And nobody helped me find them.
But now I have found them.
They’re 128kbps but they are BLOODY RARE so I’m not complaining.
Enjoy π

it only zips to track 5 and then an error appears!
Please someone?
*plays track 1, orchestra begins playing Bill Conti’s theme to North and South*
"fuck!"
Four more to go.
I think Amano was better in Battle Royale, but then regressed back to his old ways in Battle Royale 2.
Compare "Battle Of The Snowy Mointains" with this track (do listen all the way through if you can stomach it) and discuss… π
If that’s not more blatant than a vague redux of North and South, and some Shostakovich fading in and out…!
Literally five minutes ago I just did a "Buy It Now" on ebay – for OST 2, for $60.
Now… where are the other six? Lossless please! π
Danny, major improvement – you’ll never look back hun π
Now… where are the other six? Lossless please! π
Lossless of this is possible but I do not have the others.
Reason I ask is b/c i just watched Giant Robo for the first time and now my mind is blown.

I don’t think this is worthless at all. Certainly a fresh recording would be welcome, which would allow for perhaps greater tweaking of the score, but I think this is interesting as a reconceptualization of Amano’s exceptional scores for "Giant Robo" into a concert work. Frankly, it’s something I wish a lot more film composers would do… but of course it requires far more effort than just throwing all the cues onto a disc in chronological order and calling it a definitive presentation of the music.
That said, I find the "symphonic suite" album of the first episode’s score to be a more enjoyable and satisfying listen.
Reading this over again, it kind of sounds like I want film composers to re-edit their existing recordings into "concert suites." I meant that I wish more film composers would reconceptualize the music for concert performance, like Prokofiev creating the Nevsky cantata by reshaping his score for the film, or the supposedly dreaded "album rerecordings" of old where Rozsa, Goldsmith, Williams, et al. would pick highlights and tweak it for optimal musicality separate from the film to create a better listening experience. It’s nice to hear the music develop a bit instead of jumping from dramatic beat to dramatic beat when its divorced from the filmic context. But you all probably knew that’s what I meant, right?

Also, Japanese composers are often accused of plagiarism from westerners. Yoko Kanno is another one. As far as I have read, the Japanese have far different ideas about "ownership" of art and what is copying/influencing. The culture just doesn’t see these things as stealing. I’m not an expert, though. Just my novice research.

Seeing the OP of this thread reminds me of the days when rapidshare was the shit. Now it’s just plain shit π
Considering how dead it is, I’d say by now RS is more akin to fertilizer.
As for the subject, I’d say Ginrei of Arabia is more an hommage to Lawrence of arabia, as the both the composition and orchestration are very slightly different.
No excuses for "Is Paris Burning", although I doubt many people outside hardcore classical score fans would know about it or even recognize the piece. and it messhes well with the rest. and it’s not as if Amano had pulled a Tyler Bates.
Amano might jut be Japan’s answer to Horner, supplanting even Naoki Sato as the most fun to "Spot the Overt Influence" game with…
Other examples; lifting the entire main title theme from 1960s WWII movie, and using it as one of your principal melodies in a Sci-Fi adventure series twenty years later… is clearly, and obviously, not a homage – it’s Amano taking an existing piece of music he likes because he couldn’t be bothered to come up with something original, tried to come up with something original but couldn’t get the mood right, or ran out of time. Change a few notes around, and hope nobody notices. That’s about the same of it.
(Giant Robo’s two principal melodies are both lifted wholesale from other scores; one French ("Is Paris Burning?" 1966, by Maurice Jarre) and one American ("North and South", a 1985 mini-series about the American civil war, by Bill Conti) – it’s not subtle, it’s not being done to demonstrate affection for or respect towards the original composers or their work. They are both textbook examples of plagiarism.)
Throughout the seven main GR scores and the additional OVA scores, there are countless further examples – and you really need to consider these facts in the context of Amano’s career which has been largely defined by his orchestral music that brazenly and frequently rips off both himself (most hilariously, a cue that underscored a hardcore gay sex scene in 1990s Hentai "Boys Legend" turning up almost unchanged as the finale cue for Battle Royale 2) and other composers. Off the top of my head pinching Klendathu Drop (ALL of it) from Basil Poledouris’ Starship Troopers, also for Battle Royale 2, being one of the most shocking.
I love the scores and I love Amano, but let’s call a spade a spade. As far as the Japanese composers known for their orchestral music (my area of expertise) Amano and Yoko Kanno are the big two.
It’s a shame, but the music’s excellent… and in any case, these scores are twenty years old now. What are we supposed to do about it, but try to put Amano’s "inspiration" out of our heads and just enjoy them for what they are; larger than life, shamelessly grand symphonic scores – fine examples of the craft that remain the yardstick at which Japanese orchestral film scores are judged? π

OST in 2ch 24bit 96 kHz as single video files (no chapters) [original format: LPCM]. I’ve uploaded the audio (https://mega.nz/#F!Upcx2YAS!I3eStB_t_sNEg4JmW51X2g) (single flac files, no cues) from a torrent by Kiwamin/Kagura. Kiwamin/Kagura mentioned this regarding these bous materials:
"OSTs are muxed with stood picture (u wouldn’t like them) in the source per episodes, and can be considered as BGM for each whole episode. no cue or other seeking chapter".
jadow81: "While playing the music, the album cover art is shown with zooming and panning. Popup menu has tracklist, and indicates what tune is now being played." Here’s the popup menu for OST 5 during BD playback: Image ()
