๐
agent0042 my idea was we compare monsters to pokemon and battle like
ifrit against charizard
bahamut against pikachu
butz against cresselia
you know
Nick, let’s try to keep on topic in here, kthx~ ๐
In any case, I’ll see about starting this this evening, before I go to bed. I’ll also edit the rules and info into the first post.
Oh, BTW…
Pokemon
Nick, let’s try to keep on topic in here, kthx~ ๐
I’m not sure he’s capable of it. ๐
I work with the guy ๐
feralanima, thanks, yeah, the decision was already made.
Okay, let’s get started. We’re going to do 32. I’ve already drawn up a list and then are also some spots open for nominations. Best nominate, because if you don’t, I’m just gonna fill those slots myself, and then you can’t complain later if you don’t see something you wanted on the list.
Here’s the list:
Ahead on Our Way
A Presentiment
The Battle
Pirates Ahoy!
Harvest
The Dragon Spreads its Wings
The Airship
Battle with Gilgamesh
Unknown Lands
Critter! Tripper! Fritter!
The Castle of Dawn
As I Feel, You Feel
Go Go Boko!
The Land Unknown
The Prelude of the Empty Skies
The Decisive Battle
The Last Battle
The Silent Beyond
Dear Friends
Final Fantasy
The New Origin
The Prelude
Fanfare 2
Piano Lesson 8
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas
My Home, Sweet Home
Mambo de Chocobo
Lenna/Reina’s Theme
Four Valiant Hearts
Nostalgia
Reminiscence
What?
Remember, the list above is only for reference. I keep the updated results in the first post of the thread. First up…
Unknown Lands (This is the music that’s used as the world map theme for Galuf’s world. It’s one of my personal all-time favorite world map themes.)
vs.
The Silent Beyond (This is the music that plays after the final battle, when you are sort of floating in space. "Courage lit the flame…" and, so on…)
Two great pieces from this game, among many. Which will move on in this first battle?
Thats a really good list
Ones I’d Like to see:
.Beyond the Deep Blue Seas
.My Home, Sweet Home
.Mambo de Chocobo
Thats just a few that I’d like to see, theirs more but I can’t
think of them right now.
The Silent Beyond <3
Sorry for the late vote. I was trying to find a good site to stream the music so I wouldn’t just make a random vote. Now that I have found one I can start voting. (Final Fantasy V is the only OST that I dont own)
Someone with the user name fironff2 has alot of FF songs up.
Unknown Lands – 6
The Silent Beyond – 2
A fairly strong win for Unknown Lands. I rather expected The Silent Beyond to do better, though I guess maybe people found it a bit repetitive — it does seem to me like it gets old after a while, since it’s largely the same musical cue being repeated over and over.
Thanks for the nominations so far. And I thought of a couple more myself that should definitely be included. Anymore nominations would be appreciated — I think I’ll leave it open for a couple more battles. Next up…
The Dragon Spreads its Wings (This is the cheerful tune that plays while you’re riding a dragon.)
vs.
The Prelude of the Empty Skies (The ominous music that plays while you’re wandering around in the Void.)
I think I’ll leave this open for three days. See, thing is, I’d like to avoid having to update this the same night as the Gen FF Rumble if at all possible. So that’ll get it back on schedule. I might update it by tomorrow evening instead, if it looks like a blowout or near blowout, or if there are actually a fair few votes by then.
The Dragon Spreads its Wings – 5
The Prelude of the Empty Skies – 6
"Dragon" never quite made it. "The Prelude of the Empty Skies" wins by just one vote.
All right, next we have…
The Battle (This is the game’s normal battle theme. It plays during all standard random encounter or "trap" battles.)
vs.
Fanfare 2 (One of two "Fanfare" pieces in the game. It’s very short, but quite a lovely fanfare. It’s generally reserved for "significant accomplishment" events. I think one example may be when your party falls under the spell of the Siren, but then they come to.)
Nominations end after this battle, if anyone has any more that they want to make. I’ve already decided on at least a couple to add in, in addition to the ones that were already suggested.
As for the fanfare, I don’t know what the GBA version is trying to hint at, but it has the said fanfare as Fanfare 1. I can’t quite put my hands on where Fanfare 2 on said version comes from.
I agree with Cookie.
There just isn’t enough with Fanfare. The Battle has more feeling
There just isn’t enough with Fanfare. The Battle has more feeling
The Battle – 6
Fanfare 2 – 0
No love for "Fanfare 2." Way too short, I guess.
The nominations are now up. Now, on to the next battle…
Battle with Gilgamesh (I think we all know this one. It’s the music that plays during the various Gilgamesh battles. This intense theme is first heard when you fight him on the "big bridge." This theme was redone by the Black Mages and a version of it was also heard in FFXII.)
vs.
Four Valiant Hearts (This is the very first world map theme of the game. So it plays in the world of Butz, Reina and Faris.)
’nuff said
’nuff said
’nuff said
’nuff said
Battle with Gilgamesh – 8
Four Valiant Hearts – 0
Battle with Gilgamesh completely wipes away the first world map theme.
