The music itself ? Mostly orchestral, epic, majestic, mysterious, enchanting are words wich can describe it accurately. Really an excellent score, with several superb highlights, and a very thematic and melodic approach (even if it borrows sometimes from other composers). Highly recommended if you liked Lair or Lineage 2.

Thanks to streichorchester who gave the tip.
Thank’s a lot for this share ! ๐
ps: Gaston lagaffe, cool……… ;p
ps: And remember that people, say "thank you" if you like this download !!!
He he, thanks also for appreciating my avatar.
I’m loving the track 03 :3
The Orchestral are so impressive, near of Dragon quest VIII, and other Final Fantasy Orchestral………….
And nobody say "thank you" ?????? -_-‘
This music is really good.
I love so much the orchestral scores and hope you can offer some other treasure like this one.
Big thanks again.
Some tracks are corrupted > 18, 19, 20
I cant play none of this 3 tracks………….
if possible to upload only this 3 tracks, pleaseeeeee ^^
(ps: woh, the track 21 are terrible o_O)
– try with different players
– check your downloaded archive if it’s corrupted
Tell me how it goes after trying.
It’s work perfectly on VLC media, but not on wmp, maybe its just my codec.
Sorry to waste you’re time……….
thank’s again for this magical upload. ^^
Thank you very much for uploading – & you can count on me to want more… Well, if I could send you a 1TB drive and fifty quid and ask you to give me absolutely everything you have, that’d be good too — but I’ll suffice by just encouraging you (as strongly as possible) to continue uploading! ๐
CHEERS ๐
I did some digging and found out from this site (http://home.comcast.net/~pcorajr/2005/10/lucky-friday.html) that the music is composed by Jee-Su Lee and performed by the Czech Praha Philharmonic Orchestra. I assume this information is reliable, but take it with a grain of salt if you want.
Now we need to find out his website/company/portfolio to see if he/she’s done more work like this. ๐

Thumbs up. I spent quite some time trying, and you got it.
Thanks for this score! Nice music, I like this kind of orchestral writing:). Shame that quality is not great – 128 kbps:(. And few tracks works kinda strange – as a video files. But it’s not problem:).
If you like it, you’ll adore another similar score I’ve found by coincidence (boy I was lucky!). I’ll upload it in some days.
I’m waiting then:). And I think that it’s kinda interesting that crappy korean mmo’s has got great, orchestral scores, and some big western or eastern productions, with much bigger budget’s, are still on synths…:)
Agreed for big western or eastern productions with much bigger budgets, but not for "crappy korean mmo". These mmo are all but crappy, they benefit from sublime artworks made by incredibly talented artists, rich and complex gameplay, unbelievably vast and rich universe, top notch level design, … It’s totally coherent given these aspects that they also have wondrous music.

While I wouldn’t say Western mmorpgs have worse music, I think they do tend to follow certain patterns in terms of their music. They are, after all, games based on ancient wars and fighting, so the music will contain lots of percussion and chanting choruses and other fantasy-movie cliches. That’s simply what everyone expects. Ironically, that means in Korean mmorpgs there is less pressure to conform to the standards and the composers are given more artistic freedom.
As to why Western games might use samples more often, I just think that’s because the composer isn’t doing enough begging. ๐

Just a little teasing. Here’s the first track of what I’ll upload :
http://www.sendspace.com/file/0y67ak
The only thing I’ll reveal is that the composer is one of my 3 favourite eastern composers, I’ve already uploaded several of his cues in my Orchestral thread. Guess who it is. ๐
I don’t recognize the composer’s style in that track (other than it sounds distinctly Japanese.) It’s not Kaoru Wada is it?
The answer will be revealed in some days. Everybody will enjoy this fabulous (I mean it) score.
this score is absolutely incredible!
every single track is so overwhelming, each of them in its own way, it’s just astounding. i’m no expert, but the orchestration definitely appears greatly crafted to me and the melodies are really nice too.
I just cannot believe it’s been made "only" for a game. it surpasses many soundtracks made for movies imho.
it’s by far one of the best (if not the best) scores i’ve been given the chance to discover here! *many many thanks!* =)
i’m also really surprised (in a bad way this time) that such a sheer amount of work hasn’t been properly released and ends up being so unfairly confidential.
ps: … and sorry for my broken english. -_-;

For me – at about one minute – it sounds a bit like Superman Theme by John Williams. So if it sounds like Williams than I will say that it can be Hisaishi;). Anyway, whatever it is, I’m waiting for whole thing because this theme is just great – perfect orchestral writing imo:). Rich, colorful, full of energy. Love it:).
No it’s not Hisaishi. It’s a lesser known composer. I called him a genius once.
Try again. ๐
All your clues point to Sahashi – except a) it doesn’t sound a thing like him, and b) you’ve never used the word "genius" – you’ve said he was your favourite Eastern composer, but you’ve never called him a genius.
The two composers to whom you have referred as a "genius" are Kousuke Yamashita and Chris Field. This obviously isn’t Field because you suggested this was Asian (and it sounds Asian) and it doesn’t sound like Yamashita either.
I’ve read every single post you’ve ever made here trying to figure this one out and listened to the cue repeatedly for an hour…
ANOTHER CLUE PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!
Edit: The "characterstic" part at 2:34 you mentioned makes me think of Hisaishi! Which it isn’t!
You’re sooooooo close…
No sorry, you’ve won: it’s Yamashita. BRAVO!!
edit: I guess I don’t have any reason to be mad then… for now.
Just to keep up the suspense and arouse the excitement I won’t reveal its name until the uploading… ๐
This compoer is really good.
Dragonaut the resonance is superb.
You’re going to make me wait for DAYS more…?
*moans*
Right now I’m preparing a (great) choral orchestral pack for the orchestral thread.
This.
The bigger the hype, the higher the expectations.

