I uploaded it from a Vista machine, and test-downloaded it from the same, so that can’t be it. perhaps your browser? I’m not on the machine that has the files so I can’t upload anything from it atm, sorry guys :-\
The asteriked (*) ones we don’t have yet, but I’ll get them soon! (through other means)

Go to the first link. Great quality, but with speech burbles. It has 91 (As of June 18, 2007) tracks. Also need to rip when the chapter ends. You’re welcome.

Wow! thanks so much for that. That’s the one I was after. Really appreciate it, thanks again. =) =) =)
By the way, what track is it?
Ever since the game came out, i’ve been waiting for the OST as well
I only have two problems with these.
1. Songs sounds more "grainier" and I don’t know wherher it is my imagination or the actual plugin.
2. The plugin reads ALL of the songs at 22khz even when, some songs reads for example "btl_boss_stg2_22k_lp.brstm" and others like "evt_bukimi1_44k_lp.brstm"
I can upload the original brstm files or encoded to a more "popular" format.
Tell me so I can do it tomorrow (I have to go to bed now).
Nintendo is incredibly stingy with its OST releases. I doubt even Twilight Princess is going to get an official release, and the Zelda series is their premiere VGM OST line. I highly doubt that we will get anything better than these new extracted files.
On that topic, I might have missed a post, but has anybody found a good converter to put this new file format into .mp3 format?
EDIT: I just noticed Blue Ion’s post promised a converted format as well as the .brstm format. I hope you can get the graininess taken care of. Audacity also features a noise filter, so you can try that out.
I have put all of the 135 brstm in a 7zip file (use WinRar or 7zip itself to open it), the first upload will be that format (you won’t find better lossless than the musicians master ๐ ), and it is just music.
I use the in_cube (http://www.hcs64.com/in_cube.html) plugin with XMPlay (http://www.un4seen.com) to encode the files using lame though the thing should work just as well with winamp in case you use it (heh, too bloated for me).
Again, I haven’t still beaten the game (I just started this month) so I don’t know many of the songs, though I’m eadger to know if "dummy_32k.brstm" has actually been used within the game…
Here you go: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XUAHQ6O0
Looks like Blue Ion posted the whole bunch so… have at ’em!
The naming is the same as the brstm except with a mp3 behind, looping two times (where applicable).
I’ll keep the Super Paper Mario dump around for some time in case any of you need anything.
Cheers
PD: Link below
Yup, thats how I did it, two loops with a fade out at the start of the third.
Note that there are no sfx, (there is a quite big file with a brsar extension, probably for the sound effects, but in_cube can’t even play these) there are only songs.
Though if by sfx you meant the music played (for example) when you get an item, then these doesn’t have loop info, and they play just once.
EDIT:
MP3 around 187 MB: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XQYFCY8F
BRSTM around 148 MB: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XUAHQ6O0
Incidentally, what bitrate are the mp3s at? BRSTM is beyond my limited musical knowledge but I really appreciate high quality mp3s. None of those 128 rubbish. Preferably I like to handle 320, even if the filesize is massive. People can deal with that sort of size nowadays, unless you live in The Past, who I feel sorry for.
Anyway, please fix that link if you can, I’d really appreciate a decent extration. ^^ BRSTM though… I’ve never even heard of that before now. XP
The mp3 are encoded around 128 kbits but don’t get confused, almost all of the songs are at 22khz making the maximum at 160 kbits (not 320).
This is the string I use to encode mp3s "lame -k –replaygain-accurate –vbr-new -V 1" (with the encoder set to stdin).
The very few that are at 32 khz their bitrate is around 200.
Unless the in_cube (http://www.hcs64.com/in_cube.html) plugin is flawed (which I doubt), those are the true frequencies, download the plugin and copy it to Winamp, XMPlay, or a player compatible with winamp plugins.
Even if it is, you have the very original files of the game to listen or rip yourself, once they release a "fixed" plugin.
Either way, I’ll wait and see how it is. ^^;
…Also, I must be the only person who doesn’t like Winamp. Oh well. Plugins are good an’ all but by god I hate the player.
BRSTM is the file format that the music is actually stored as in the code of the game itself. Based on what I’ve read at hcs64.com (the website of the creator of the in_cube plugin), streaming audio in Cube and Wii games come in a ton of different formats–varies from game to game. As far as I’ve read, BRSTM seems unique to Super Paper Mario so far, and one of the latest updates to the in_cube plugin added BRSTM to the list of formats it can play.
Is anybody working on the tracklist conversion?
I can begin work on a tracklist, but it will probably be incomplete. I’ll post updates as I figure out more of it.
Blue Ion, sorry to be a bother, but the BRSTM upload was deleted from MEGAUPLOAD due to its being a violation of its Terms of service. May I recommend an upload to http://www.sendspace.com/ or http://www.filefactory.com/ (If it’s not too much trouble, I mean)? Thank you.