Next is…
Pirates Ahoy! (The theme played for Reina/Lennas’ pirate ship.)
vs.
Final Fantasy (This unique version of "Final Fantasy" a.k.a. "The Prologue" plays right after "Dear Friends" and "Before the New Origin," during the segment where everyone meets up with Krile/Cara to cheer her up or your character(s) are returned depending on the outcome of the final bat
Final Fantasy – 2
Arr! "Pirates Ahoy" be goin’ to round 2. Next up…
Ahead on Our Way (This cheerful tune is used during the opening demo sequence / load screens.)
vs.
Go Go Boko! (The chocobo theme used as you ride the chocobo Boko/Boco.)
This is a tough one…… I’ll go with "Ahead on Our Way"
Oh, BTW, fair warning — if you guys keep voting for "Pirates Ahoy!" in future rounds, the pirate brogue is only going to get worse. ๐
Like the Main FF Theme, I have heard the Chocobo Theme so many times I can’t stand it. Plus I have always liked Ahead on Our Way.
I’d vote for the chocobo theme if it was one of the variants from FFVI and on.
Go Go Boko! – 4
Seems we have a tie. We’re going to Sudden Death. Next vote clinches it. If there’s no vote after 24 hours, then coin toss decides it.
Next up…
Critter! Tripper! Fritter! (Plays during the Gogo "battle," may have played during a couple other events, I think. This music served as the inspiration for Mog’s Theme from VI and for the moogle (Mogri) theme played in Mognet Central in IX.)
vs.
The New Origin (It’s the game’s ending theme that plays during the credits roll and final character status display.)
Critter! Tripper! Fritter! – 0
The New Origin – 4
So it’s the game’s ending credits theme on to the next round.
Next battle…
The Airship (The music played while flying around the airship. The airship itself wasn’t much to look at, but this was a fairly zippy tune.)
vs.
What? (This quirky, funny piece played during several amusing moments in the game, such as when Galuf was briefly left stranded while everyone else was about to toddle off on their way, and also when Butz was trying to catch the black chocobo.)
Oh, P.S. — most of you probably already know about it by now, but the VI Rumble has started. If you like FFVI and wanna join in, make sure to stop by and show your support, right here in this section.
So… For this round I’ll go for The Airship, because I have a huge thing for airship themes.
What? – 3
First vote cast for "What?," but ultimately it loses to "The Airship."
And we continue with…
A Presentiment (The game’s opening theme. It has a fairly ominous feeling to it, but ends on what seems like a hopeful note. Very interesting, very atmospheric.)
vs.
The Last Battle (The battle theme for the big final boss battle with surprise [not!] boss Neo-Exdeath.)
A Presentiment
Final boss battle music usually isn’t that great anyway.
A Presentiment – 7
The Last Battle – 3
The opening theme beats the ending battle theme. And we have now…
The Land Unknown (The game’s third and final world map theme. Plays while on the world map in the merged world.)
vs.
Mambo de Chocobo (This bouncy, fun tune is the black chocobo riding theme.)
Oh and…
A Presentiment , hi agent, you should do a Rumble for ff7:cc
Never played it…
Also, sorry. I forgot to check for the update in the last round. Apologies
Mambo de Chocobo for me
The Land Unknown – 3
Mambo de Chocobo – 4
Very close, but the funky black chocobo theme wins this one. It gets a berth in the second round.
And we do another battle…
The Castle of Dawn (This is the theme of Galuf’s castle, Val Castle, and plays within that castle.)
vs.
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas (We all live in a yellow submarine — or at least we use some sort of submarine anyway to tool around underwater in FFV. And this is theme that plays while we’re doing it.)
The Castle of Dawn – 0
Beyond the Deep Blue Sea(s) – 8
The underwater theme goes on to the second round. We’re drawing ever close to that — however, we still have several battles left.
Next up is…
Harvest (This tune plays in Kerwin. As mentioned below, a sort of Scottish or Celtic feel — very lively and fun.)
vs.
Piano Lesson 8 (This is the final Butz/Bartz piano lesson piece and demonstrates the most technical proficiency. It’s short, but nice to listen to. Still, will it go down just as quickly as the other short piece like it did before?)
I feel like I’m sending another tune to the slaughter, but at least one of the Piano Lessons had to be included. Cast your votes!
Took the words right outta my mouth, I vote Piano Lesson 8 for the exact same reason
Piano Lesson 8
Harvest – 2
Piano Lesson 8 – 3
Piano Lesson 8 just wins it.
Next battle is…
Dear Friends (An appropriate title. This is the tune that plays during the ending sequence / reading of the letter — no matter which of the letters it may be, depending on how many characters [if any] you had KOed at the end of the final battle. It’s a nice tune, though it can perhaps get a bit repetitive.)
vs.
