If these are correctly tagged and seprated, then you’re doubly awesome.
Don’t worry, I’m not so lazy I won’t tag the songs myself if need-be; but of course if you did it beforehand, than it makes things easier. Which you have. So thanks. =D
Not hard, if you go into TSData\Res\Locale\(insert country name here)\Sound, it has extra sound files that are "activated" depending on your location.
For example:
The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSData\Res\Locale\Hungarian\Sound\Pop.pac kage
@Eriol: I will add those mirrors soon for you unless someone else is willing to do it for me. I deleted the .rar files before I even added them to my own soundtrack collection >< So I need to download them all again for myself and then I would mirror them to MediaFire.
For example:
The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSData\Res\Locale\Hungarian\Sound\Pop.pac kage
Wow–I thought I was good at this stuff, but now I feel like a complete idiot/n00b. ๐ Thanks for the help, though! ๐ I noticed you don’t have the Splash (Title Screen) or credits music in your rips. Do you know how to get them? I don’t want to give unnecessary instructions if you’re already aware.
Also, I see an odd category above, called "Special." I’m doing my own rip, so I only downloaded Nightlife out of curiosity, but I was curious what this category contains. Thank you again.

"Special" is actually called "Other" and is only found in the original The Sims 2 Soundtrack I’ve put up. It contains the special jingles that play when you character ages or a want is achieved. (Though I didn’t know which jingle played with certain ages so I named them completely different to what they used for.)
Can someone tell me which of those files belong to which age group?
The splash screen title music I did rip from the splash.package but the file wouldn’t play the music, so I removed it. And I’m not sure what the "credits" music is exactly. Can you explain more?

I’ll download the soundtrack in question to see if I can help out with the identifying. ๐
Within Splash.package, there are actually two pieces of music: the track that plays when reading the credits at the Options menu, and the title screen music. After extracting both tracks from the package, change their file extension to .XA instead of .mp3. Then, use Xantippe, a simple XA to WAV converter originally made for converting The Sims music years ago (found here (http://www.simprograms.com/downloads/programs/sims1/Xantippe.zip)) to decompress it to WAV. Use your favorite audio tool to convert both mono WAVs to stereo files of you preferred type (you NEED to make them stereo–they sound horrific otherwise) at the topmost quality possible, and there you go. ๐ This can be done for all the expansion packs’ Splash music (the credits tune is only included in the core game).
Hope that helped. Thanks for explaining the "Special" music, too. How did you procure those sound effects?
Coincidentally, I do have the Happy Holidays! Stuff pack, and I’ll check if it’s got any music for you.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. Be patient with Xantippe. It might take a minute or two when converting, depending on your CPU’s speed.

A: They’re in the Misc.package and they’re special sound effects/jingles.

Thanks for looking into the Happy Holidays! Stuff pack for me.
EDIT: It was successful, I will upload the missing splash screen tracks to the rips as seperate links then also to the main rips.

Ah! Good. I’m glad it worked. Also, Happy Holidays! Stuff didn’t have any music. Although, I was thinking about trying to get all the extra music from the musical items within the game (piano, guitar, anything else that makes a "musical" sound), and though that would be a HUGE undertaking, I might be willing to try soon. Anyway, there might be a musical item or two that’s included with HHS, but I’m not sure at the moment.
Oh, also: you might (before converting to mp3) want to loop the credits and/or title music at least once, and maybe even add fadeout. They end pretty abruptly otherwise.
One more thing: the Nightlife title music is just an edited version of Lemon Jelly’s Sim Time, just to let you know.
Yeah, I have done that and will continue to do that.
To find those sound files, you’d have to go into the Misc.package and convert all of them from .xa to .mp3 as majority of them won’t play normally. I might try that now and see what I can get from it.
I downloaded a torrent a LONG time ago (when I was still doing that :() of the Sims 2 Soundtrack, and it actually had the Splash music in mp3 form that sounded like it did in game, and cut off right at the loop point (meaning it wasn’t line-in). It actually sounded good. So there must be a way to cleanly convert these files. But…how?
EDIT: Actually, it’s not all of them that sound so bad–all of them except the core and Nightlife.
Please send me the info on how to do it.
Very well. First, extract the XAs masked as MP3s from the Splash.package as you normally would. Then, you’ll need two things as I mentioned above:
1) A hex editor, (http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~prewett/hexedit/)
2) Game Audio Player (http://www.fileplanet.com/164521/160000/fileinfo/Game-Audio-Player) (a relatively old freeware project that has been abandoned for some time now)
When you first start GAP, it’ll tell you it can’t find its plugins. Click Options in the UI, and point the two plugin paths (the last two tabs in Options) to their respective folders within the unzipped directory you downloaded and extracted from the link above. THIS STEP CANNOT BE SKIPPED.
Double-click the hexedit.exe (a wonderfully simple little hex editor–it’s limited in its scope, but we need it only for an infinitesimal step) and open the Splash.XA (or whatever you called it) you previously extracted from Splash.package.
For GAP to read it (and convert it into a WAV), you’ll need to edit the third bit in the file header, changing XA to XAI.
XA (hex 58 41 00) to XAI (hex 58 41 49).
Does that make sense? I don’t know how much experience with hex editing you have, so just let me know if this is too complicated.
Once this is done, start up GAP and scan either the file itself or the folder it’s contained in. It will find one <Unknown> file and use the PLAIN plugin to decode it. Convert it to WAV using the UI, and there you go–you have a perfect extraction.
Hope it goes well. ๐ This is to repay you for pointing out to me how to get the International music. That was a huge help; thank you very much.
If the latter, would the sound files be in Misc.package, one of the Sfx.packages, or in the Objects.package…?
Thanks for the tip, though! ๐

Nope it only plays Christmas songs, composed for the Sims 2 Happy Holidays Stuff Pack. It’s somewhere in the objectdata of the basegame. (It’s not in the Misc or Sfx packages as I recall, but can’t really remember exactly where cuz it was a long time ago, but I guess I’m 75% right.)
The Holiday Stuff Pack installs all it’s data in the basegame folder.