P.S. – If I get the files, I could probably convert them to highest quality MP3s, or Apple Lossless (straight from BRSTM), for everyones’ iPod, by the end of the day. I could also convert to FLAC, if anyone wants it.
Be careful that megaupload have been having trouble lately.
Anyhow, I’ve been sniffing around the HCS website and found this (http://hcs64.com/bonus/Streams) little page with lots of streams that the plugin can play (the original raw ones).
More specifically the Super Paper Mario brstm (http://hcs64.com/bonus/Streams/Wii/DSP/Super%20Paper%20Mario%20(2007)(Nintendo)%5bWII%5d% 5bBRSTM%5d.zip).
The place has good bandwith and is a direct link, though I would ask you to still use the mega upload link to avoid hammering their servers (if they are available).
As for the FLACs…
I converted myself to FLAC, but after watching how the conversion started to exceed 500 mb, I decided to stop since I don’t know any service that allows such size.
And the MP3 for my ears are quite good (besides, the -k modifier removes the bandpass filters to avoid any unnecesary frequency slaughter as they are already limited with just 22khz).
I can upload the brstm again elsewhere if you feel to play nice with their servers or make 160 kbits mp3s (the maximum quality), but doing so for me is quite lengthy as I only have 320 kbits of upload (less in practise).
Be careful that megaupload have been having trouble lately. …
Yes, you were correct. I was trying to browse there using Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer to be able to use my Download Accelerator Plus Program. LOL! Its downloading as I type this. -What an ungodly hour… LOL! I am just used to Japanese time… it would be around 8:30 PM over there right now…
Thank you!

Yeah, I read at HCS that the Piccolo songs are not included in the ripped brstm files, which they presumably would be if the game considered them music tracks. I’d imagine they’re stored as sound effects instead.
If you could do this, I would be very grateful. ^^

Maximum quality mp3s would be very nice, I have to say this extraction is extremely good, although I have a few questions because I’m a bit dim about the whole thing…
Firstly, are those filenames the actual names of the files within the ROM? Because if so, that’s pretty dang cool. ^^
Secondly, that ‘dummy’ track, what is that? Obviously it’s 1-1 from SMB3, but is that like a bonus track hidden in the ROM? Also, is it meant to crackle like that? I can hear crackling in the background, like it’s being played on vinyl or something. Is that meant to occur?
Anyway, if one of you could make mp3s from the brstm but at an effectively lossless quality (160kbs for the 22hz tracks, presumably, higher for the others) that would be just absolutely perfect and I could die happy, because this extraction is brilliant.
And for that, thank you. ^^

