I’m already planning on my second playthrough and I just got to the GNR building for the first time. O:
I haven’t gotten a chance to use the Fatman yet but I’ve got one waiting in my house for when I need it. I feel like I stockpile wayyyy too much stuff wayyy too easily though, maybe I shouldn’t have taken the Scrounger perk. I’m finding Normal also ridiculously easy most of the time so I’m gonna bump up the difficulty next time I play.
It’s so good all in all, though.
I talked my way out of doing the radio signal mission for three dog and he told me where my dad was.
I finished Dead Space in four days, because I knew that this had the potential to be a life drainer.
Sure enough, i’ve spent my entire weekend playing it…and i’ve only been doing side quests. God damn you Bethesda.
This might actually stop me from getting Wrath of the Lich King…
I know. COD5, Motorstorm 2, Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 all look good but there’s no way I can get them all ๐
I talked my way out of doing the radio signal mission for three dog and he told me where my dad was.
Man I had a 50% chance to do that. Normally if a speech option comes up I exit the conversation, put on a +10 speech armor I have, and quicksave and try until I succeed but I didn’t care enough that time. Oh well, I’m enjoying exploring the metro system on my way and getting all these locations explored for quick travel later.
I don’t think it’s worth it. The people of Megaton constantly bring me stimpacks or nuka colas whenever I’m there, and there are other rewards that are very worthwhile especially if you disarm the bomb early. However, if you hate Moira (especially after doing ALL of her quest) and are shooting for an evil character and want to wait to have your own room with a locker and bed (you get one either way, albeit in different places) until after you do all the quests there, then go for it.
I find it kind of annoying that i’m already level 11 out of 20 and I am just heading to the Science Museum for 3dawg and have barely explored an eigth of the world. D;

I agree the game is pretty easy. Especially compared to the first two games, where you could get fucked over hard even after level 20, wearing the best armor in the game, by a critical hit.
My character is non combat focused and I have managed to fight my way through several situations simply by taking cover jumping out and using VATS, and repeating. Basically all you need to win in combat is good small guns skill and plenty of ammo.
For me, the ammo is the most difficult thing about the game, in fact. In the first two games I almost never ran out of ammo, and I would always just use whatever was the best gun I’d found so far and sell off all my other guns and the ammo for them. In this game I started playing that way but quickly discovered that I need to keep one of every gun I find with me and all the ammo for them. Ammo is the thing I am most eager to find when opening random boxes and desks. I think this is one thing they really really got right about this game–everything feels like more of a commodity.
Another thing I like that they changed: getting a perk every level. This is so completely awesome, why the hell did it take until the third game in the series for someone to think of this?! Taking perks was always one of the most fun things about Fallout so why not just let me do it more often? Also, every time I play Fallout 1 and 2, I always feel like I have to take all three levels of Educated as soon as they come up, so I’m glad there’s just one flat level of it here and that’s it.
I’m at about the same place you are Wattson, but am not such a high level. I’m sure it’s going to take a ridiculously long time to level up as you get farther though so it should balance itself out. You must have gone all out on the quests beforehand. I completed a few of them but am saving some for later. I tend to take the "role playing" as seriously as I’m able when I’m playing a Fallout game, so I try to prioritize the way I think I really would. I did the quest where I found the kid’s dad and stuff, because a kid ran out at me and needed help right away, but I didn’t go finish off the ants yet because I was too fixated on finding dad and chewing him the fuck out for ruining my life.
I am about to go play some more. I am going to be a fucking WRECK for work in the morning, and I don’t give a shit.
Oh also: No fatman for my character, I’m not even strong enough to wield the thing. I am a brainy manipulative girl who compulsively hacks every computer she sees, steals shit, and doesn’t like anybody, but still has a strong moral compass. This is pretty much the character I always make during my first playthrough of any RPG. She’ll go out of her way to help some kid find his dad, but she also killed the overseer and then asked his daughter to come with her outside the vault like it was nothing.
That douche totally had it coming. Although I actually hated him less than the overseer from Fallout 1.
Now that I’ve switched to playing on hard I’m actually finding my stockpile of ammo depleting alarmingly. I got a sweeeeeeet gun from the Museum of History but it’s starting to get ill repaired (so I’m racing to raise my Repair skill to 100 so I can keep things in max condition for max damage), but it uses .44 ammo and that stuff is rare. I’m down to only like 40-50 left… I had 150 or so before. My assault rifle ammo is down from ~1200+ to 600 now also. Makes me feel uneasy. But thanks to Scrounger I am not too worried.
I think I’m level 14 now and still haven’t finished doing the errand for Three Dog, but I had a blast helping some mercenaries escape from a hotel so it’s all good. At the start I had gone west to deliver Lucy West’s message and had done some work for Moira and I ended up helping a town rescue some folk and work out a deal between another town and a group of… interesting… raiders, as well as explore a pretty trippy dungeony area and I found myself a Dog companion who I sadly lost to the fire ants. :'( Being intentionally vague to avoid spoilers though. Oh yeah, after the fire ants I went to a weird sewer grate that led me to a Comic Book factory that was pretty neat but didn’t have much in it, and I spent a long time messing around in the subway popping up and around DC.
