Also this is NOT a Final Fantasy title.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, some good, some awful.
Either way it looks to be a bit of a grind and let’s hope that it is better than what the critics say.

Its sorta like FF but is based on it.
I never knew this game was based on FF, just only created by the same company.
when I read three sentences of reviews I’d changed my mind.
The framrate and texture pop-in issues are VERY awful however when you look past these flaws (if you can) you will find a very solid and challenging tactical RPG.
The battle system is very interesting but I’m only around 4 hours into it….I must say that I like this more than Lost Odyssey.
As you are all probably aware, I have been playing this game NON STOP lately.
This is one of those sensational RPGs that are marred by a few glitchy technical bugs. But once you look past these minor flaws you will discover an RPG like no other…..and also with an amazing battle system that will have you looking forward to combat.
Okay I said technical flaws..yes….these include sometimes horrific framerates and bizarre texture pop in issues. Sometimes it gets a little hard to forgive but trust me on this, these flaws are definitely worth overlooking.
I won’t go into the story because it is very involved (hello Square Enix) but the combat is where this game really shines. You recruit leaders and units to form "unions" so each battle can consist of twelve party members (or more depending on how far in the story you get) You get commands you can give these unions and they act it out each whilst having random interactive triggers occuring to enable counterattacks and critical hits.
Take all of this and also the fact you can "raidlock" "deadlock" and "flank attack" enemies (along with other tactical combinations) and you have a battle system that is fucking awesome and makes nearly every battle seem like a full scale war.
Also CHARACTERS / UNITS DO NOT LEVEL UP. Characters grow in this game and DO become stronger however there are no level numbers or anything like that.
Anyway time for me to start work now but I can’t wait to get home and keep playing this….I’m stuck near the end of disc one so I have decided to abandon the main story to continue with side quests (there are several) and beef up a bit. These side quests are very fun and aren’t really all that mandatory.
The overall game should take anyone 60+ hours to complete. And the only thing stopping me from giving this game a perfect 10 is the minor technical flaws I mentioned before.
I give The Last Remnant 8.5 out of 10.
Much like Lost Odyssey was.
No way.
-The storyline was so slow and linear. I was never sucked in.
-The characters were boring and predictable.
-Half the game is spent watching loading screens.
-Fights were boring and uneventful.
-The villain is a clich.
-And WTF is with those kids? One minute they are hyper and running around, next they are depressed and crying. And they sound like the rugrats. They ruined the game for me. I was really hoping they would die in the Aurora part. Terrible, terrible characters.
I’ll grant you that the first scenes are incredibly cool, the graphics are great, and the thousand year dream stories are good, but it was still a pretty average game.
Thats because the voice acters WERE in rugrats. lol.
Half the game is spent watching loading screens.
I never had that problem when I played so it could be your system.
The villain is a clich.
Most games are. I will agree with you on that
The characters were boring and predictable.
I actually loved how connected the characters were to each other. Husband, Wife, grandson and daughter. Mother and son. And then 2 people who hook up. Good party dynamics if you ask me. It’s better than random people joining your party because they don’t have anything better to do.
But this not the right thread to be talking about this. I guess we could agree to disagree, start our own thread, or take it to PM. I vote for agree to disagree 😛
The Last Remnant was better, but Eternal Sonata was even better than that.
I read from a lot of sites that the Xbox360 version was bad because of the jumping frame rates, and the horrible save system. None of that is present in the PC version. The game runs at a constant 60 frames per second, and you can save any time you want. You can even turn on a auto-save feature that saves the game after every battle. It’s very useful, because the game is very hard, and most people didn’t finish it on the Xbox360 because of the bad save system.
The game also has a great soundtrack. One of the best from Square this gaming cycle.
ITS NOT A FINAL FANTASY, get it?
This is one of the games i plan on getting if it comes to PS3, which it should. Or has it already? I heard it was a tough game.
all seeing, you get a ps3/360 yet??
I never knew there was a PS3 release. I thought it was only 360 / PC
Edit: Ok I am finally installing this game onto my 360 to see if it helps with the bad framerate.
all seeing, you get a ps3/360 yet??
Nope. All the games I want to play, keep coming to the PC. I have the means to play them, so why waste the money on a faulty console that dies after 6 months or sooner?
Edit: I’m planning on a PS3, because of the Blu-Ray Player. I also think it’ll start to gain momentum this year or the next.