First off, lemme clarify I don’t get all of this myself. All’s I know is I discovered hcs64.com a couple weeks ago and the guys in the forum there are a bunch of kick-ass hacker/programmer/music-extracting geniuses. That site is where I discovered that there were people extracting music directly out of games instead of just recording it. They’ve got soundtracks over at that site completely free of SFX to an extent that is literally impossible to achieve by just recording the game audio (e.g. these SPM tracks are complete with intros, but don’t have the SFX of the track titles appearing in a textbox like you’d have with a recording from the Flopside jukebox).
But I know nothing of their methods really; I’m just a dude who enjoys the fruits of their labor.
Those are indeed the actual filenames of the music in the game’s code. As for that dummy track, I wouldn’t call it a bonus track; "bonus," I think, implies that it was deliberately put there to be a prize for someone, and I doubt Nintendo put something in there for the sole purpose of surprising hackers. Perhaps at one point that tune was going to make an appearance in the game somewhere and they decided later to leave that out, but they left the music file behind. I’ve found other instances of unused music being left behind in games while looking through the files at hcs64; usually little insignificant stuff, like there are a couple of short fanfares in their SSBM soundtrack that are never heard in the game.
There are some other oddities in the SPM files. Whatever that "happy flower" track is, there are two of them. There’s also three different "Mansion Patrol" tracks, one of which I think is longer than the other two IIRC. Whoever it is that ultimately does the tracklist conversion will hopefully know enough about the game’s music to solve these mysteries.
Yes, those are the original filenames, I have taken a look to the other folders, but that is insane. The only files I recognise are txt ones and now the brstm. (It’s funny see the translations from the dialogs, I’m spanish and the translation is very well done from the english one).

Developers usually test their stuff with dummy files created specifically for the moment and they must have forgotten to remove it once the game went gold. Not that they should care, afterall, PCs can’t read wii discs. Right?:naughty:
All games have little secrets like that.
Probably it’s meant to sound like that since all other tracks sound well (specially when they have silence).
Besides, the format is old, as in, already used in some gamecube games and slightly adapted for the wii, and the authors of the plugin hacked it in some minutes, and fixed it a day later.
Anyway, if one of you could make mp3s from the brstm but at an effectively lossless quality (160kbs for the 22hz tracks, presumably, higher for the others) that would be just absolutely perfect and I could die happy, because this extraction is brilliant.
Ok, I’ll post it tomorrow (8 hours from now that is, I have to sleep first).
However, you would be better off trying to do the rip yourself. It’s quite easy with xmplay, and use the format you most like (like ogg, aac, ape, flac, mpc,…) with the bitrate of your choosing, and as many loops as you want.
I can explain how to do it I you want.
PD: Keep an eye for updates on in_cube. Thanks to a recently released tool to extract the contents from a encripted wii image, we are going to see a flood of original soundtracks with new and old formats. Heck, I had version 0.28 when I first posted here and now they are at version 0.31 adding Galaxy Wars. I have to check out that game.

The a.pngs are the order that the tracks are in when you get them in the file and drag it into iTunes. the b.pngs are the renamed tracks in order of appearance in the game. start with the fourth file onward and then go to the first three. I couldn’t find out what the other five I left out were so whatever. Also, if someone could extract the ‘Wii Intro Screen’ track from the first track of my reupload on the middle of page 1 and put it into a separate file or reorder their songs to fit this list and put it in a sendspace/ megaupload link, that would make this topic the best.

Which tools are these? I have rawdump so I can make a wii image, but how do I decrypt it?
Thanks
Search on google how to decrypt wii isos.
I don’t want to sound impoite, but the tool requires the wii master key which might, or might not be illegal. (like the "incident" where a hidef dvd master key got leaked on the internet, and the movie associations went berserk about it)
Since I don’t know, I prefer to err on the safe side to jeperdise this forum.
You shouldn’t have much trouble finding the program, though the key might be tougher find.
I’m not aware of any other errors like this as I haven’t listened to the whole thing on the promise that there might be a higher bitrate version, although I suppose there might be other little snags like this. I haven’t heard any though.
I’m uploading a 160 kbits version for the 22 khz songs and 320 kbits for the few 32 khz, somewhat overkill for me, but it’s ok.
The glitch is not present there but if the plugin or encoder can mess up like this, then please listen to them to avoid further problems and upload proper ones.
I’ll listen to them on my own as well.
PD: Sorry for the delay, but I messed up the first "max quality" encoding by setting the times to loop to 1 instead to 2. No wonder the cbr was less than the vbr ones.
Link to the maximum mp3 quality.