Reminiscence (This, as its title suggests, generally plays during segments when a character is remember some important thing — such as when Galuf regains some memory he lost due to his amnesia, or Bartz remembering things about his parents. It rather reminds me of FFVIII’s "Junction," and curiously, that track is of the same length as this one.)
ok…
I will go with…. Reminiscing my dear friends…
ok… sorry…. Dear Friends
NOOOO… Harvest!!! ;-;
Dear Friends – 5
Reminiscence – 5
Who woulda guessed it? Looked like it was gonna be a straight shot for "Dear Friends," but it ended up being a tie. So we’re going to Sudden Death. Next vote from somebody that hasn’t already voted on the battle clinches it. If there isn’t one after 24 hours, then I’ll just toss a coin.
But right now, I wanna do the same thing I did with the Gen FF Rumble before and move straight along to next battle while we’re waiting for that.
The Prelude (Another of those traditional pieces that is used in every FF. Plays during the "starry field" sequence when "The End" is displayed and you kinda just wanna sit there and listen to it as part of your reward for beating the game. This version seems to play at a bit faster pace than some of other variations.)
vs.
Nostalgia (This theme brings to mind the sound of the dragon squealing. I think it generally plays during flashback sequences, unlike with Reminiscence, which generally played when a lost memory was recovered.)
Nostalgia – 4
Another tie. Well, first we have to settle the last one. And since nobody chose to use the power of Sudden Death to break it, we go to a coin toss. Or rather,a good technological equivalent of a coin toss. I’ll use "Virtual Dice," a program invented by one of the voters here — I’ll leave it to him to take credit for it. This program does exactly what it is says — simulates the toss of a die. 1-3 will be Dear Friends, 4-6 for Reminiscence… and we have a 3, so it’s Dear Friends.
As for this current tie, same rule as before.
Next battle, second to last of the round…
As I Feel, You Feel (I think this is something that is often played in dungeon areas — I’m not really sure of any other time this plays. Definitely seems to bring to mind dungeons.)
vs.
Lenna/Reina’s Theme (Often plays in scenes involving this character. A tender theme.)
Id choose both but….. ;_;
"As I Fee, You Feel"
Hope Lenna/Reina’s Theme is on the Characters themes rumble I’ll vote for it there
I even can’t remember where As I See, You Feel exactly was played, since the only 2 dungeon themes I remember are Fate in Haze and Intension of the Earth. o_O
It is, and it seems it sticking around here too…
As You Feel, I Feel – 1
Lenna/Reina’s Theme – 4
Wonder where all my voters are? Well, anyway, nobody broke the tie on the last battle, so we need the result on that… The Prelude wins that one.
Final battle of the first round:
The Decisive Battle (This battle theme is first heard when Galuf plunges into singular battle against XDeath. It’s also used for the first form battle when you fight him as a final boss.)
vs.
My Home Sweet Home (If I’m not mistaken, this is the tune that plays in Butz/Bartz’s hometown.)
my vote goes for My Home Sweet Home
Stop putting these great tunes together! D:
Sigh… I think I’ll go with My Home, Sweet Home. Although The Decisive Battle is extremely good, My Home reminds me of the Lord of the Rings game for the SNES. Although the game itself was crappy, the music was extremely nice.
My Home Sweet Home – 4
You guys drive me wild — we have another tie. Next vote decides it, so if there’s anybody that wants a vote that hasn’t made a choice yet, please make it within the next 24 hours, or else I’m gonna have to go back to the old random pick. And I’m not moving on to the next round until the first one is properly closed out.
The Decisive Battle wins the computerized "coin toss."
And that’s the end of the first round and the end of those, hopefully. From now on, if there are anymore ties, we look to the previous votes to the determine the winner.
Here’s what’s left for the second round:
Ahead on Our Way
A Presentiment
Pirates Ahoy!
The Airship
Battle with Gilgamesh
Unknown Lands
The Prelude of the Empty Skies
The Decisive Battle
Dear Friends
The New Origin
The Prelude
Piano Lesson 8
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas
Mambo de Chocobo
Lenna/Reina’s Theme
Four Valiant Hearts
First battle of the second round…
Unknown Lands (Faris: "Where is this?" Galuf: "The continent of Grociana. A remote land where ferocious beasts dwell. How unfortunate that we were thrown here." Butz: "Galuf. I’m sorry. Because of us…" Galuf: "I told you, you didn’t have to come. … But, You guys have made my day.")
vs.
Mambo de Chocobo (Butz: "Hey, this one’s a black chocobo!" Lenna: "So they weren’t extinct!" Butz: "Well, let’s see if you can fly! Go!!")
Mambo de Chocobo
Mambo de Chocobo – 6
Seems people really like this particular chocobo theme. It wins fairly easily and heads into the quarterfinals.
Our next thrilling battle…
The Airship (Mid: "We’ll start right away! Butz, you guys should go rest in the bedroom." Butz: "I just had a dream that the work on the airship was finished already." Cid: "We’re done!!" Butz: "Wow! You guys are fast!!")
vs.
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas (Mid: "Grandpa! Are you all right?" Cid: "Whew! This is no time to act silly. I found new technology in a book. Now I can make the airship go underwater!" Butz: "Really!" Cid: "Nothing is impossible to Cid. Let’s go Mid!")
The airship theme or the submarine theme? Of course, as explained above, the submarine is really just the modified airship, but… Which will win? Cast your votes!
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas – 6
Definitely not much of a contest there. The submarine theme earns a berth (heh heh heh) in the quarter finals.
We move on to this battle…
Pirates Ahoy! (Butz: "This must be the pirates’ hideout. So that ship we saw was a pirate ship?" Lenna: "I wonder if we couldn’t get a ride?" Butz: "Uhh. these are PIRATES we’re talking about here.")
vs.
The Prelude (EXP: 1 Zillion — AP: 1 Zillion — Level: 99) ๐
Pirates Ahoy! – 5
The Prelude – 1
Ahead on Our Way (Butz: "I’m Butz. Journeying with a chocobo to nowhere in particular.")
vs.
Four Valiant Hearts (Galuf: "I MUST go. Please take me with you!!" Lenna: "Butz. What about you?" Butz: "I’ll continue my journey." Lenna: "Butz. Thank you so much! Goodbye." Galuf: "Farewell!")
better by just a little
Aww, man i missed a match.. ๐
Ahead on Our Way – 8
Four Valiant Hearts – 0
BTW, I was thinking of changing the blowout condition for this one to 5-0, given that the current amount of traffic seems to be no more than ten votes per match anyway, so if something were leading by 5-0, it would be hugely unlikely that the other would catch up. That’s what I’m gonna go with, unless there’s any objection.
Next battle is…
Battle with Gilgamesh (Gilgamesh: "I’ve been waiting behind this door all this time! I was getting anxious about what I’d do if you didn’t show up!" Butz: "Stand guard!!" … … Gilgamesh: "I was wrong. I can’t fight four people. I don’t stand a chance. Did you believe me!? Hey! I remembered urgent business! I’ll be back!")
vs.
The Prelude of the Empty Skies ("We are the monsters who have been sealed in the Cleft of Dimension for a millennium. Exdeath will unleash the power of the Void and a world of monsters, a world of darkness will be born!")
This is theme is just too Awesome
Battle with Gilgamesh – 8
The Prelude of the Empty Skies – 0
I woulda ended it sooner, but it was a holiday weekend, so I decided to go ahead and let it sit. The first round ended with a series of ties, now we can’t seem to get away from blowouts. Perhaps we’ll have at least a bit better battle with this…
The Decisive Battle (Exdeath: "Take this. You’ve made me mad! To the world of Death with you!! Flare! Holy! Meteo! Wh-, why won’t you die!" Galuf: "Not yet. I can’t die yet. Even if my life burns out. I will defeat you!!" Exdeath: "I cannot be defeated by anger or hatred." Galuf: "This is no mere rage, nor hatred!")
vs.
Lenna/Reina’s Theme (Butz: "But that sure was a shock. that Lenna was the princess of Tycoon." Lenna: "I’m sorry. I wasn’t intending to hide it." Butz: "But why were you going to the Wind Shrine by yourself?" Lenna: "Because my father is there. And when the wind stopped. I thought something bad had happened. So I snuck out of the castle alone. and then, that meteor came falling from the sky.")
Battle with Gilgamesh – 8
The Prelude of the Empty Skies – 0

When did Larry Butz make his way into a Final Fantasy game? I sure hope you don’t actually mean Bartz.
Also, Lenna’s theme, because she’s my favourite character in the game.
Just like Lenna/Reina, Salsa/Sarisa it was mistranslation
Also I choose Lenna/Reina’s Theme if it was VI
Decisive Battle then my vote would have gone to that one… but..
Well normally I would vote for The Decisive Battle but today I am in a relaxing mood so it’s Lenna’s Theme for me.
The Decisive Battle – 5
Well, that’s about as different as you can get from what we’ve been having. Towards the end there, "The Decisive Battle" manages to pull within just one vote, but it’s not enough. "Lenna/Reina’s Theme" goes on to the quarter finals.
Two battles left before those. First of those is…
A Presentiment (King Tycoon: "Something about the wind bothers me. I must go check the crystal of the Wind Shrine." Lenna: "Yes. I can feel it, too. But, by yourself?" King Tycoon: "Don’t worry.")
vs.
Dear Friends ("Oh, by the way, Boko and Koko have had children! They’re so cute, you should come meet them! It’s been one year since then. Lenna and Faris are busy with everything at their castle and Butz has left on another journey. So I think I’ll go to that place. Where Grandpa sleeps. To that place.")
A Presentiment – 2
Dear Friends – 7
"A Presentiment" is out of luck — "Dear Friends" moves on to the Quarter Finals. And we move on to the final battle of Round 2. That battle is…
The New Origin (Lenna: "Hey, don’t you hear something?" Faris: "Yeah, I hear it!" Cara: "Grandpa’s voice?" Butz: "No. The rustling of the trees?" Lenna: "The murmur of the Water?" Faris: "The flaring of Fire?" Cara: "The whisper of the Earth?" Butz: "I don’t know. I don’t know, but." Faris: "I can hear it." Lenna: "Yes, something warm. Let’s go!")
vs.
Piano Lesson 8 ("Please play some tunes. It might remind me of a song to teach you… … You’re getting better. That’s a nice tune. Here, I’ll teach you another song!")
