Working from referrences is good to perfect your visualisation, overall drawing techniques and get to know what are good proportions and general stuff like that, but I’ve always been uneasy with people showing me stuff that they did based on a well known artist’s work and calling these "my drawings".
There’s a tremendous difference between the first and last pic for example.
If you are not fully confident about your technique, take an existing illustration from one of your favorite artist like you are already doing, but take only the character’s pose and work from there. From the pose, create your character’s traits from scratch by following the model’s "proportions guideline".
After a while, and with dedication, you’ll be able to come up with great pics like the first one out of your own imagination.
But it are pretty nice sketches, I do fancy the shadework in the last one and the Rikku pic. Nice, keep it up! =)

(Still waiting for MY book!!! :P)