Please check if these are ok.
Thanks
Thanks ever so! ^^
You are thinking of Super Mario Galaxy.
Actually the both of them were quite easy to find. I ripped Super Mario Galaxy and got the audio files with no trouble. Why didn’t I think of Google myself? :rolleyes:
I also have a MovieData folder with .thp files inside. in_cube can play the audio from the files, any idea how to play the video?
1. The file titled "The Road for the Lost" also plays when one of Merlee’s spells is in effect.
2. There are three versions of the Pure Heart theme: one when you get the first pure heart, one when you get the stone heart in the World 6 void, and one for the other six hearts.
3. The file named "ff_umai1_e1_lp" is the theme for peach waking up in the Overthere Stair (7-3). Do you hear anything if you give her the wrong apple?
4. The latest link for the MP3’s is broken. At least for me it is.
5. You can try looking for videos on YouTube if you are unsure of a specific tune.
People, every link works for me. Apparently megaupload have been having trouble lately. If it doesn’t work, please, wait, and try again later.
It has to say explicitly that the file has been removed, not that it is temporary unavailable, because as it says, it is just temporary.
By the way, since SPM is done, anyone have any hcs64 SFX-less things on Luigi’s Mansion, Pikmin 2, or Donkey Kong Jungle Beat?
If in_cube can play these, then I think will be able to do Luigi’s Mansion or Pikmin 2. Unfortunately I don’t own Donkey Kong Jungle Beat though I may snatch it from the internet for a little while…
:angel:

There is a somewhat generic player for those videos as I remember someone posting a shot of a video as proof.
Pikmin 2 would be awesome too, Pikmin games are so gloriously lovely.
As far as I’m concerned, the only (proper) way would be disable sfx trough an emulator with cheat codes or with action replay and record the music from there.
But since I don’t own either a 64 bit cpu (for dolphin) or an action replay device the thing pretty bleak for me.
Luigi’s Mansion has some streamed music, though…
Its time to burn the chair for me studying.
Once I finish (this 6th of february) I’ll get to it.
p.s I’ve made a topic for people who wanna talk about streamed music and progress being made with it.
*Sigh* .. yet another game where I played through about 70% and didnt beat.
If any of these posts about ripping Luigi’s Mansion or Pikmin come through, that would be awesome.. I’ll be sure to follow these things around here !
~~~***~~~
Finally! Please get it done ASAP. *twiddles thumbs while periodically looking at watch* ๐
The only problem is that they’re, like, in another language. The filenames, I mean. I can’t really tell which one’s which (particularly towards character battle themes). C’n anyone post a list of all the filenames and tell exactly where they go in the game? (e.g. "This one is Mimi’s battle theme"; "This is the music for Stage 4-4"; "This is the music that plays when Dimentio appears"; and so on) And maybe put them in order, the order they appear in the game ("You’ll hear this scene first, then this one, then Flipside", and so on). It would be much appreciated. And it would make it just like my other Paper Mario song lists.
I’m sorry if I’m asking too much, but I downloaded every single package listed in this thread and I still didn’t understand which one is really complete, without one single missing song. Further, I know it’s a nuisance, but could someone post a link that has the songs organized by number? or at least, post a link with a tracklist that someone with less experience (me) could understand, so that I can rename the files myself (even if I don’t know how, since the names in the archive are, at least to me, so messed up that I don’t even understand which song is which)? But if you could upload an archive with all the songs already renamed it would be wonderful.
Sorry again, but really, I have all archives here for a total of around 1 gb and I still don’t understand what the hell to do with them.
It’s like a matching game. Keep the download list open in one window (or tab, if you have one of those browsers), and open another with the track list. Then it’s just a matter of matching the names on the two lists.
If you managed to rename everything, could you give me your tracklist, please?
I’ll try to figure it out myself again, thanks.
BTW, I think I figured out one unnamed song (not sure, but it could be the opening theme for the third chapter), but even if I was sure, I don’t know where to put it chronologically… X_x’ little help please?
Is this link any different from other ones in this thread? Seems like it might be the best rip, but the download link has expired.
Oh yeah, I’m also interested in FLACs, as was being discussed earlier. The link in the first post is the best quality I’ve heard so far (wait, what’s that weird sound effect near the start of most files??), so my assumption is that the broken link in the quote was just a higher bit-rate. (FLAC would obviously be best.)
This is even better than the Thousand Year Door rip, though probably because the original sounds are just better. Now a Paper Mario N64 rip done like this would be insane (the USFs are a bit quiet, and I assume that it’s actually not the best possible quality). That hcs64.com site is really interesting.
Adlerrules
Also, those Super Mario Sunshine & Luigi’s Mansion Gamecube files are a real pain to decrypt. Because i know hcs’ methods, i can try to decrypt them myself. The paper mario rip is complete, but i think it is missing "Toad Town Variations". disk1, track 11. you can just download that from gh though.
Thanks a ton.
Can anyone identify these these tracks? At least where they play?
evt_angel_44k_lp.brstm ๏ฟฝ I don’t know, but the name makes me think it might be some event in Overthere Stair.
evt_hiroshi1_44k_lp.brstm ๏ฟฝ I think it’s "Flint Cragley, Cragtrotter"
evt_relax1_44k_lp.brstm ๏ฟฝ I don’t know, but it sounds like it would be in Francis’s castle. Sounds like he is trying to treat Peach well and help her relax.
It’s possible that Angel and Relax weren’t included in the game, and we just have to call them Angel and Relax.
… IT’S AMAZING!!!
Super Paper Mario Original Soundtrack.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/?8mo318ueqg8hqg8)
If I recall correctly, this rip is inferior. It was recorded in-game, so there are some sound effects and voice chatter in some of them.
There is a more comprehensive, 269-track version that was ripped from the gamedisc itself.
OP’s link is dead. So was my old Mediafire link, so I reuploaded it yet again.
Super Paper Mario ost.zip thank you!!
↑それが今月に入り最悪の事実を知って最悪な気持ちです。 きっかけはC子が結婚したという報告を聞いてでした。お相手はAさ んです。嘘でしょ?!と思いC子のブログを見てみると、結婚式の写 真と共に、「全部D助さんのおかげです!」とありました。気になっ たのでD助に聞いたところ、私とAさんは両思いだった、C子は初めか らAさんが好き、D助は私が好き(告白されてお断りしました。)な ので彼氏がいると聞かせる。という作戦だったらしいです。 思い返せば、私がAさんに不信感を持ち始めた頃、向こうもよそよそ しくなっていました。 それから、眠れない日が続き、Aさんにすべて話したい!私Aさんが 大好きだったのに!と打ち明けたいという思いが消えません。Aさん の幸せを一番考えたら、何も言わずにこのまま忘れるのが一番と思っ ています。 ただ、にいった、Aがプレゼントをくれたなどの日常が羨まし くて、本当は私がここにいた 誰かをうらやましく思ったことはありません。友達はそんな不健康な ことはやめて、次に進め!
Sorry The12thGripper :b
EDIT: This is pretty shitty, forgive me Japanesed-san.
HOWEVER, I also highly recommend checking out !!!!!’s superior rip of the soundtrack. This thread’s rip is only 128kbps CBR MP3 while !!!!!’s version has 320 MP3 and FLAC available with overall improved audio quality:
