So there are still some tracks we don’t have. Right?

Music collections 1 and 2(originally LPs, I presume) have been covered by the CD I uploaded AFAIK. There’s another CD with the catalog number of KICA-2112, that covers some of the songs on the image album(another LP, I guess). The two OSTs currently available cover all of the music actually in the anime, while the image album would cover music inspired by the anime or discarded songs. I’ll see if I can track down "Area 88 Original Album".

i am truly sorry for necrobumping a 6+ months old thread, but the guys here seem quite knowledgeable regarding the area 88 anime.
my question is not for the ova, because i have the all 3 OST from it, my question is, do any of you have the second ost of the TV version? i already have the first one (got it off GH).

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a better thread to post this, even if it entails Necro-bumping, but here goes…
First off, the awesome Area 88 Soundtrack that was posted (Arcade Version I think) was removed for ToS Violations, deletions, and/or time expirations. Would a reupload be okay? Furthermore, I have been combing the entire intarwebz for "Capcom Music Generation Area 88 Original Soundtrack" and I thought this would be the best place to ask if anyone has it. I was even willing to buy it but it was long sold out everywhere… Finally, if nobody has the download, should I ask GoronMoron or something? He seems to be the next best guy…

I’m trying to tag Act III on my Itunes, but for the life of me, I cannot find info on who did what on it. I’ve downloaded it from here & galbadia, but the artist info is listed as "Various" or "Area88". I’ve flexed my google-fu, but this machine won’t translate pages that are in Japanese, and all the ones in english haven’t got the info I’m looking for. Can anyone help? ^^;

and of course it doesn’t translate Japanese…. google does a somewhat decent job if you use it’s translator, but it’s still not the same as actually translating it yourself. Though…. someone who knows Japanese would be able to give a better translation.

I had all three of the Area88 soundtracks -in my hand- while I was in Yokohama in 1994, but I put them back in favor of the Gunsmith Cats image album.. And then a couple of months later, all my cds BUT the GSC got stolen.. >.<

Thanks to a couple of anime conventions, ordering sites, and places like this, I have them all BACK now. 😀

I have got KICA-2115 (Area 88 Act III Burning Mirage) thanks to a link I got here.
I am looking for more Area 88 (1986) OST, for instance, [Act III Burning Mirage] lacks the Opening theme "How far to paradise".

It is because (Redbook) audio data on a CD doesn’t have the same data correction as non-audio (ISO 9660 etc.) data , and so different programs (+hardware) may eventually come with a different rip of the same material.
So there are particular ripping procedures/software to do "clean" audio rips. The log is simply some info on how it was done (software, settings, drive, etc.), so that if the rips had errors, they are logged.

But wouldn’t you notice if it was ripped wrongly without the log? Bad rip. ok. but would the bad rip be, audio track skipping some seconds or such.

The difference doesn’t have to be audible. Think of lossy codecs: they provide a different, more compact representation of the original data (=they hold less information) yet can be transparent to the ear.

So, having a log, you get to know if some tracks had errors or not. What if some of the tracks actually have errors in the Log, but by ear you don’t get it?
By ear they sound just fine. No skips not nothing.

It means the copy is slightly different from the original material, as simple as that.

By the way, some of the Area 88 (1986) OSTs are missing from vgmdb, it could be useful to add them. I think I do not have an account them, but I am going to open one soon.