I’m not really sure how "Piano Lesson 8" made it into to the second round, but sometimes the results are quirky. Not that it isn’t a good, zippy little tune, but does it really even have any sort of a fighting chance against the game’s closing credits theme? Cast your votes!
Ahead on Our Way
Pirates Ahoy!
Battle with Gilgamesh
Dear Friends
The New Origin
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas
Mambo de Chocobo
Lenna/Reina’s Theme
Above list is for reference, but you can see the updated results at any time by checking the first post in the thread. First battle of the quarter finals is…
Ahead on Our Way (Butz: "Aw, stop that. The meteor’s shock’s collapsed cliffs and made the ground split. And now, the road to Tule’s been blocked. Lenna: "But I have to get to the Wind Shrine." Galuf: "Ugh. unnh. To the Wind Shrine. got to hurry. to the Wind Shrine." Butz: "This old geezer too. You know what? I’m going to go with you." Lenna: "What? Really!!" Butz: "My dad. He said for me to travel the world and see things. And besides, the wind is calling." Galuf: "Yeah, yeah, say whatever you want! Really you just want to be with her!!" Butz: "Hey, you were awake!!")
vs.
Mambo de Chocobo (Mid: "’That black bird… It’s a black chocobo, isn’t it!? So there are some still alive!")
All of these tunes have done well to get this far. Here’s where it maybe starts getting harder. Cast your votes!
’cause I hate Chocobo Themes. <_<
Also, if you stickied this thread, Agent, why not sticky the VI-rumble, too?
Yes this is a hard one….
I’ll go with Ahead on our way
Also, if you stickied this thread, Agent, why not sticky the VI-rumble, too?
There’s a simple answer for that — I wasn’t the one who stickied this…
Mambo de Chocobo – 3
Only six votes? Come on, I know I have more voters than that. Somebody break the tie.
And while we wait for that, there’s no reason why we should wait for the next battle…
Battle with Gilgamesh
vs.
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas
"Battle with Gilgamesh" has proved amazingly popular — though not so much so outside this rumble in the past. Will it make it into the semi-finals here? Cast your votes!
I choose Battle with Gilgamesh ๐
And Also Mambo De Chocobo
Beyond the Deep Blue Seas – 2
Battle with Gilgamesh wins, but its stranglehold is beginning to loosen. Also, the vote for Mambo de Chocobo sends it to the next round and ends the chances for Ahead on Our Way.
Next up is…
Pirates Ahoy! ("We’ll be fine while the Captain is away! We’re pirates. We do what we like!"
vs.
Dear Friends (Mid: "A letter’s arrived! Cara: "Cid, Mid, how are you? It’s Cara. It looks like we were saved. Somehow, now it feels like that battle was all a dream. Since then I’ve traveled around various towns. Things have returned to how they were before, it’s so peaceful.)
Dear Friends – 5
Reasonably decent battle, "Dear Friends" goes through. Final battle of the quarter-finals…
The New Origin ("THE END!")
vs.
Lenna/Reina’s Theme (Cid: "No one can enter it. Beyond the desert, they say there are the ruins of a city. Butz: "How did King Tycoon?" Cid: "I don’t know." Mid: "The people here who said they saw him said that his body was floating in the air." Butz: "Floating!?" Lenna: "Father.")
Kinda sad that Pirates Ahoy! lost….
(or as the GBA version calls it, Ending Theme. Talk about lacking of ideas)
The New Origin – 3
Lenna/Reina’s Theme – 3
Well, I am now going to go back to my normal tiebreaker format for later rounds which I rather forgot about before. The winner will be determined based on the votes from the previous rounds…
The New Origin – 4/4, 5/5 (ended by blowout)
Lenna/Reina’s Theme – 4/5, 6/11
The New Origin got 100% in both of its previous battles. That secures it a spot in the semi-finals.
And here they are!
Battle with Gilgamesh
Dear Friends
The New Origin
Mambo de Chocobo
As always, you can check the updated results in the first post in the thread. First battle of the semi-finals:
Dear Friends
vs.
Mambo de Chocobo
Best Chocobo theme version
Mambo de Chocobo – 5
Wow. Kinda surprise here. Seems people really like this chocobo theme. Now for the other semi-final battle…
Battle with Gilgamesh
vs.
The New Origin
"Battle with Gilgamesh" has actually gone further than I expected it to, given how it’s fared before in the Gen FF rumble. Yet here, it stands on the cuff of a spot in the final. Or will it go down to the game’s closing credits theme, "The New Origin?" Cast your votes!
Battle with Gilgamesh – 4
The New Origin – 1
And now, our final battle of the music edition!
Battle with Gilgamesh
vs.
Mambo de Chocobo
Both of these have done really well. Can a chocobo theme actually win this? Or will the popular "Battle with Gilgamesh" take it all? Cast your votes!
sorry Mambo de Chocobo, your the best Chocobo theme but….
Battle with Gilgamesh – 5
Mambo de Chocobo – 1
Thanks to everybody that voted in the first edition, Music! Battle with Gilgamesh our triumphant winner.