Wow. There’s a lot to search through. But thanks very much for the help, Visculmania–I’m aware of your Sims 2 gamerips from the past, and I’m grateful for your contributions. ๐
And yes, I’d thought Happy Holidays! installed itself in the basegame folder.
I looked through all the packages in the game, and I couldn’t find the special christmas songs. If they’re not in the misc.package or the sfx1.package or sfx2.package then they’d have to be in the voice packages.
EDIT: I’ve extracted all the splash files from The Sims 2 Games. However I don’t think Teen Style Stuff, Kitchen And Bath Interior Design Stuff ,IKEA Home Stuff or Mansion & Garden Stuff have their own individual splash music. If they do, it would be in the misc.package.

Voice? But what about Objects.package?
…and…forgive me, but I thought you didn’t have Happy Holiday Stuff?
Objects.package only has audio references, no .xa or .mp3 files. That’s why it would most likely be in the Misc.package and if not in there, then the sfx.packages.
EDIT: I found 5 songs in the Misc package I can add. Everything else seems to not work even after trying to fix them with the Hex Editor and playing them with GAP.

Ah! Very cool. And yes, Happy Holiday Stuff is installed directly inside the basegame. Also, HHS and the Holiday Party Pack are exactly the same–HHS just has a few more items to represent Asian and European holidays, which the HPP didn’t have.
Nope; they don’t. Besides, Splash.package is specifically encoded so the audio files within will be played at the splash screen–having them in Misc.package would make no sense.
Also, I opened up Misc.package in the basegame folder and could only find 2 (out of the 3,315 files) standard MP3s that I was able to make play. What was your method in finding the HHS music? I’m probably just missing a step.
EDIT: One more thing: out of curiosity, are you planning on ripping the Stories games (if you own them)? I already did–Life Stories has no original music, Pets Stories has plenty, and Castaway Stories reuses a lot of music from the original The Sims, just to let you know. :p ๐

I deleted all the .xml files that I got using SimPE, then I arranged them by size. I changed all the extensions to .xa using command prompt. Then I hex edited the last 5 songs, they were like 3MB – 5MB then I scanned them in GAP to see if they would work. Then converted them to 128kbps MP3 files and looped them ^^.
And no I am not doing any of Stories series as I do not have them. Feel free to go ahead Alphaleon.

Wow; very good. I am truly impressed. And thank you very much for this information. I got as far as deleting the thousands of XML files, then arranging them by size, and renaming them with a command line. Like I said, though, I found two that played without any modification–I didn’t exactly recognize them from the game, though (that is, I don’t know where they’re played in the game).
And I’d like to upload stuff, but I find it a largely thankless job and I don’t really have the extra funds to put into a [insert filesharing service here] account.
NONE of the links are working T_T
Thanks
Greatly appreciated x]
Thread 67950 – The Sims 3 Soundtrack.
UPDATE: That thread will be where I post all my future The Sims 3 rips.
Damn you EALayer3 codec. Making this more difficult than it should be >_<
Thanks again ๐
this is the BEST post i’ve ever seen (honestly!)
how old are you?

I am 19 right now.
And CyberSpark you are most welcome.
I had been looking for the Splash Screen music from "Open for Business" for the longest time, and now you have answered the call. Huge thanks dude!
Reuploaded to FlameUpload which mirrors them to several links.
And you’re welcome TenRyan.
aand i created a new thread for it also, the cover art is available here:

Thanks again ๐
I love The Sims Audio
I’ve released the PlayStation 2 versions of The Sims 2, The Sims 2: Castaway and The Sims 2: Pets
Enjoy ๐
ive been looking for the sims 2 ps2 soundtrack for awile now
Could you please re-upload the Sims 2 Soundtracks?
btw… Many thanks for that Collection! I downloaded it last year, but after a hard drive-crash about two months I lost all the Soundtracks I collected in the last 5 years…
Any updates?
I see.
What does that have to do with the Sims 2 soundtracks though?
Not to be rude ๐
Yes, but I was talking about "other Sim game rips."
I tried a couple of them, and downloads and files are ok, it’s just the links to the other threads that died, there you are : http://forums.ffshrine.org/search.php?searchid=7194044
I can’t download those files – they get stuck at 1% or 2% and downloading crashes, EXCEPT for part 2 and 5 which have been downloaded fully without any problem.
For example part 1 is stuck always at 4.5MB in all browsers.
Is it only me or are those files corrupted (on MEGA servers?)
I download from mega from time to time and never had such issues.
Sorry for raising alarm! ;(
