The song suggestions thread!

The thread in which we can post what sort of songs we are looking for right now, and people can post with suggestions on songs that might fit the bill. Uploading or linking to youtubes of stuff is awesome, but not neccessary.

Anyways, to start things off, I am looking for more bouncy and upbeat songs that are sung by females and are in French. Any time period is good, I like lots of French stuff from the 60’s.

When I think of upbeat, bouncy and French, I think of Yelle 😀

Not entirely sure if you like this French electro music, though, but I think it’s such fun dancing music.

I have also uploaded France Gall music, but it’s the 70’s pop Gall, not the ye-ye 60’s bubblegum pop, but I think her 70’s songs are better either way:

I am looking for like super sugar-rush kawaii songs like Waka Laka and Caramelldansen. ^__^

I have made a little package for you to download, NDI. It’s four songs, all sung in a mid-tempo beat, but in pure French. It’s by Grace Jones, but please do not let that put you off. These songs capture the early vibe of pre-hip/hop and R&B, plus with a pinch of New Romantic.

All you have to do is download the file, and unzip it. So, I hope you keep an open mind, and give them a listen.

They were recorded between 1977-1981.

I don’t really have any suggestions, but if anyone wants to suggest some indie/alternative songs I’d be into that. Something along the lines of Tiger Lou, Snailhouse, We Are Scientists and all that jazz.

Btw jazz or blues stuff would also be mint.

Paedo Ninja: For jazz/fusion stuff, I’d check into Return to Forever, Soundscape, The Tangent, or Karcius. Some of it borders on Progressive Rock, or Progressive Fusion, but, all four bands definitely tend to have a very jazzy sound, not to mention Return to Forever features Chick Corea, who is a wonderful jazz keyboardist and pianist.

Try Strawberry Machine they’re very cutesy. YMCK is cute too, but they’re more 8-bit sounding. That’s all I can think of for now :\

These days I’m really into techno and techno/rock and stuff like that — try searching for these songs:

I don’t usually go for techno but these are sort of like a wierd crossover between rock and techno/trance.

Not sure about any recommendations, but the website Pandora.com is great for recommending music. You basically just put the song or artist you like and then it will find other such songs or artists like the one you entered. Very helpful site.
