What is your best moment whilse playing classic Final Fantasy?
Mine had to be when I finally beat FFII after I got round to leveling up my characters HP/MP and also figuring how to do so.
Another was seeing the Airship Giant Whale summoned.
However, another really notable moment was when Cyan sees his recently-departed wife and child board the Phantom Train. The way in which that tied in to prior events was brilliant and emotional.
1. In the shot scene during battle when both Edgar and Locke was suprised that Terra used magic.
2. When Relm came in to battle with Ultros who refused to get his portrait done.
and
3. When Strago (I think) refuses Relm to join the group but bad to because they know what effect it can do.
Maybe I should also add funny moments in any classic Final Fantasy game.
-FFVI, Edgar & Sabin’s coin scene.
-FFVI, Saving Shadow. Cool because he didn’t die like everyone else seems to if they ask you to leave them behind. Of course he’s a ninja.
Worst Moments:
-FFVI, The Gold Bear. Finding out a fucking bear can steal half my gold.
-FFVI, Finding out dinosaurs can cast Ultima.
FFVI – Opera Scene (yawn, i know)
FFVI – Opening and Ending to game
Worst,
FFVI – Getting hit with Level ? Magic killing all my characters
FFII – Encounter rate and just plane difficulty…..

2) The f*ing wall
1. Watching the WOB turn into the WOR in FFVI
Worst:
1. How F*cking difficult FFV can be.
FF V – Every scene Gilgamesh was in (especially the last one).
Worst:
FFV – Everything else about the damn game.
FFVI – Ultros, lol; Edgar and Locke’s surprise at seeing Terra’s magic; "Mr. Thou" scene was a bit amusing too
FFIV – getting a silver apple for Rydia, lol (9 more to go =P )
FFI – optional dungeons
-Worst
FFV – gil turtle
FFIV – going into battle in the magnetic cavern with full armor and weapons
FFIII – the level grinding
FFII – exp grinding; getting lost trying to find a way into the dreadnought’s construction site
1. The opera scene in Final Fantasy VI, clearly the greatest scene in ANY Final Fantasy game to this date.
2. When Palom and Porom cast "break" on themselves to stop the walls from closing in and crushing everyone. Followed by when you can heal them… dramatic 16 bit action, lol.
3. The scene with Edward when he sees Anna’s ghost
4. When Edger says to Relm "I’ll see you in 10 years, kid" That was an lol moment.. ^^
The worst Moment…
Guy being able to speak with giant beavers… @.@
2. Cecil becomes a Paladin- FFIV
3. The final and epic battle with Kefka- FFVI
4. Final Fantasy music – all FF
5. YOU SPOONY BARD! (LOL)- FFIV
it was a slight mentioning, geez honkey.
FINAL FANTASY V’S MUSIC!!!!!!!
It sounds like a freaking corny hentai…
Not to mention that the battle music makes me vomit everything bad about every evil RPG in the world (Earthbound, Mystic Quest, etc.).
It is really bad music. Definatley the worst in the series.
When did that happen?
Best

Ultros – seriously that guy annoys me
Ultros – seriously that guy annoys me
Blasphemy! Ultros is awesome.
I was very impressed with the scene where Celes attempts suicide if you fail to keep Cid alive.
And anything with Ultros, because he is cool.
EDIT: But yeah that Keyword system blows.
I completly forgot about Celes suicide attempt – great scene