Seriously, nice guess. =-O
the 2:34 part with its use of chimes is used several times in his scores, and for who is addicted to his music it’s immediately recognizable.

You’ve missed one already posted in this forum :
Phenomenal is an accurate word.
edit: mmh.. it’s a bit exaggerated, some tracks are excellent, others are just ok.
Now of course you’ve guessed what will be the question : where does this come from ?
For me – at about one minute – it sounds a bit like Superman Theme by John Williams. So if it sounds like Williams than I will say that it can be Hisaishi;). Anyway, whatever it is, I’m waiting for whole thing because this theme is just great – perfect orchestral writing imo:). Rich, colorful, full of energy. Love it:).
It came up in my playlist again and yeah, after repeat listens the Superman influences are obvious. The first minute or so actually seems to be a mixture of Elfman’s Batman theme and the Leaving Home theme from Superman.
It’s almost as bad as this: http://www.sendspace.com/file/lsn5ep
Hahaha, I can’t believe it. Incredible xD. I think there is a name for this kind of writing – plagiarism;). Yamashita’s track is obviously inspired by Superman Theme, but still different. Can’t say that thing about Streich dicovery;).
… OR the satisfaction.
Seriously it’s one of the best orchestral game score I’ve heard, if not the best.
Of course it’s my opinion, and you have the right to have yours. But I fgind it rather unfair to evoque ONLY disappointment not having listened to the whole score. I suppose it’s tongue in cheek, as suggests the winking smiley.
I was just continuing on Streich’s thought and musing about the fact that the more hyped something is, and thus the greater your expectations become, the less likely you are to be satisfied.
Just to clarify – usual plagiarism accusations aside – I think this is superb, and I cannot express how excited I am at the prospect of hearing the rest.
Streich: RE that Sahashi track, what score is that from? Is it one of the Ultraman movies, by any chance? Gaia?
As far as the track goes, well, it gets away with it quite nicely, as simply a piece inspired by Superman, until 1:11, at which point, you just have to hold your head in your hands and mutter disapprovingly to yourself, "Oh, my God…"
Look in the tags.
Here’s the answer :):
Enjoy!
@ arthierr: Thanks for this wonderful score!!! One question though: does anyone have this score in a better quality? 192 kbps or up? Would be very much appreciated!!!
Thanks again. ๐
oups, sorry.
It’s work perfectly on VLC media, but not on wmp, maybe its just my codec.
Sorry to waste you’re time……….
You were right, tracks 18,19 and 20 are corrupt. These tracks are hosted like that on the official website. Still no problem to listen to with a proper player.
does anyone here speak korean…? If Yes, it would be very much appreciated if someone could translate that tracklist. I am sure that there are a few guys like me who would be very grateful. Also, does anyone have this score in a better quality (192 kbps or up)?
Thanx for any help!!!
Tracklist can be found here:
As far as the track listing goes, I don’t speak Korean, but here’s a brave attempt – Google Translate sometimes does an all-right job and I have edited its output to make a little more sense. Inevitably this involves a certain amount of interpretation, but for the time being, it’s better than absolutely nothing…
1. Main Theme (03:13)
2. General Field (02:41)
3. Impe is a theme (03:00)
4. Demi Plains 1 (02:28)
5. Battle Theme (02:40)
6. Large-Scale Battle (03:12)
7. Boss Theme 1 (01:32)
8. Succession (01:16)
9. Loser (02:27)
10. Desert (02:42)
11. Urgency (02:25)
12. Demi Plains 2 (02:43)
13. General Field 2 (02:30)
14. Hero (01:44)
15. Village Theme 2 (02:13)
16. Gyeongkwae (02:53)
17. Demi Plains 3 (02:31)
18. Boss Theme 2 (02:30)
19. General Field 3 (02:01)
20. Video (01:47)
21. Waltz (02:44)
Now, before anybody says anything: I have no idea what a "Gyeongkwae" is – Google translator has no idea what they are either, so I’ve left it alone. This isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s better than absoutely nothing, and maybe having something to start on will encourage a Korean speaker to help fix the errors…
Note that track 21 originally romanised as "Wolcheu" – which appears to have no meaning. I’m going to go out on a limb and re-title the track "Waltz" since that’s what it is… Maybe Wolcheu is a (terrible) attempt to Koreanise the word "Waltz". Anyway – it’s a Waltz, so who cares? ๐
Cheers ๐
D
I often end up using them just so I have *some* vague reference as to what I’m listening to.
I have a friend who can translate the Japanese (moved to London from Tokyo) but the only Korean I know appears to hate my guts… so I don’t suppose I can do any better than this. ๐
[Edit: Actually, I know two Koreans – and they *both* hate my guts… Hmm…]
Thanx man!! Much appreciated!!!!
Oh thank you very much for this, arthierr and streichorchester *hug*