I’ll probably be starting the next edition tomorrow evening. I was planning to do Memorable Quotes next, so that’s probably what I’ll be going with, that is, unless you guys are really against that or something in which case I’m open to suggestions. Feel free to talk about that or anything else until tomorrow evening, then.
Siren
Liquid Flame
Soul Gun
Archeoavis
Gilgamesh
Atomos
Tree Segments
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos
Twin Tania
Necrophobe
ExDeath (Galuf-only battle)
ExDeath
Neo ExDeath
Nomination Spot 1
Nomination Spot 2
Nomination Spot 3
No, I am not including the "super bosses," I.E. Omega Weapon, etc., or any of the summons.
First battle…
Liquid Flame (A boss that appears on the fire-powered ship. This thing can be rather dangerous because it can morph into three different forms — a hand, tornado and human, all of which behave differently. Naturally, it is generally weak against ice-based attacks but its hand form is immune to them. Additionally, it can use Fire 2 to heal itself. It has some powerful attacks that make it a boss that actually could defeat you if you’re overconfident / just not well-prepared.)
vs.
Tree Segments (These suckers appear in the Moore Forest and each has 7777 HP. They are all immune to several times of magic and 3 out of 4 of them have their own individual elements that they are immune to. All of them pack powerful magic that affects all targets as well as the ability to physically damage any single one of your characters. The boss FAQ for this game recommends the Blue Magic called Death Claw for a cheap win, or summon Titan for a less-cheap strategy.)
I have left open three nomination spots, so if anyone feels there’s any really cool boss I missed that definitely should be included, please go ahead and nominate it. Otherwise, I’ll just have to fill those spots myself.

Atomos
Tree Segments
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos
Twin Tania
Necrophobe
ExDeath (Galuf-only battle)
ExDeath
Neo ExDeath

For the boss pictures, I suggest you to use the boss index of http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/
They practically have everything in their FFV section.
As for the nominees, although I think there will be others, too, I nominate:
Abductor ( My favie <3 )
Gogo
Stroker
Azulmagia
What you choose, is up to you. I’d like to see those 4 in the rumble, tho. ^.^
Liquid Flame – 7
Tree Segments – 0
Thanks for the nominations, Sherlock. Regarding the pictures, I’m not sure I feel comfortable just using another site’s images. However, I suppose I could link to them…
The next battle is…
Soul Gun (A potentially dangerous boss at the Floating Ruins of Ronka. It has a beam attack that not only hits for powerful damage but also causes an effect like FFXII’s "Sap" on all your characters. Additionally, it has launchers that cast missiles capable of halving HP and causing the annoying "Old" effect. The game’s boss FAQ reports, however, that you can get rid of these suckers by using L5 Doom. Picture (I think…) (http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff5/images/enemies/soul%20gun%20(phoenix%20tower).gif))
vs.
ExDeath (Keeping in mind both the battle with him in his castle and the one at the end of the game. [But not the one with Galuf only.] In the castle he packs powerful magic as well as a dangerous Vacuum Wave attack and Hurricane [critical status] among others. However, he has a major weakness — which is that he can be defeated in a single round if you have Beastmasters release four Yellow Dragons against him. When you face him later on, watch out for some of the very toughest magic, as well as the infamous White Hole attack and Condemn [thirty second countdown to death.] Picture (http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff5/images/enemies/x-death%20(castle).gif))
I didnt see that there was a new match. Here is my vote
Also didnt show up im my list
Soul Gun
ExDeath. Soul Gun may sound extremely tough, but his speed (or rather, lack of it) makes him a pushover. That is, assuming you like dishing out lightning attacks repetitively at high speed and did prepare for the battle by creating red mages and training them up before the battle starts.
Shhh… Agent… You shouldn’t be hotlinking, tho, but upload them onto a picture hosting page…
Soul Gun – 1
ExDeath – 4
Not sure what happened that the update didn’t show — hopefully everything is okay now.
Next up…
Atomos (This sucker guards the top of the Barrier Tower. He has nearly 20,000 HP and uses the Comet spell then starts dragging a KOed party member towards a vortex. He also uses Demi, Quarter and Slow2. He can be one tough nut to crack, though if you want an easy battle, strategies include using Gil Toss or Dark Shock/L5 Doom. Apparently he is also vulnerable to Sleep.)
vs.
Necrophobe (This boss is actually optional, but since he guards a save point, I think it’s safe to say most players will probably fight him. He has over 40,000 HP and is surrounded by Barriers that cast powerful magic. If you don’t kill him too quickly, Gilgamesh will show up and you get a chance to steal the powerful Genji Armor.)
I think I’ll just dispense with the pictures…
Ahahahaaha… Never was it so TRUE. XD
And I’ll go with it, because I didn’t think Necrophobe was remindable in any form, while Atomos killed me a few times and actually looks way more cool.
(that didnt even make sense?)
Eat wormholes, b1tches!
And it smokes too. XD
Necrophobe – 1
Funny, I expected that battle to be closer.