I want to start hunting down Bobbleheads, since I’ve got maybe 5 total so far? Also I want to get more unique weapons and stuff since they are pretty neat.
My character’s SPECIAL starting out was 4/4/5/5/5/7/10, and I like having all that luck, but I wish I had had more strength. I also wish I knew Repair, Lockpicking, and Science would be so crucial throughout the game at the start. I think my tagged skills were Sneak, Small Guns, and Energy Weapons. D: Playing mainly just how I would go through these situations, which is completley "good" most of the time.
Next playthrough I’m going to be a more neautral possibly evil character who focuses on Unarmed combat. Should be fun.
The quest for 3dog takes FOREVER. I’ve basically done the same thing, just fuck around in the tunnels and pop up in random spots. I’ve popped off a few super mutants for XP but I can’t really engage them much because I have to rely on criticals, so it’s been rough going trying to find a way to that damn museum. I’m loving every second of it. I got the ranger transmission but haven’t found either museum yet.
I ended up having to go back to Megaton for supplies, so while I was at it I completed a couple extra quests for xp too. Was debating finding that girl’s brother, but he’s gonna have to wait until after I get the stupid dish.
…and yes, I have been playing all night. O_o
Taking all that luck is an interesting strategy. You get tons of criticals that way, right? Given how powerful they are in this game that might actually just be the best combat strategy. 10 luck with a high small guns skill could destroy practically anything. :O I usually go with 4 luck because I can never get enough points for the skills I want the most.
I think it’ll be hard for me to play a character without a tonnnn of criticals after this one. I definitley need more small guns skill (only around 50 now I think, been too busy with Lockpicking and Repair) but with my Chinese Assault Rifle doing ~40 damage, Combat Shotgun I think 45, and a few other good guns I seem to tear through super mutants when my stuff is fully repaired.
I definitley recommend doing the Ranger quest ASAP, the reward for it is awesome. I took a detour last night to check out a town that’s directly south of Vault 101 (quite a bit ways south). It’s so far probably my favorite little place in the game. It’s a very short sidequest and I recommend checking it out, although I got some bad karma for doing what I thought was the right thing.
I guess if you go 3 days getting little to no sleep because you’re staying up playing Fallout 3 it starts to get to you.
Goodnight, wasteland… I’ll be back soon.
only for women, thank god.
I just left Vault 101 and did some exploring. However, I had to stop playing. Not because the game is bad, but quite the opposite. The moment I saw the wasteland world, I knew this is going to be a deep immersive experience, I have to dedicate a good deal of time to.
I’m still replaying RE4, not to mention I’m getting Dead Space soon. So, I’m putting off on Fallout 3, until I finish Dead Space first at least.
But yes, it’s a good game that makes feel like you’re really in a post-apocalyptic world. The game is a mix between Oblivion and Bioshock. If you liked either one of those games, then I recommend playing it.
I bought my copy for PC and have had to put my game on hold for a bit thanks to some buggy times in the wasteland. I will show you fear in a handful of dust if you don’t patch my game Bethesda. *shakes fist*
But no, really, it’s awesome and I can’t wait to get back into it.
Edit: Actually, I just read something that said they’d be releasing a patch this week so yay.
But anyway I did get that dish to threedog and I acted like a right bitch to him afterwards as well because WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ANYWAY, WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST TELL ME WHERE DAD IS IN THE FIRST PLACE. GOSH.
Gonna get a few other odds and ends sorted out before heading to rivet city, I imagine that will be quite a treck.
To find Reilly?
Assuming you’ve gotten the emergency broadcast signal, she’s in the Undercity (which is in the Museum of History, about 2 seconds away from the Washington Monument).
Reilly’s exact location is:
in the doctor’s office on a bed
Also, a very minor spoiler about Reilly:
She’s female :3
Did you find Lincoln’s Repeater while you were in the Museum’s lower floors, by the way? If you didn’t I highly recommend going back for it.
Will most more on this laterrr
Put a few hours in tonight… Great stuff. My character exudes strength and charisma and I took a few perks to affect conversational skills. The funniest of which is "Child At Heart" though I haven’t found many kids besides Maggie and Paul in Megaton. She gave up the goods on her dad’s stash, but I’d feel too sleazy actually stealing from them. Perhaps next game. :naughty:
I’ve only just started the main leg of the quest after hitting level 10 just meandering around the wastes. So far I’m asked to find Galaxy radio, but I’m having a bit more fun knocking out the random sidequests…
"Blood Ties"
God, what a long, odd quest. It took me FOREVER to find their base as Evan only says it’s somewhere east or northeast. Way to go, old man. And some kind of vampire cult? How randomly weird. Proud to say I didn’t kill a single person which is something since all the traps set up by the Family led me to believe hostilities would ensue on first sight. But doing it without unnecessary kills gave me that warm fuzzy feeling… And I received a schematic as well. Sweet.
I also really appreciate the perks of completing some quests.
Moira’s research quests! Only did two but they are so worth it. Though I wonder just how useful regeneration can be when I have to be so highly irradiated to access it.
Regardless, rewards are so much better when they can’t be measured in bottlecaps.
Unless of course they are Behemoths. Shit took me by surprise.
That android side-quest is very interesting. I want to find him, but I feel like I’ll get bad karma for it.
Later in the game ammo is not a problem. Especially if you take a tour of the west side of the wasteland.
i also ran out of ammo a lot of times, is getting easier to get laser and plasma ammo
i love this game
there is just a lack of quests…. or maybe is because most of them have a lot of ways to end
SPOILERS!!!
I just confused the big computer and blowed up himself lol
and now i got my own mutant and my dog to travel with me
Unless of course they are Behemoths. Shit took me by surprise.

i ended that quest without finding him
i also wanted to see him…. maybe if i pay a visit to the institute where that old man is hiding
I did get the item you refer to though, and yes, it is quite spectacular. I love how it starts off in perfect condition. I’ve only used it a couple of times because I’m trying to keep it in good shape for the few times I really need the extra firepower.
Did anybody find
vault 106 yet? That shit is FUCKED UP. I’ve explored the whole thing and while I think I can basically tell what happened there, I’m not sure if there is anything to do other than discover that, get really wierded out, and leave. Well, and get a good set of recon armor. It might have to do with a quest I haven’t received yet, I suppose.

My friend warned me about that place, but I totally forgot to ask. Where the heck is it, sir?
@Wattson: I almost forgot about that place. I was going to go in there, but I had enough of underground travel/ghoulies by that point, lol. Guess I’ll have to go back there.
One whom makes decisions mainly on the good side.
Another who makes the most evil/profitable decisions.
Needless to say, the evil one is easier and more fun. Being good really kills your supplies and shit.

Yeah man, in that place there’s…
A bobblehead for medicine (I think it’s medicine…). Possibly a skill book or two as well? Could be wrong on that, but I don’t remember where I find those. Also there were a couple safes or things that required more lockpicking skill than I had when I first went through there but I have no idea if they had anything good.
There’s lots of places around that reward you with just a skill book or two for exploring the whole thing, and sometimes bobbleheads and unique items or just good items. A few I’ve been pretty dissapointed by, the most notable being Hubris Comics an absolutley huge place that only had like one skill book in it, although it did have a cool minigame, but most places are at the very least interesting.
I didn’t find the Fatman until after the freaking fight. Go me. :/
But exhilarating all the same. Took him down with a spare missile launcher after god knows how many shots from the combat shotgun.
Of course, after he tasked me with visiting the museum, I promptly decided to head to Grayditch as I’d had an outstanding quest there. It was so difficult at earlier levels I had to let it marinate a bit before I finally came back.
Fire ants are fucking tough. The soldier ants especially… I rarely got off a good crit head shot, even sneaking. Otherwise it’s just a test of wasted ammo.
Do these ants have any weakness at all?
Anyway, the last leg of the quest has me hiking up to Rivet City. The journey was dangerous, but fun… Took me near 40 minutes fights and all with raiders and assorted super mutants. There’s something uniquely satisfying about crossing a battleground to the last bastion of civilization…even if it’s not really the ‘last’. The city itself though is kind of annoying. It’s based in a ship so all the areas are sectioned off, unlike Megaton. Oh well, it beats the wastes for now.
I’ve also put my good character on hold. Being evil is just more fun and profitable. Plus, it was a blast, no pun intended, destroying Megaton. Those people are fucking annoying, but what the shit? The stupid survival guide bitch survived! ;-; I should kill her. Also, I led ghouls into Tenpenny tower. Haha! I have loyalty to no one!
Well…
The kid mentions that his father says "shoot for the antennae" which stuns the ants and can be useful. I just used my combat shotgun in good repair to the head. They were tough, but not too bad except for the fact that they killed my dog.
Also, I started my fist user after watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaMT9woen2k , but haven’t gotten very far yet. Not sure if I’m going to continue or switch back to my first one…
You can go through quite a bit of ammo this way but if you keep your weapons in good repair and aim for the head, you should be ok. If you can’t keep your weapons in good repair you’re well and truly fucked, but really, in this game, repair is a VERY important skill and if you intend to be using guns at all you should be buffing it up. Overall I’d say that repair and small guns are by far the two most important skills in this game. If you can’t keep your weapons in good condition, come back to the quest later because you need to be able to.
I forgot if I had a shotgun at that time…but if I did…I probably didn’t have a lot of ammo for it anyway.
That was a tough mission.
fire ants mainly because i did that quest when i barely had ammo and caps…

Ahhh, that makes sense as to why explosives stunned them. Didn’t know that bit. Will have to try it on my evil game. I ended up using up all my mines since the ants approach you so slowly. Slow process, unfortunately.