Worst:
Guy talking to beavers in Final Fantasy II. What the hell, man?? That was shitty.
The posion water of Doma which was a terrible shock and when they leave the phantom train and it pulls away with Cyan’s Wife and Son that was very sad I think in some cases much more sad then the death of Aeris really which doesn’t seem so plausible sometimes, but those two do
FINAL FANTASY V’S MUSIC!!!!!!!
It is really bad music. Definatley the worst in the series.
HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously. HATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite was the first time Terra transformed into an Esper. It was great. 🙂
FFI – Bahamut’s Lair
FFI – summoning the airship
Worst
FFII – The final boss is impossible.
FF3 killing Bahamut yeah
FF4 cid and yang alive
FF4 killing bahamut with while i have half health and no reflect
Worst:FF3 butt kicked by leviathans water attack
FF4: tellah being the only actual death
FF4 missing augments
FF4 Final boss doing Bigbang twice in a row killing everyone
wow I didn’t realize that reflect works on bahamut. I would just let him kill my party and use well timed kain jumps so he’d nuke things when I’d be in the air to survive.
maybe, but it works
1. The opera scene (all of it!)
2. The scene where gau meets his father(aww…)
3. The end of FFVI (ooooh…)
4. Where Sabin meets Gau (I laughed myself sick!)
5. The poisoning scene in Doma (That was so sad…)
Second would have to go to fighting Zemus at the end of the game. When I was a boy, 8 or 9 I think, I walked downstairs to find my mom playing against his second form and then she killed it. I’ll never forget what she said as soon as he began to shake. "If he turns into something else I am tossing this thing out the window."
To be fair she had been fighting it for nearly a week.
The worst would have to be Edward and all things to do with Edward. No offence to those who like him I just never found anything to do with him particularlly fun and that’s important in a game.
Why are you talking about white and pink sneakers in french?
Anyway, most horrible moment in one of the classics for me was:
In FF4, when you lose all of the light crystals and all of the earth crystals… then you go: D’awwww…. Why didn’t I see that one coming?
I lol’d at this, and +1 on that Peechaboo.
best
1. Opera Scene – FF6
2. Locke trying to talk to Celes (sad moment), she runs off – FF6
3. Finding Yang alive – FF4
worst
1. can’t think of any!
You mean the sneezing chupon?
… What flying worm?
Ultros? The Air Force?
Worst: Spending 3 days so far grinding in the ??? Cave (FFIII) and I still can’t get a damned Onion Gauntlet. Is it just me, or is the Green Dragon the rarest of the three? I’m trying some more as I type. Red Dragons and Onion Shields are now some of my most hated things in Final Fantasy. I don’t use shields in the first place! Max HP grinding and level 99 grinding were also really annoying.
I’ve only played the first three Final Fantasies, but I’m planning to move on to IV soon. And if I think that the Onion Equipment is hard to get in FFIII, then I’m going to probably want to kill Puddingway by the time I get Rainbow Pudding in IV. And that isn’t even talking about collecting tails to trade for Onion Equipment…I am dreading these sidequests.
Also, FFV has great music, and if you don’t believe me listen to "Clash on the Big Bridge" or "My Home Sweet Home". The final battle themes and the main theme are pretty good too.
-FFVI, Finding out dinosaurs can cast Ultima.
OH MAH GOSH!!! IM SO DEAD!!!
I like quite a bit of II, particularly the deaths/sacrifices of… um… O_O What were their names again? The good men who died?? The white mage, the monk and the paladin.
I also liked in the same game when the characters meet Leila and also when the Lamia Queen tries to tempt Firion by taking the image of the princess (gosh, I’m really bad with names for some reason!). The emperor’s resurrection and revelation that Leon is the Dark Knight are also great.
I absolutely hated Edward, he was the most annoying character to control, every time he lost a fair bit of hp he’d run off hiding, and he was useless when he wasn’t hiding in the first place.
Finding out Cecil and Golbez were brothers didn’t really add anything to the story for me. I liked that Cecil’s past was shrouded in mystery, but to just throw in that Golbez is his brother just seemed pointless. Also FuSoYa just seemed to be how Tellah would have been if he hadn’t died. I understand his role in the story, to explain the Lunarians and the Moon etc but using him as a fighting character for 5 minutes wasn’t fun.
I – The opening sequence with that familiar FF theme, setting the heroes off on their quest.
II – When Leon snaps out of it and joins the heroes.
III – Not very far into this one yet, but I’d have to say my favorite part was defeating Djinn and seeing his curse lifted 😀
IV – Woa, where to start.. Cecil becoming a Paladin, Palom and Porom’s sacrifice, really all of the characters’ sacrifices, and the epic, EPIC ending 😀
V – Hmmm.. I’m roughly 15 hours into this one and I’ve only played through it once. For me, the only real moment I can say I remember fondly is fighting Gilgamesh on the big bridge (So far that’s been my ONLY encounter with him :() because I heard the battle theme for that particular part, and was anxiously awaiting that scene in the game 😀
VI – Again, where to start.. LOVE the opening sequence, the opera, VERY shocking part where the world was destroyed by Kefka (Seriously I’ve never been so swept off my feet in shock by a video game moment), and when you get the airship in the WOR, where just Edgar, Celes, and Setzer decide life IS worth fighting for, and they’re gonna fight on and stop Kefka. Coupled with the ensuing music, that was one of my favorite parts in the whole series.
So there you have it 😀 I think the recent ports and remakes of the first six (I have Dawn of Souls: I & II on GBA, III DS, IV GBA & IV DS, and V & VI GBA) are the best versions, not to mention the definitive versions. Can’t beat watching your favorite characters finally gain voices and 3D graphics 😀