All right, next battle…
Archeoavis (A dangerous boss with two forms inside the Floating Ruins of Ronka. It has a lot of powerful multi-target attacks such as Poison Fangs and Blaze. As if that isn’t bad enough, once you finally take away its high HP, it appears in a regenerated form with new attacks including Entangle [paralyze status] and the infamous Maelstrom. As far as tactics, they include using elemental weaknesses against the first form and then simply pounding away at the second. This boss is also weak against Flash to blind it and the second form apparently can also be taken down by L5 Doom.)
vs.
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos (This game’s version of the Magus Sisters. Thus, watch out for the dangerous Delta Attack which deals heavy damage and can also stone/silence a target. They also use powerful third level magic, as well as special attacks such as Snow Storm and Rainbow Wind. However, they have a number of weaknesses, including the fact that they’re undead. They are also apparently vulnerable to Condemn, Death Claw and Odin.)
Archeoavis – 0
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos – 4
This game’s version of the "Magus Sisters" goes on to the next round. Let’s just go ahead and get this next battle out of the way…
Siren (This boss is like the sirens of old in that she tries to lure your party with false images — they all think they’re seeing their family. Thing is, it doesn’t work properly with Galuf because he doesn’t recognize Krile due to his amnesia, and thus he’s able to snap everybody else out of it. This boss is capable of Hasting herself. She also uses fairly powerful physical and poison attacks for the point in the game you’re at, as well as slow and sleep on your characters. She is immune to elemental attacks in her normal form, but sometimes switches to an undead form.)
vs.
Neo ExDeath (Has multiple parts and uses some of the games most dangerous attacks including Meteo, Maelstrom, Grand Cross and Vacuum Wave. Characters alive at end of battle determines the exact way that the ending goes.)
One of the very first bosses up against the very last. Right now, the underdogs don’t seem to be winning. Will this battle change that, or will things go pretty much as expected here? Cast your votes!
Neo ExDeath – 4
Wow, best battle yet in this edition. Neo ExDeath wins by just one vote.
Time for the next battle…
ExDeath (Galuf-only battle) (The other two versions of ExDeath have been voted into the next round, so I guess we’ll see what happens with this one. This is an interesting battle because you have only Galuf to fight using. Actually, you can’t "lose" this battle as such because Galuf is actually pretty much immediately KOed, but he just keeps on fighting and fighting until finally the battle ends. It’s kinda an interesting battle, though it can kinda suck, though, if say, you forgot it was coming up and assigned Galuf a class such as "White Mage.")
vs.
Azulmagia (Here’s one that’s kinda interesting. Azulmagia = blue mage, of course. This battle is optional, but it’s one you’ll probably want to fight. He has over 25,000 HP. Located within the Castle Prison, his blue magic can make him quite dangerous, but it’s also a great opportunity to learn blue magic you may have missed. He has 17 out of the game’s 30 blue magic spells, including Condemn, Roulette, L2Old and Guardian. Watch out also for Circle [removes character from the battle] and his somewhat powerful at times regular attack. He is weak against poison.)
ExDeath (Galuf-only battle) – 0
Azulmagia – 3
And so the powerful blue mage earns a spot in the second round. Next up…
Gilgamesh (Considering all appearances by him. He first appears to trouble Galuf in ExDeath’s prison, but he’s not really much of a threat there. He follows your party to to the Big Bridge where he’s a lot more troublesome. Watch out in particular for the Jump attack. He shows up yet again with Enkidoh, who is actually more dangerous than he is. Then there’s the bizarre battle in ExDeath’s castle. In this battle, he tries to pull out a legendary sword on you, but it turns out he actually ended up with "Excalipur." Whoops! Finally, he shows up in the N-Zone, but ends up turning to your side and helps out with Necrophobe. In all, this boss adds interest to the game, but for the most part isn’t much of a threat.)
vs.
Abductor (This boss appears on Solitary Island to abduct your party. It uses a normal attack and an attack that puts a character in critical. It is beatable, but you don’t have to win. If you don’t win, he reappears later at the gate to Val Castle and adds in attack that absorbs HP.)
I have a feeling I know which way this is going to go. Two battles left in this round, so let’s just go ahead and do this one.
Abductor
Gilgamesh – 2
Abductor – 1
Twin Tania (In the N-Zone. This sucker uses all sorts of powerful attacks including a normal physical attack, Snow Storm, Mind Blast, Tidal Ray and Mega Flare. It also charges up to the powerful Giga Flare. Additionally, it is extremely fast in its attacks.)
vs.
Stoker (He’s in the Temple at Solitary Island. This is tricky battle because there are four targets, but only one real Stoker. And as if that’s not enough, it’s really not a good idea to be using all-target magic or summons because he just counters it with the powerful Blaze spell on all your allies. Other attacks include a fairly strong normal attack, Hurricane (critical HP), Mind Blast and Charm. Yikes!)
Oh, and effective, well already, actually, though now I’m officially announcing it, all battles are three days long, at least until we’re sure things have stabilized with the Shrine — just like over at the Gen FF Rumble. (Assuming I’m even able to get on once the three day period is up to update.) Not sure if it’ll make any difference, but there you go.
Twin Tania – 2
Stoker takes it by one vote.