TK, that’s the way I’d done it and thought I was doing it wrong because of the bullet cost. I’ve also been using the VATS hint you gave which really helps, especially in the wasteland expanse. Sneaking previously served in that regard even though I’m no good at it, just because it tells you when you’ve aggroed something nasty. While my repair is decent, (a lesson learned from carrying tons of broken equipment ala Oblivion) I’ve been wondering (perhaps inanely) which skill affects the hunting rifle? It’s my most used weapon.
Anyway, I’m far off the beaten trail again in some settlement called Girdershade, home of the Nuka Cola Fan Club, to continue a ‘quest’ from Marigold Station.
It was while exploring Marigold during the fire ant fiasco. Naughty Nightwear anyone? Grady left a message indicating I should head to Girdershade, but I haven’t found anything to continue this so far unofficial quest.
Anyway, the club president sent me on a quest to hunt for Nuka Quantum along with a few interesting historic facts about the product.
Has anyone found the Nuka Cola factory yet?
EDIT: Nevermind… found it. Didn’t see it on my map there.
I’ve actually abandoned the hunting rifle by now because shotgun and assault rifle ammo has become plentiful. It just doesn’t cut it anymore. Now I just pull them off super mutants, repair them to make a really nice one and sell it.
You haven’t seen the Experimental MRIV, its the Fat Man Unique Weapon, it fire 8 Mini Nukes in same time ๐ found it, but forgot where.
Oh wait…someone did. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf8Ae-kafF0)
Screw that noise, Dead Space is a sick game and worth a play through for sure.
Fallout 3, great game as well, Gears of War 2 came out though and I have to get back to Fallout once Ive had my fill of Gears
Dead Space is a good game, which has come out in a season surrounded by blockbusters.
It’s definitely worth playing, but do yourself a favour and wait until later when there aren’t a million AAA titles out.
I want Dead Space, too ๐ฎ
Exemple
Dunwixh Building: Horror
Vault 106: Suspense (With a bit of Horror)
Washington: Action
Washington Metro: Horror
I encourage you to try the game.
And here’s a fine pic of me in a T-51b Power armor and a Minigun, blasting ghouls in a Metro ^^
Confirm/Deny/Tell me I didn’t read this thread or TK’s original thread carefully enough.
Did I miss something there? Yeah it was horror story, homage to Lovecraft, but what the hell? All I got for it was this lousy bobblehead. When I finally made it to Jaime and the shrine, I thought maybe I’d be rewarded with a unique item at least. I know they couldn’t jump the shark with a Necronomicon, but geez, give me something. I was a bit disappointed.
I’ve heard talk of the PS3 version being super buggy. I’ve also heard that all versions are buggy.
Confirm/Deny/Tell me I didn’t read this thread or TK’s original thread carefully enough.
For my two cents, it’s a buggy game across the board. I’ve seen it screw up frame rate and/or freeze on console versions first hand. Not enough to be gamebreaking, but an occasional annoyance. The PC version, which I own, is worse I think. Although I’ve only come across one infamous glitch that totally breaks a sidequest. Game definitely needs a patch and the good people at Bethesda are working on one.
Oh, and Fallout 3 rocks too ๐
The current patch is PC only and mostly useless, which is why I didn’t mention. It fixes very few features…
* Fixed occasional crashes when exiting the game or using Alt F4 to exit.
* Fixed crashes when using Alt-Tab while binks or credits were playing.
* The game now restarts properly after title updates finish installing.
So, no Neg, no fixes have graced either 360/PS3 as far as I know. The patch on which Bethesda are currently working will actually address gameplay issues and on all consoles.
Confirm/Deny/Tell me I didn’t read this thread or TK’s original thread carefully enough.
My original thread wouldn’t have helped with this, it was all about hardware.
The game is horribly, horribly buggy on the PC. I have had no real problems with the Xbox 360 version though, which is what I’ve been playing. I’ve had it freeze once after a very very extended playing session, and it didn’t really matter because the game autosaves very frequently. I can’t really imagine why the PS3 version would be any different, but if you’ve heard about it from PS3 owners I’d get more info from them.
This is why PC gaming is going the way of the dinosaur.
This is why PC gaming is going the way of the dinosaur.
O_o
You’ve had more problems with the 360 version than I have on the PC, apparently. Game’s run flawlessly so far, plus I get access to mods and console commands…
The reason PC gaming is dieing is piracy, not bugs.
This whole PC games are dying stuff, is not different than saying, Y2K is coming, or the African Killer Bees will invade and kill everybody.
Myth = Something that is accepted as true, but isn’t.
PC gaming is far from dead. Yes it suffers from Piracy, but so do a lot of other mediums, and there still racking in the cash. PC Games are no different.

I don’t think it’s close to death at all, but I think it’s easy to see the trend with developers such as Epic refusing to release PC games anymore due to the issue and the recent news that 90% of people who "have" World of Goo pirated it, plus all the DRM shit EA’s been pulling, and not to mention the fact that multiplatform releases are more and more often delaying the PC version… the trend is clearly there.
