Thanks a lot! This really fills a gap in my collection–I’m going to burn a new copy of the CD with the pukey songs replaced with this end credits suite.

As for the complete score, I can’t say if it’s SFX-free or not. I was just hoping for the credits and perhaps another missing song or two that I could add to my disc.

Does anyone have the working link for the HP: CoS complete score? Awhile back someone posted a video on YouTube showing the actual, real-deal COMPLETE score, no sfx, no dialogue, 100% real. I’ll see if I can find it, but it really exists!

I’m pretty positive a complete score without SFX has not leaked (well, some people in a very limited insider collector’s circle might have it of course). There is some tracking in the score so maybe that youtube thing you heard just got sfx-free music from the first score or other sources, like the DVD (which contains some sfx-free music bits if I’m not mistaken). I haven’t ripped any of it myself though so can’t help you out I’m afraid.

Yea he’s right.. I very well know all the released music of Harry Potter. This is unreleased music. If there will ever be a complete score released, I would buy it. So I would very much like to hear this score if anyone knows how to get it. As of course for the other Harry Potter scores from John Williams.

oh, me too. I am not a huge fan of either composers, but I do love their potter scores. Doyle’s stands as my favorite score

Doyle is one of my favorite composers. His score for Harry Potter is a very beautiful score. But in my opinion the way Williams worked on the Potter films fits the most with what I had imagined for the series.

But maybe that has something to do with the fact that he’s the first one to have written music for the series. i dunno

That one still has SFX in the background, and the music starts to fade into the background at certain parts. I mean, was there every an official release of this track? Because sometimes it’s really hard to hear the actual music.

Hmmm, I think I might 2 tracks that no one has from "Half-Blood Prince" im not sure though:

Persuing Malfoy (NO SFX)
Fireworks (Alternate Mix)

Persuing Malfoy is the part where the Trio follow Malfoy through Knockturn Alley, this one was ripped from the website, but it’s actually in decent quality for my standars and has no sfx, it’s better than the one on the hbp complete score with sfx in it. The Alternate Mix of Fireworks is the same edit as in the opening credits except this Alternate Mix has the backgroundinstruments and the percussion noticably louder, not everyone could notice it, but ive worked with editing music for many years now, so i know the difference when i hear it.

Fireworks (Alternate Mix):
First off, do NOT expect a huge difference between this and the one heard during the end credits of Half-Blood Prince. There’s a differece betweeen an "Alternate Version" and an "Alternate Mix". Alternate Mix simply means it’s the same but mixed together differently, so its different but not drastically. In this alternate mix of Fireworks, a couple of instruments in the background that can scarcly be heard in the original have a much bigger presence, and the percussion is considerably amplified.

Ya i’ve been looking for a while but i have yet to find one with NO sfx i have a complete version ( a dvd rip most likely @128) a 3 disc (with minimal sfx but still a few) which I think isn’t to bad but people who are very picky might notice.

With minimal SFX, eh? The one I have is 2CDs, and really sucks. There was no effort at all to get rid dialogue–which is the number one thing to eliminate when you’re making your own bootleg.

I’ve got one that is similar to this one–some of the track names are different, and the division between Disc 1 and Disc 2 is different. But there isn’t even a CD 3. I’m interested in hearing some of those alternates (unless they are the originals from the real score). Before anyone asks me for a link, the soundtrack I’m talking about can be found elsewhere–just search it on Google; it might even be on here.

The complete scores had SFX…. As far as I know, there aren’t HP complete scores without SFX.

Not entirely true, since that are… Like the name implies… recording sessions, and as far as I know recording sessions are the tracks originally wrote by the composer and sent to the studios’ audio guys, which might edit/cut/mix them, or simply don’t use some…. I’d say the Sorcerer’s Stone Recording Sessions represent the Williams’ vision of the movie, but they aren’t necessarily a Complete Movie Score in the way it got shown to the public.

I’ve seen posts like this in a couple of different places and I’m not sure where people got this idea that only what is specifically heard in the film is the complete score. In musical terms, score is most often used as a synonym for sheet music, in other words, the actual paper that the music is written on. So if you’re going by that definition, then yes, the recording sessions for Sorceror’s Stone is not the complete score for the film, as it is a recording of a performance of the music, and not the music itself. But score has also come to be accepted as a term for the music composed for a film, and generally refers both to its written form and any recordings thereof. Therefore, "complete score" is not necessarily the correct term for the recording of the music as used in the film. A more accurate term for that would be to call it the "film edit", since as we all know, directors and sound editors will often take bits of the music from different parts of the film, (or if it’s a franchise, from other films in the franchise) and edit them together in different ways so there’s some music underscoring scenes that they’ve decided need music and the composer didn’t compose any for that scene, or if they decide they don’t like the music that was there, or if they re-edited the scene and the music composed for it no longer works for the current edit.

With that in mind, the term "complete score" can and should be used to refer to the final version of all the music the composer intended to be used in the final film, whether it was ultimately used in the film or not. And it typically includes any concert suites of any themes or other tracks from the film recorded during the recording sessions for the film, and sometimes, though not necessarily alternate versions of cues from the film, though these will usually be included in the commercial releases of the complete score, and sometimes on the original soundtrack release.

The links from the original post are dead, and these were the version I was looking for (the original CDs extracted in mp3, not fanmade rips) since I’m not looking for complete scores but only the main tracks… Does someone still have it and may reupload it?