And that ends the round! Let’s see what we have left for the next round:
Liquid Flame
Gilgamesh
Atomos
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos
ExDeath
Neo ExDeath
Stoker
Azulmagia
First up:
Atomos (Zeza: "Now!! Destroy the antenna! Atomos: "You wish. But I’m here to stop you!!" Butz: "We did it!" Galuf: "Zeza! Can you hear us!? We’ve destroyed it!" Zeza: "Escape is futile. Galuf! It’s dangerous here. Get out quickly. The built up energy will swell and explode!" Lenna: "Dragon! Let’s ride him." Galuf: "Zeza! We’re coming!" Zeza: "Don’t come! Wait in the submarine. I’m fine, I’ll catch up to you." … … Galuf: "Zeza. you knew this would happen all along! And you sacrificed yourself." … … Zeza: "Of course I knew. But, there was no way I could send you. Warriors of the Crystal, it’s up to you guys now. Galuf., Butz, Lenna, Faris. Don’t worry. I’ll come to help you again.")
vs.
Azulmagia (Monsters: "We are the monsters who have been sealed in the Cleft of Dimension
for a millennium. Exdeath will unleash the power of the Void and a world of monsters, a world of darkness will be born! We can’t let you stand in his way! You will die here in the Cleft of Dimension, by the hand of our dark powers! Hehehe.")
Atomos – 5
Azulmagia – 0
Azulmagia can’t even muster a little love and at this point, Atomos is looking like an extremely strong contender. Next up…
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos (Triton: "Oink, Oink! From Master Exdeath, Oink!" Nergrade: "An order for me to, Oink!" Phobos: "KILL YOU! Oink!")
vs.
Stoker (I was wondering who it might be. Weaklings! Hahaha. Stoker will take care of you!!")
Stoker – 2
Two more battles left in this round…
Liquid Flame: (Queen Karnak: "You people are standing in the way of my revival! I must get rid of you!!" … … Butz: "Queen Karnak!" Queen Karnak: "I was being controlled by something. An evil spirit. A being who seeks darkness.")
vs.
Neo ExDeath ("I am Neo ExDeath! I shall erase all memory, all existence, all dimensions. Then I too, shall disappear for, eternity!")
I didn’t sense an overly large amount of enthusiasm for Liquid Flame the last time around, though apparently it did have enough support to make it here. Will it have any support this time around, though, or will this just be a blowout? Or we will have a surprise and the underdog will defeat the mighty?
Liquid Flame – 5
Neo ExDeath – 2
So it looks like we have the underdog victory after all. Liquid Flame on the semi-finals.
Final battle of the second round…
Gilgamesh (Gilgamesh: "I’ve been waiting behind this door all this time! I was getting anxious about what I’d do if you didn’t show up!" Butz: "Stand guard!!" … … Gilgamesh: "I was wrong. I can’t fight four people. I don’t stand a chance. did you believe me!? Hey! I remembered urgent business! I’ll be back!")
vs.
ExDeath (Butz: "ExDeath! You can’t get away with this!" ExDeath: "Fwahaha! Do you even know what I’m trying to do?" Butz: "What??" ExDeath: "I’m returning the world to its original form." Butz: "To a world of evil!" ExDeath: "No, you don’t understand. I won’t let you interfere!!")
The game’s big baddie vs. his crony, Gilgamesh. The "Neo" version of ExDeath just lost– will the original recipe brand face the same fate? Cast your votes!
Gilgamesh – 5
ExDeath – 0
Liquid Flame
Gilgamesh
Atomos
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos
First battle of the semi-finals:
Liquid Flame
vs.
Atomos
Liquid Flame has been something of a surprise to make it this far. But will it pull out another underdog victory here, or might this be another blowout? Cast your votes!
Liquid Flame – 3
Atomos – 4
Hmm, before I tallied it, I thought it was a tie. Instead Atomos manages it by just one vote. Surprisingly strong showing for Liquid Flame.
All right, time for the second battle of the semi-finals:
Gilgamesh
vs.
Triton, Nergrade and Phobos
Once again, there seems to be a clear favorite here, though one can never quite be sure. Let’s see how things go down– cast your votes!
dodo da dodo da do do do da da chk chk chk na na na na na na NA na NA na na NA na da na na da da da da na na na na da.
Gilgamesh
Best. EVAR!
Gilgamesh – 7
Triton, Negrade and Phobos – 0
This game’s version of the Magus Sisters made it to the semi-finals, but they were absolutely no match against Gilgamesh.
Final battle of this edition:
Gilgamesh
vs.
Atomos
Gilgamesh seems at a clear advantage here, but Atomos has been quite well-liked as a boss, too. Let’s see how this final shakes out. This is for the win! Cast your votes!
Gilgamesh – 4
Atomos – 2
Gilgamesh gets the expected win, though it’s closer than I would have expected. So what’s next? NPCs? Actually, I’m not entirely certain if I want to continue– it takes up a fair amount of time for a rumble that only a few people are really interested in. I mean, if you guys want me to really badly, I’ll continue, but otherwise I’m not sure yet if I want to keep going with this rumble…
