Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Awesome news… New Silent Hill!

Ok, not "new" in that literal sense but a "re-imagining" of the first Silent Hill! Slated for Wii, PS2, and PSP this fall. 🙂

Some new and updated features…

Also new to Shattered Memories is a psyche profile element, which monitors every aspect of player�s reactions � from where they explore first, items that have been examined, and their reaction to those they meet. Small visual elements will also be altered slightly, adding to the oppressing atmosphere where nothing is what it seems. The psyche profile will adapt Harry�s actions as and when he meets normal-looking people or the game�s many inhuman denizens.

Yeah a few games are coming out for PS2. Not lots, but there are new releases spread across 2009 like a new Devil Summoner, Guitar Hero, Dynasty Warriors etc. Probably just trying to cash in on the deep penetration of the PS2 since it is the highest selling console ever. Also, Wii sux!!!11

I agree about the Wii comment, but I thought making this game a console exclusive would minimize the chances of having shitty graphics.

The only thing I don’t really want them to change is his appearance. That’s the only quirk I will have against this game is that.

I’m not sure if this SH is going to be a good idea… Even though I haven’t done a lot of research, to me it looks like they’re trying to change too much stuff on the first game. Like, I don’t know, an alternate universe? No, no, wait, that came out wrong, an alternate universe of a game based on alternate realms… Urgh, my head hurts…

I used to think that, but when I think of my "top games per system" the PS2 has way more.

Don’t get me wrong, nostalgia wise SNES will always win it was the gaming system that made me my gaming a sometimes ‘hobby’ because of the NES into someone who labeled himself a gamer.

But the library can’t stand up to the juggernaut that is the PS2 (IMO).

I still think the Dreamcast is still win!

Well, I looked up a few more articles and I dunno whether to be disappointed or what. When they said "re-imagine", I guess they meant "reinvent". The biggest difference being:

Another change, the rusty, hellish Otherworld has been changed into a frozen, icy one instead. As in Silent Hill: Homecoming, the transition to the Otherworld takes place in real time as buildings freeze over and columns rise out of the ground.

No combat?? Then that means no bosses or pulling "Tom Cruise’s" (that’s what I called it whenever Harry would pull out his Katana weapon :P) anymore. I really don’t know what to think anymore about this game. I am very intrigued though about how the new "Otherworld" will look now that everything will freeze. For some reason, I can’t get a picture of what an icy level on Kingdom Heart would look like when I try to see it from the SH perspective.

And yes, I too like Cybil’s redesign as well. Maybe she should just undo one more button…

I can’t imagine how the game will work without combat, guess we’ll have to wait and see but I hope it’s not a pick and click game. I like that screenshot, it doesn’t look bad for a Wii game.

I was reading that article, and the way it sounds for the Wii is really making me want to get one for this game. But I think I’ll just wait until my friend has it at his house, he has a Wii and I can see if it lives up to its expectations.
