Disc 2 Problem (PC Version)

Hi, I’ve got a problem I’m hoping someone can help me with.

I’m at the very end of Disc 2, where you’re supposed to go to Edea’s House (aka the Orphanage) and then battle Galbadia Garden. I got out of Balamb Garden like you’re supposed to and walked to Edea’s House, but when I pressed X nothing happened (is there supposed to be some kind of message?). My party is Squall, Zell, and Irvine. Did I do something wrong perhaps?

On another note, when I move towards Galbadia Garden while in Balamb Garden, nothing happens.

I’ve seen the long scene at Trabia Garden where you see the past, and pretty much everything before that (otherwise I wouldn’t be on Disc 2 xD).

I’ve got the latest/last patch (v1.2). This didn’t happen the last time I installed it and played the game. If anyone could help me figure out what’s wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

Edea’s House isn’t accessible at that time, actually you aren’t supposed to visit it– reboard Balamb Garden and then navigate to the nearby forest and engage with Galbadia Garden.

Edit– when you move towards G. Garden, nothing happens? Okay, that’s weird. Can you PM me please?

Anyways, I was wondering why nothing happened when I went to Edea’s House.

I just ram into Galbadia Garden and nothing happens. No FMV, no nothing. I’m pretty sure I did everything that I was supposed to do up to that point.

You’re not supposed to ram the B-Garden into the G-Garden. I can’t remember exactly where but there’s supposed to be a cutscene that show’s the Gardens colliding (my guess would be to fly the Garden around Edea’s House). I remember trying to run into the other Garden with mine on the PS1 version and nothing happened. It’s been years but I’m playing it through again (just started last night). If anything, I can use the debug menu to transport me to disc 2 and figure it out if you haven’t already.

Actually, as I recall, as soon as you navigate Balamb Garden to the general area of the forest, a sequence is supposed to trigger.

Well, I didn’t get the FMV to trigger, so I have no idea what’s wrong. My savefile isn’t messed up is it? I’ll admit to having used the Griever Editor on it, but it didn’t mess it up the last time I used it (the playthrough before this one).

Agent, I don’t suppose you could help me with regards to getting hold of VII or IX for the PC by way of a torrent/emu could you? Tried one emulator and it failed miserably. I will be damned if I have to pay over the odds for a copy of the game when I still have a PSone knocking about somewhere.

I don’t know anything about those. I have the official PC versions for both VII and VIII & I have IX for Playstation.

Direction towards someone who does know? 😉

I don’t believe IX was ever released to the PC. But this place (http://www.torrentz.com) never let me down when looking for stuff.

Ah, I remember! There’s a forest near a beach that’s close to Galbadia Garden. Run Balamb Garden over it and it should trigger the cutscene. It just hit me.

Uh, I made this thread to get help with my FFVIII PC game. I think you should probably make another thread somewhere else about that.

IDX Rider- I actually tried that and it didn’t work. But thanks for the tip. I’ll remember that if it ever happens again.

Agent0042- Thanks for all your help. I used the savestate (the one in Balamb Garden’s 1F hallway) you gave me to continue the game.

Glad that one worked and you were able to continue the game. That’s one of the reasons why I like that they made PC versions for VII and VIII. Being able to do stuff like that.

Sorry that I couldn’t help you more. I just know you’re supposed to ride over a forest or something to trigger the scene.

Also, you can for the PS versions as well, but you need a disc that I can’t think of. Kinda like the Action Replay for the PS2 where you can put PS2 save files onto a USB flash drive. It’s not Action Replay, but it allow you to do the same thing.

BEWD’s savefile was glitched. There’s no question about it in my mind. For one thing, when you approach Edea’s Orphanage, it doesn’t give you any message. Second of all, it allows you to bring Balamb Garden directly into contact with Galbadia Garden on the World Map, which is definitely not normal behavior.

I’d figured that wasn’t normal. It was the first time it had happened, so I didn’t have a clue what was wrong.

This might be a little off-topic, but I was wondering something about the savestate I’m using. Did you use a savestate Editor too? Because some of the stuff (Squall’s Lionheart for one) couldn’t have been gotten normally on Disc 2, could it?

Squall’s Lionheart is obtainable as early as Disc 1 (http://www.bladegash.net/forums/archive/index.php?t-8299.html). So are at least two other of the best weapons for the other characters.

I don’t recall using an editor on that file, though I do have one. Anything else that stood out as something that shouldn’t have been possible on Disc 2?

did u download it online or u have a disc cause i want to play it on a PC so badly ive played it on a PSX
