Auron is supposed to be dead 10 years before Yuna’s pilgrimage, right? Since nobody did a sending for him, wouldn’t he become a fiend like everyone else due to the fact that the dead would eventually gain a resentment towards all the living when not send to the Farplane. Strange thing is that Auron never had any resentment, yet he had been dead for more than 10 years and stayed in both Spira and Dream Zanarkand for so long.
Apparently, it wasn’t clear how Auron died. When he was found lying on the ground with a fatal wound by Rin, he was saved. However, he left the next day and Rin had no idea where he went until Yuna’s pilgrimage. When Rin asked him of how he survived the wound, he asked the topic to be dropped. Well… If Auron had died during the save, he wouldn’t be able to leave Rin’s place with a physical body, right? However.. He did leave the place as a living human, but how? He had a fatal wound and critical wounds. It was unclear and never explained.
When Auron head to the Farplane as part of Yuna’s pilgrimage side trip, he refused to enter the place as if once he enters, he won’t be able leave. Actually, the strange thing is that if Auron died 10 years before Yuna’s pilgrimage in Spira, how did he travelled 1000 years into the past to Dream Zanarkand? This is also unclear. Shouldn’t the dead become either fiends or be sent to the Farplane? However, Auron didn’t become a fiend and neither was he sent to the Farplane. Instead, he travelled all the way to Dream Zanarkand to watch over Tidus. Since Auron is dead during his 10 years of watching Tidus grow up, how did all the people around Tidus including Tidus were capable of seeing Auron in the first place? This is all very confusing….

Auron has a strong connection to Spira, therefore he could not go to the Farplane. As Lulu said, the dead become fiends because of their anger caused by their death. Auron did not have such strong feelings, but actually just wanted to fulfill the promises he made to his two best friends, and defeat Sin forever.

As far as I remember, he was attacked by Yunalesca, and died when he climbed off the Gagazet mountain, at the moment which Kimahri found him.

There is no 1000 years. Dream Zanarkand was a parallel world, created by the Fayth of the people of Zanarkand to create a dream of how the city used to be before it was destroyed. Also, Auron says that he rode Sin to travel to Zanarkand and watch over Tidus. He was able to do because he was dead.
This is also unclear. Shouldn’t the dead become either fiends or be sent to the Farplane? However, Auron didn’t become a fiend and neither was he sent to the Farplane. Firstly, Auron is not the only character that is dead. Seymour is dead, as well as two other Maysters if my memory serves me right. Also, I pretty muvh doubt that there is a spiritual form for the dead. So basically, everyone can see the dead , and that is that.
Yes. Maester Mika is also dead at the start of the game. Yunalesca as well. The other maester who is also dead is maybe Kinoc, but I am not sure. Kinoc had appeared in Via Infinito in Final Fantasy X-2, the place that is located beneath the Bevelle Fortress. I know these aren’t the right names, but I don’t remember what the places are called, so..ya. Maester Seymour isn’t dead at the beginning, but he came back after Tidus and team defeated him. Maester Seymour having half-Guado blood was capable of telling apart Auron from the rest of the team that are alive members, which explains that he was alive at the start. I guess you are right. In the world of Final Fantasy X, the dead and the alive pretty much look the same, as in possessing a physical body, if not called a shell.
It was quite ironic that even though Yevon’s teachings were against the idea of keeping the dead in the living world, yet to have all their high ranking leaders, Lady Yunalesca, Maester Mika, Maester Kinoc, and Maester Seymour to be dead and away from the Farplane. More ironically in the sequel, FFX-2.. It was said that the New Yevon which had inherited the teachings of the old Yevon which forbids people from using the machina for military purposes, yet they had Vegnagun and all sorts of robot attackers. Surprisingly, the new leader of the New Yevon was a good guy, Baralai, ex-member of the defeated Crimson Squad. The more funny thing was that Baralai had joined the New Yevon as a strategic plan on hiding his Crimson Squad identity to prevent himself from getting hunted down, yet he became the respected leader of New Yevon. 😀
The Yevon-obsessed people were never sent. The characters in the Via Infinito were:
Cloister 20: Kinoc as Aranea
Cloister 40: Jyscal as Black Elemental
Cloister 60: Mika as Concherer
Cloister 80: Yunalesca as Chac
Cloister 100: Zaon as Paragon
I never made it past Cloister 30, so I had no idea about the rest with the exception of weak Kinoc whom didn’t last one round. Yunalesca and Zaon will be in Via Infinito, cool!!!!!
I almost forgot something.. Actually, I had forgotten it, but just remembered again. If I am correct, why doesn’t Shuyin in FFX-2 follow your theory? After all, how come Shuyin, the guy who looked very similar in appearances to Tidus did not had a physical body. On top of that, he had possessed the great respected leader of New Yevon, Baralai so that by utilizing the abilities of Baralai, he can control Vegnagun. Thus, Shuyin’s appearance and abilities contradict that of Auron and the Farplane.
Anyways, for some reason.. Shuyin ended up in Farplane, yet he escaped due to his strong resentment against the New Yevon over Lenne and he managed to operate the ultimate machina, Vegnagun.
Seriously though, Vegnagun is pretty weak. It only took me 3 minutes to defeat the ultimate machina. As for Shuyin, he didn’t last a minute.
On the other hand, one time my cousins told me that X-2 never existed cause Tidus and Yuna were shot. (They were referring to the FMV in the game where Yuna had a bad dream.) xD
There is something I noticed while playing the two games. Tidus has two different facial appearances, as well as Yuna. During the streaming CG cutscenes, they look much different, yet not the same as Shuyin and Lenne. Pretty unique game!