As long as there are developers like Valve who respect and understand why it’s such a great platform, routinely release amazing games, and use a system like Steam where it’s easy to buy and you have incentive NOT to pirate, PC gaming will stay around. I will not be surprised if, in a few years, the vast majority of PC titles are mainly multiplayer, though.
So I’ve been told. Pretty easy to sell me on that specific rhetoric ๐
The patch on which Bethesda are currently working will actually address gameplay issues and on all consoles.
Should be available by the time I actually get a PS3, I’d imagine ๐
I can’t really imagine why the PS3 version would be any different, but if you’ve heard about it from PS3 owners I’d get more info from them.
I remember you saying the PS3 version was inferior for some reason you couldn’t put your finger on in the original thread, or it might have been in chat. Either way, we’ll see what happens when the patch is available and I have a PS3.
For me, that’s more so the greed of the big developers, especially EA. Plus PC versions of Multi-platform games have always been either released at the same time as consoles, or last to be released. That’s goes way before the whole PC Piracy thing started. However, I do feel bad for the small developers who get crushed because of piracy. However, that not much different than a small record label, getting crushed under a big label. It’s one of the dark sides of the business world.

I personally think in the end, Valve will be behind all the PC game releases. EA just jumped on board not too long ago.
So in about 30 minutes, I’ll be starting my game. I don’t know yet what kind of character I’ll create. I hope not everyone here has completed the game, cause I’m sure I could have fun discussing it with many of you. ^^
I’ve HEARD that the PS3 version is inferior for one reason or another, but I don’t know why that is said. I didn’t get the impression it had to do with bugginess, though.
O_o
You’ve had more problems with the 360 version than I have on the PC, apparently. Game’s run flawlessly so far, plus I get access to mods and console commands…
The reason PC gaming is dieing is piracy, not bugs.
Piracy has to do with it, but that exists on consoles too. There is less and less reason to play anything on a PC now though. I think it’s a combination of a lot of factors, I didn’t mean that was all there was to it. It’s definitely a big issue though. Why buy a game for PC and worry about compatibility and updating your system when you could just get the console version which you know will work?
And I know a lot of people are having no problems with the PC version, but seriously, go take a look at technical problems forum on Bethesda’s official site for the game. It’s an endless sea of the same complaint threads over and over again.
No major glitch, and certainly no game breaking ones.
As for the PS3 version of Fallout 3, there isn’t any more bugs on it than the other versions. The PS3 only suffers on the graphical side of things. The draw distance isn’t as far, the textures are muddier, the frame rate drops more than on the 360…
As far as it goes, most people agree to say that the definitive version is the PC one.
But like you just said TK, not everyone (like me, and you it would seem) have the budget to buy the hardware necessary to run such a game as it was intended to.
Having the PS3 AND the 360, I usually look at the reviews and version comparisons of multi-platform games and choose the best of them. In that case, the 360 won.
On bugs, I’ve just encountered another in the Republic of Dave which won’t allow me to finish the darn quest there and Arefu which turns the entire settlement hostile against me. Both already documented on that bug wiki I mentioned earlier. *crosses fingers for patch soon*
It is the exact opposite. The Fallout series is especially known for being nonlinear, and in fact was one of the first games to be nonlinear to the extent that it was. Fallout 3 has kept that element quite intact. You can literally go anywhere in the game world as soon or late as you want to.
and I’m not particularly a fan of the game’s main attacking engine which seemingly lets you damage enemies a lot without requiring a great deal of skill as far as aiming/timing is concerned.
It’s mixing turn-based RPG combat, which is what the past Fallout games used entirely, with first person combat. Frankly I’d rather it was just a straight up turn-based system like the older games but I think VATS is a very nice compromise. If you don’t like it, it’s possible to play the entire game just as though it were a first person shooter.
Wouldn’t recommend this without a mouse/keyboard though.
Also, I guess I’ll give it a go later, assuming the Xbox isn’t being used by one of my other housemates. I’ve just finished working on an essay so I’ve pretty much got the whole day off, just need to hand it in.
Incidentally, I got the ‘linear’ impression from the fact that whenever my friends are playing it, they always seem to be doing some mission rather than just toodling around, which led me to believe it wasn’t much of a ‘do stuff at your lesiure kind of game’. Obviously, I’m wrong.
Seriously, I had to go to Megaton, the "first" little town in the game, and I just got "lost" in the many other locations there are available from the start (up till the point I realized I was running out of ammo and meds).
I played and enjoyed the first 2 titles, but the first person view really helps the immersion. That game is addictive, I tell you that, even if I was (and still am to some extent) a bit overwhelmed due to all the little things you can do and the huge world that is available to you at all time.
You get missions all the time, but you don’t have to complete 95% of them, and can do them in any order you wish.
Also, almost every time I do a mission, I discover some really interesting new location in the process and get sucked into exploring that which gives me MORE missions.
