It appears the remake of Chain of Memories for the PS2 is coming this December to the US. This is pretty cool considering I wanted to play this, but was not going to get a handheld to do so.

Now if they would only release KHII Final Mix…
I also wonder why they didn’t make this available on PSN instead of buying an actual PS2 disc.
Certainly think it helps make sense of the mess of an intro that II has.

That’s what I’m looking forward to. That into didn’t make any sense to me until I actually read up on it on the net.
But I think I will get it.

If you want Final Mix, mod your PS2. The game is English with Jap subtitles.
They would not release it on PSN because there are more PS2 owners than PS3 owners.

Ah, you make an excellent point about more people owning the PS2 than PS3. Good call.
Do you know if all the dialogue (including the non-speaking cut scenes) are in English as well? I saw some video on Youtube where someone played KHII Final Mix on their PS3… I think they ran some program on their PS3 to play the game… which was tempting to try, but I’m not totally sure I want to do it though. In case I did want to mod my PS2, how would I go about doing so?
Exactly my reasons why I’ve been hesitant to do such a thing. 😉
certain action replays include a freeloader, which enables you to play games of any region on your ps2, without the need to mod your ps2.
a warning: get a new memory card for use with foreign games, because the freeloader will format ti to the game’s region (ie, if you play PAL games, the card will be formated to PAL)
Here’s some games I have on one memory card:
Initial D: Special Stage (Japanese only game)
The Sword of Etheria (a PAL game)
OZ (Japanese)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PAL)
Tekken 5 (PAL)
Silent Hill 4 (US)
Gran Turismo 4 (US)
And they all work like a charm.
I’m kinda glad I didn’t get my hopes up (because of rumors floating around talking it being released because of that 382/2 Days game coming out that they have all the VA for the Org. members). But now I realized I spent all that time putting in some English menu stuff on my Japanese ReCoM was for naught!
Either way, I’m buying it :D.
the manual of my AR explicitly, in bold letters, warn me that the MC will be formatted.
but well, like i said, there are many versions of AR, some with FL, some not.
while i enjoyed KH in GBA more than any other GBA game i own or have played, im definetely getting this.
i do not know anything about this remake other than it is a remake of the GBA version.
i intetionally avoided all information about it because it gave heartache to see it was JP exclusive (same with every JP exclusive games), but now that its getting ported, i will still avoid knowing about it, i want that even the press start screen amazes me.
but i still prefer the AR, because it has other functionalities.
like (back then when DVD players were more expensive than a ps2, and regionnlocked) it includes a tool that eliminates the region lock of your ps2 so you can see movies from any place on the earth.
They also should import Final Mix. Seriously.

Fucking agree. I mean, the voices are still in English. What’s the deal, Japan?!
