You need a reliable source, otherwise your post is unverified.
This "Will Smith is the new Bond" crap is just that…crap!
aw hell naw
I liked him the most of all of them really, he seemed like a real Bond at that age, now the new one is, Daniel Craig, looks SOOOO old, it’s ridiculous, though perhaps more realistic, perhaps not.
The one thing that annoyed me with Pierce was that he did a lot of cigar smoking on and off the set, but even in some of the pictures, it was sponsored for him to be a (cigarette smoker for early bonds) cigar smoker as Bond apparently was… he’s not a role model for children in any way, not with all the vices he has (Women, Drinking, Smoking, and Gambling, just to name a few) but the studio sees it that way, and the kids and teenagers do as well, I know I did, ehh it’s not right in my eyes.
Craig has the same habits as Pierce (actors should smoke cigars apparently) and was outraged the studio wouldn’t let him smoke on set, as were the directors as they frequently stated "It’d be so much better with a cigar or cigarette".
I am very interested in your reasoning behind why we should have a black James Bond.
Please elaborate.
Please elaborate.
I guess there is no reason why Shaft cant be portrayed by a white actor too.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to be changing such a readily identifiable trait like that.
Please elaborate.
It’s not like I’ve put much thought into it to be able to give you a list of reasons, but I think that it makes perfect sense. The point that a white person could portray Shaft is kind of a crappy one, that isn’t what I’m saying, but with something like James Bond or Doctor Who where the character is in a continuous state of regeneration, I feel that the makers have real scope to be bold and progressive and a black Bond would be just that. The fact that there was the whole furore over Daniel Craig and James ‘Blonde’ when he was first announced in the role, all that nonsense, and now he’s generally accepted as having done an excellent job I think has set the scene for a black Bond. The change in hair colour, no matter how minor, is enough of a deviation from the stereotypical Bond that to rule out totally there ever being a black Bond is probably on some level racist- his hair is okay but skin, no way- especially if the best candidate isn’t white. The fact that the Daniel Craig films precede Dr. No but make no effort to hide that they’re set in the present is another point in favour of a black Bond who would be a more adequate reflection of modern Britain and make the whole thing look less like a BNP party conference.
I’m not saying that it’s necessary for Daniel Craig to be succeeded by Will Smith or Idris Elba or whoever, my ultimate preference would be the return of Roger Moore, but I just think Bond could be black and it’d be fine.
new Superman. His reason was he didn’t want to offend the fans, based on his skin color.
That factor sort of turned in my head when I read the first post to this Thread. Will he accept the role, because he likes it, or turn
it down due to his Colour?
I never dreamed I’d meet a person who shared my exact same perspective and wish on this matter. Besides having a wonderful personality and a prodigally developed sense of dry humor, Roger Moore was simply the most fun of all the Bonds.
As for a black Bond… why not? Although it would blatantly fly in the face of Ian Fleming’s rather detailed account of Bond’s genealogy, he’d certainly fit the bill for "tall, dark, and handsome," with perhaps somewhat of an emphasis on the median.
He being black won’t be an issue!
Fans will complain that he’s not British, and how can an American possibly be in MI agent! I mean look at the complaints about how they didn’t use a brit car as a Bond car!
I think Will Smith will be some kind of American equivalent 007 that will get mixed up in Bond’s mission, but who knows?