Basically, I was able to access a [Speech: 100%] option. Well, you know you gain XP from those, yeah? I was able to do this indefinitely and gained a "free" level from it. I could have theoretically maxed myself out, but I have neither the patience nor the urge to cheapen the game that much.
Anyone else come across this?
Man, I’ve watched way too many videos o_O
THANKS A LOT…
l33t, b1tch3s~
I know I’m like… a week late here but I’ve only just been able to play Fallout 3 the last couple days.
You didn’t happen to attack one of the vampires after you struck a deal between them and Arefu, did you? If so, Arefu being hostile towards you make sense since after the deal they belong to the same faction.
SOME SPOILERS HERE, BROS
Anyway so far my character has been good, having never received negative karma unless there was something really steal-worthy sitting in front of me. Well that’s not true, actually – I did kill Roy and his gang after I heard letting them into Tenpenny Tower resulted in Mr Herbert Daring Dashwood’s death, along with all the other tennants (I was mainly concerned about the former).
In the beginning, I mistakingly thought weapons such as (Chinese) Assault Rifles and Hunting Rifles were big weapons, so unfortunately one of my tag skills is Big Weapons ~_~. It’s not so bad, but I wish I could take it back and switch it to Small Weapons since I consider the big ones pretty useless, for the most part. Anyway, I’m around level 10 now I think and I’ve just had Threedog send me off to the Museum for the dish (sounds like a pain). Instead of bothering with any of that nonsense I’ve just been spending time doing side-quests, notably the Wasteland Survival Guidebook for neato perks and stuff. Oh and yeah, the fire ants were a pain – neat reward though.
That’s about it ! It’s a shame it took me so long to get around to playing it since now we can’t all talk about ๐
I don’t think so. I was pretty much a kitten in my dealings with everyone. I read a thread some time ago where a random barrel could fall on someone in Arefu and turn everyone hostile… Sounded ridiculous at the time, but I’m no programmer so maybe? *shrug*
I beat it once already, but I’ll wait for the patch before I give it another go as evil
Nice troll, guy.
Not really.

Sounds a bit far fetched but who knows.
I played a little more today – got into a fight with the Talon Mercs again. I dislike going up against a person with a rocket launcher, I really do. I’m not a great fan of shooting at somebody unless I have a 70% chance or higher of actually hitting them in VATS, so I had to get mighty close to this rocket launchin’ feller before I shot at him. Silly move, I guess ๐ฎ he made short work of me when I was at the foot of his little fort of wrecked cars. It reverted back to an auto-save made about 20 minutes ago since all I was doing was simple exploring of the wastelands; I didn’t bother reloading. ๐
NOTE: They have neat armor for a guy who can’t wear Power Armor just yet.
Actually I did that a lot cos the smart AI was supposed to have realized they could be caught in the explosion…except when they didn’t. :/

One time coming out of a subway to where I thought GNR was (I hadn’t quite figured out what all the doohickeys down the bottom on the radar meant so I just did my own thing) I was ambushed by some raiders. As soon as I walked up the stairs this girly started shooting rockets at me while others had their share with assault rifles and whatever else they had on them. I must have reloaded here at least 10 times; the rocket launcher chick would always kill me, even if I ran like the wind. So eventually I figured the only thing I could I do was just ignore all the assault rifle/10mm shots and just bum-rush this rowdy raider with a rocket. It worked, actually ๐ฎ but not because I was actually successful in killing her. I can’t quite explain it, but as she shot at me her rocket just spontaneously exploded in her face – which killed the guy beside her as well.
The only conclusion I can come to was that she had a really bad aim and shot the fence beside her (and completely out of the way) accidentally. Good times.
I’ve found the best strategy for rocket launchers is to stay behind a corner, pop out and fire once, and then back up. The corner usually protects you pretty well after you get your shot off.
I rarely have time to play and am getting itchy to finish the game. I’m just doing side quest after side quest though, it’s nuts how fucking huge this game is.
Bethesda is kinda known for making these huge worlds with too much to do.
Bethesda has announced that they plan on making a content editor and downloadable content for Fallout 3 available in the coming weeks. The official editor for Fallout 3, called the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit), will be available for free download in December and will allow PC users to create and add their own content to the game. In addition, the first official downloadable content, Operation: Anchorage, will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC in January, and more downloadable content coming in February and March.
The DLC:
* Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe ๏ฟฝ the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.
* The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.
* Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.
DLC sounds great, but I specifically bought the PC version for that sweet SDK lovin’. I welcome the GECK. However, I think some will notice the conspicuous absence of a certain console here in regards to DLC… No Sony love, Bethsoft?

It’s still pretty "nuts" regardless of how many games they have made that are also pretty nuts
The editor just makes me that much sadder that my PC can’t run this game. =(
Also, that DLC looks actually interesting for DLC. Well, damnit all…
Oh well, Rock Band 2 gets my monies instead.
That was until I got my hands on Ranger Battle Armour. I recommend anybody that uses Small Guns or just likes to sneak around gets this – it’s awesome.
