No I didn’t play X-2 before X, but for some strange reason a lot of people I know did. Why they decided to is beyond me.
But, it has happened where I played the sequel first or watched a sequel to a movie first, of course… but I’ve kinda imagined what it would be like playing X after X-2 and what would have possibly run through my mind. And for those of you here who did play X-2 first, if there are any… what sort of things did you think when you played X? And for those of you, like me who played X first… what are some things you would have thought, probably?
-initial reaction would be "hey, it’s Shuyin!" and then remembering "Oh… him that Yuna was talking about." But they never do say what happens to him so it’s interesting to see how that unfolds.
-X made getting rid of Sin seem almost unrealistic, so its almost like you’d forget X-2 exists…
-Oh cool, we get to use that couple from Besaid, no wonder Yuna and Rikku knew them so well.
-Oh nice we get to see that Farplane place we werent about to cross the bridge to in Guadosalaam.
-Oh, I see, so each of those places from that airship list get unlocked as we progress through the game… which will we see next?
-Around Gagazet I’d probably have thought "How the hell did Yuna pull off surviving this game?"
-Wow, no wonder everyone in Kilika was so happy in X-2.
-Rikku was probably the only character that seemed to have the same mentality in both games as well as foreshadow X-2. Hell, even Wakka and Lulu were Yevon-blind.
-And of course, until you get to Home you’d probably wonder "if Sin keeps coming back like they say and Yuna’s gonna defeat it, how come in X-2 it wasn’t still coming back?"
…And so on.
Yeah, because FFX-2 is all about emotions and a deep and involving story line.
but if you played FFX first, you wouldnt say both are good…you would say FFX…
so u’re saying sumthing’s wrong with yuna? *srry if i missed your point there* ๐
A common conception of X-2 implies that there is something wrong with Yuna. Not that there is anything wrong with her in X, but getting the first impression of her character from X-2 makes you wonder (at least to those with that conception) why anyone would want her.
Well, I can’t say that, can I? I can say that music-wise, FFX wins.
This post made me laugh! I never thought of the possibility that someone playing X-2 first would get this impression. They’d probably be left contemplating whether Yuna had some sort of terrible disease…
Heh, I also don’t think there would seem to be anything wrong with her in X-2 if I didn’t see her in X first.
But that’s very interesting actually, if anything in X, the way she acts all kinda innocent and mysterious kinda reminds me of the way someone with a fatal disease like cancer would act… at least in movies. Then again she does have something akin to a "fatal disease" so it makes sense.
ok…so i’m getting a sense that somethings wrong with her as in diseases? what makes you think that? and why did you hav such a bad impression on her?
It’s not me, I don’t think that. What I meant is most people who give FFX-2 its underratedness dislike it because they can’t stand Yuna, that’s what I meant by a common conception being that there’s something wrong with her. By "something wrong" I don’t even mean disease, it’s just everything is wrong with her character in X-2, according to most people. I never said I agree with them though, but I can understand why they’d think that.
now that you’ve mentioned it more clearly, i actually do understand why ppl think that. in the open song, i cant really believe it was yuna at all. cause in X, she was all calm and determined but in X-2, shes a total different person…and thats just me saying even if i didnt exactly nail your point.;-)
I agree. I mean, I definitely don’t hate Yuna; far from it. She has a silent strength you don’t see often. But X-2 was just lacking… It felt so much more like Square made a sequel because of how X sat with upset fans (and to make skimpy outfits) instead of preserving the integrity and magic that gave X its appeal. I sort of wish they left it alone for fans to make a conclusion of what became of Yuna and Tidus.
I 2nd that notion.X-2 kinda takes away the "Fantasy" of FF.
if you played FFX first.
and the characters and story in x aren’t that deep.
if you played FFX-2 first.
PS: so dont ruin it for yourself ppl!!!
so after yuna defeated sin, tidus is forced to leave. well technically, he became a dream…
i cant do this…srry.
But yeah It’d be kinda stupid, It would ruin your whole concept of Tidus.
PizzalixFFfan, alot of the things that happened were basically this: Run from temple to temple getting an Aeon in a traitor, O LEWK BLITZBALL. Temple.. Temple.. Seymour goes "OMGZ SECKZ MI." Yuna just denies him by jumping off building ECT. In the end yes Tidus dissapears as he is a dream and when the Aeons are released from the stones they can no longer maintain Tidus. So yeah he dissapears. {Final Fantasy X was one of my favorites :333}