That’s all.
im being a pretty awesome guy i have to say small guns + all speech and hacking and that which is fun. im really looking forward through the next playthrough where i can be a complete dickhead but i can never do that the first time playing for some reason =[
You really feel like you’re part of an post-apocalyptic world trying to survive. Even the inter action with people is kind of realistic, and the decisions you make effect the game in real time.
It seems to have taken Final Fantasy’s approach of saying, "yes, you can beat the game. But if you want to do it fully, or without frustrating difficulty, go to the shop and buy the guide."
*I’ll have to double post. The PS3 only allows a small amount of text.*
Don’t get me wrong. I can see why people like it. But playing this game is starting to feel more like work than fun. Before I decided to go and continue with the story, I was having fun. I began several side quests. Sold some equipment. And met some interesting people. The combat system I enjoy. And character interaction is the best i’ve seen in a video game.
But like I said, for the last 2 hours. It’s been annoying and tiresome. Maybe I’ll get the hang of it soon. I don’t want to give up on it. Because I know it’s got the potential to keep me hooked for ages. I’m just having a hard time seeing why at the moment..
ps you don’t need a guide. At all really.
Fawkes is the only good ally to have really
Ha ha, I blew the whole town back then…
And holyshit was it worth it! Sure there are many sidequests I cannot do anymore… That I’ll have to complete on a second playthrough, but whatever. The explosion alone was well worth it. Not everyday you’ll witness a nuclear explosion with your own eyes… ๏ฟฝ_๏ฟฝ
***psychotic voice… ๏ฟฝ_๏ฟฝ I like fireworks ๏ฟฝn๏ฟฝ
I got lost on my way to the Mall where I was sent by Three Dog (hopefully this doesn’t count as a spoiler e_e). I ended up all over the city, but I at least picked up some other locations I can fast travel to in the future.
I’m like level 15 now ๐ฎ still haven’t completed Three Dog’s quest.
I used my speech skill to just have him tell me where my Dad was headed. Took off to Rivet City which wasn’t as bad of a jog as I thought it was. Talked to Dr. Li and now I’m considering heading over to where the "old lab" is. EXCITING
This game is really eating up my time like crazy. Thank god I still have the better part of a month off for break.
I’ve still not found Three Dog! I mean to be fair, I have not really been looking. But the amount of time i have spent exploring should have given me some kind of result?!
It’s a pain in the arse having no money. Everytime I finish a battle with some raiders, I steal their stuff and go to craterside supplys and sell it all. And it’s not that profitable. But my stuff is in need of fixing up.
Sigh……I wish I were a Brotherhood Outcast
But yeah, I’m feeling better about the game than I was this morning. It’s all I’ve played today anyway.
I’d rather not go into the Metro tunnels to get through to Three Dog. But it seems like that’s the only option?
As far as money goes, I had a real issue with this at the start of the game. Especially because I needed to buy ammo for my energy weapons all the time. I’d go scope out a place, take some goodies, but the net profit (after taking into account repairs and ammo etc) was pretty low. Every now and then you come across a place that’s pretty awesome for money making items, or a "TURN X ITEM IN TO ME" repeatable quest. Stick some points in repair and keep an eye out for armor and weapons you use (so you can repair on the go.
I found Vault 92 and Nick says he’s got a quest to go there. I haven’t gotten the quest yet, but I’m not gonna ask him where just yet. I’m eager to get on with the main quest line, but I’m trying to pace myself. Part of me really wants to look up a couple hints in the game, but I’ve been pretty vigilant in not
Just about lvl 17. I need more microfussion cells. >:O
That Behemoth fight was fun. I just whipped out the Fat Man and blew his leg off! Reminded me of a few years ago when I was in Moria with some pals. We had a tough time with something similar….oh. Hi guys!
I’m feeling even better about the game now. I still maintain that it’s shit how they didn’t sort out some the glitchy landscape. And why did they neglect to give us a jump function? I’m still trying to understand that one..
But yes. It’s a great game. I’m glad I didn’t fuck it off when I felt like doing so.
Also, I now feel like I have the balls to take on The Family And by balls I mean better equipment and my trusty dog.
But yeah, some parts like that are irritating. You’re not sure if the pile of rubble is there as an in-game way to keep you from accessing an area from that direction, or if you’re actually able to somehow get over it and into the next area. I’m confident a child would have no problem crawling over some of the rubble you can’t get around ๐ฎ But I realize that for the sake of gaemplay, there needs to have some barriers in place like that.
And yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. It seems silly that the game makes it so you’re not allowed to climb certain parts. But if you strafe enough from side to side, and just keep swapping direction, you can actually get to places you’re obviously not supposed to. The rubble in DC being a prime example.
I should say though, that I recently read that Bethesda are in the process of getting a patch avaible for download?
**POTENTIAL SPOILERS**
When I went back around Chevy Chase to look for any equipment I had missed. I saw a Super Mutant lay on the ground. And his Hunting Rifle was just floating in mid-air. I left and came back. And it was still there.
When I left GNS out the back exit, I went through and out the otherside of the dupont ( i think it’s called dupont) station and fought some ghouls. Found a Blue Acess Card. What it’s for I don’t have a clue. But when I tried to move across over a bridge. Dogmeat started to follow and then ran into an invisible wall. I went back across and told him to follow, and he did. But as soon as i tried to get across again, the same thing happened. I think I’m supposed to go over there to get to the museum. But It wont let Dogmeat follow.
I went back into GNS and he started growling at nothing.
There are others. But i’ve ran out of space to type.
I’m guessing you’ve never used Charon.
One of the neater places in the game. Also some pretty funny scenes/dialog/characters there. The tree had me cracking up. Nick says he is a reference to an older Fallout, but I haven’t played older ones. (I’ve noticed other possible references as well, or at least I think they are just by the way the game talks about them).
Anyway if I had to live one place in the capital wasteland, it’d probably be the oasis, even if I had to turn into a hippie druid
Stop being so damned gungho about battles. The best strategy is to kill Dogmeat’s target as his health is refilled after each enemy he downs.
I ended up keeping Hancock for myself, just buying the new Tomb Raider for him…and I bought Dead Space. I imagine i’ll get back onto Fallout 3 soon. I’m just not sure when.
My PS3 is broke jftr lol.
WTF?!??!!?
is the collectors edition REALLY worth it? i mean, does it have something that you can actually be proud of having?.
i can easily fork the cash for it, but if i buy the regular edition i can buy another game.
If it’s worth it or not is really a matter of opinion. I got mine on half price though. It was on sale for one week only at Gamestation. So I say mine was worth it.
But I don’t know how much you’re looking at paying?
Also, if you go back a few pages in the latest purchase thread, there are some photos I uploaded when I bought mine. Just in case you want to look at what you would be getting..
So I knew the end of the main quest line was the end of the game, no questions asked, thanks to The Master being an asshole and spoiling the fact that you die at the end (I guess there might be other options? like telling them to fuck off or having Sentinel Lyons do it, I’ll have to see). So I knew advancing the main quest line was going to get me stuck in a torrent toward the ending and that I should get all of my exploring out of the way first.
Well I’d been level 20 for awhile. I haven’t explored a large fraction of the map, but I felt like I got enough quests out of the way that I could go ahead and try it. See, I want to play the game again with a new character, but I don’t want it to become overly stale — I don’t want to start a new game knowing exactly where to go, who has the good stuff, where to round up quests, etc. So I figured ending my first game after only completing a small portion might be worth doing. Like TK said, I do like to maintain a little bit of roleplaying in these games, and I can’t imagine my character not being furious at the Enclave for getting Dad killed. (Btw, I was devastated during that scene. I want Dad to be my real dad ๐ )
So the main quest line is actually pretty short. I’m certain I could’ve completed it at a far lower level. All I used throughout most of the game was Combat Armor/Helmet and a laser rifle (plasma rifles projectile speed is too slow and they only carry 12 shots per reload). The story was good overall. I panicked toward the end because I couldnt’ figure out what the activation code was ๐ lol. I realize since no one had told me outright, it had to be something I could figure out on my own, and sure enough. TBH, I’m quite certain I could’ve survived in that chamber for a good in-game hour or two. I had enough Rad Away and RadX to last me a lifetime, not to mention the radiation levels weren’t even THAT high. Imagine if I had a radiation suit.
Overall, I love the game. I’m disappointed the main quest line can be wrapped up so quickly. I mean, once you get the GECK, you’re kinda on track to finish the rest. I guess you could run around for awhile and do whatever else, but ti seems weird when they’re all like "HURRY UP WE GOTTA DO THIS NOW OR WE’RE DOOMED" to go and bring Nuka Cola Quantum to some dude so he can get laid ๐ฎ
Lucky enough for me, as I’ve mentioned before, I can go back, make a new character and start again. Having high Speech and being good has its benefits (I love getting praised by Three Dog on the radio, Dad, and the people of Megaton), but sometimes it’d be so nice to blow someone’s head off. Next character will probably be far more of an asshole. In terms of roleplaying, it’d probably make more sense to not be so sickeningly sweet, trusting, and forgiving.
Debating whether or not I want to see alternative endings for my character, or save them for another. Still depressed about Dad ๐
The game still has some pretty major flaws (combat is too easy, main quest goes from good to lackluster, NPC depth is lacking, scale is too small/condensed, character creation is seriously drawn out, etc), but I’d still give it a 7.5 out of 10. I took off a full point for not being able to kill kids, most of whom are exceptionally annoying and really need to die.
It’s certainly better than Oblivion.

i asked because i saw it that same day.
sure, the lunchbox looks cool, but no way in hell im using it for college.
i use a street fighter 2 backpack.
however, after a second thought, i looked at the prices (here in mexico) and the difference between the normal version and the LE is about 14 dollars, so il get the LE version
Sounds like a good idea to make a back up regardless of platform.
