Agreed!! I always loved the voice acting in the Metal Gear games – on top of the drama & storyline themselves – and been looking for something like this for ages. Tried most of what was on the main Metal Gear threads on this forum ( Thread 58634 and Thread 53048 ), but nothing fit the bill like this! If I had the time, knowledge, resources and capabilities, I would’ve done something like this…. but since I didn’t, all that remains is a HUGE thaaaaank yoooooou!!! Much appreciated!!!! 😀

But i have to ask, in part 1 "War has changed" from 23:56-37:19, how do i access this in the game? Is it a Easter Egg? It sounds like it from the game, but i’ve yet to see it. I would love to see the cut scenes for it!

Appreciate you taking the time out to let me know hellrasinbrasin. Can you believe i have owned the game for a YEAR and not even know this cutscene existed? I always felt felt a little funny about how the first scene transitioned from the intro to the gameplay. This briefing helps close the story gap.

I would love to see more of these from other games that have great voice acting, plenty of dialogue, and that would still make sense when presented in this format.

Well maybe I can do some more, but I’d need some suggestions. There’s not many games with as much dialogue as MGS that I know of.

Great job friend, very much appreciated. Not sure if it matters to you, (or anyone else for that matter) but I think some of the MGS2 dialogue is missing, most notably some of Raiden and Fatman’s banter, as well as his "Laugh, and grow fat" quote. That aside, thank you very much for your contribution.

I finished going through the drama CDs. I applaud your work and thanks for being generous enough to share this with us. I (plus i’m sure everyone here) appreciate this.

But to concur with fatfazoul, I have also noticed there are some fairly important audio curiously missing from Metal Gear Solid 1,2, and 3 (Didn’t notice anything from 4 or Portable Ops). As a Metal Gear fan, it was fairly easy for me to notice they were missing, and think they should be included in order to make the drama easier to listen to.

To point out the obvious ones..

original Metal Gear Solid or Twin Snakes-

-1) Convo with Snake an Naomi in the the prison cell (After the second torture sequence). Where Snake tells Noami about him, Big Boss and Gray Fox. Naomi also talks about Frank Jeager and her background.

-2) Convo Naomi has revealing her true motivations for joining FOXHOUND (near the game final sequence after the card key nonsense) also talks about FOxDie and her brother.

I think that these two are are some of the most important conversations in the game, as Naomi is responsible for very a significant plot twist and these excerpts explains it. In fact, in MGS4, Snake recalls these same conversations in memories at Shoadow Moses. Without these included, when Noami talks about "her brother" at the end (and when Gray Fox talks about Naomi in the end) it seems confusing as to what happened, since there’s no other mention of it in the drama.

Metal Gear Solid 2- Sons of Liberty-

-1) The fatman stuff fatsfazoul talked about, if anything just to hear the "Laugh and grow fat" part.

-2) After the Harrier fight where Snake reveals himself to Raiden. A large portion was intentionally cutoff after "that’s all there is to it". I’m wondering why that happened as I thought that part it was pretty important. Snake and Otacon explain their motivation for being on Big Shell.

-3) Listening to Olga when you enter Strut 2, when she’s talking to Solidus (you use the directional mic)

-4) When President Johnson talked about the Patriots, He talked about the bills he passed, the presidential race was a "show" and something about a "power vacuum" – again something i felt was edited unnecessarily.

-5) The convo with Snake right after Johnson- Snake and Otacon tell Raiden tell Raiden about what happened 2 years ago on the Tanker. I thought that was pretty important as it explains how Snake escaped from the tanker.

-6) The part after you get Emma out of the first water section. Emma and Raiden talk about family and Otacon talks with Emma for the first time in years. This sheds some light on Raiden’s family (or lack of) and where Otacon’s and Emma’s relationship stands at that point.

There’s a lot more missing from this game than the others, which i thought was odd as there are a lot of optional parts with Raiden and Rose that are not as important as the ones omitted or edited out. the Snake conversations especially should have not be cut. Without these, the drama seems only slightly disjointed (well, to me anyway)

Metal Gear Solid 3- Snake Eater

-1) The part after Hideo Kojima’s name shows up. Zero’s mission briefing to Snake. It explians the Cuban Missile Crisis and Solovo’s role in the events.Not terribly crucial, but it does put a nice context around Snake’s mission and make everything flow smoother.

This is the only part i noticed. However, i would LOVE to hear the part where Eva reveals to Snake about Ocelot’s birth on the battlefield (She explains this during the Ocelot’s confrontation)

Again, I appreciate and love the work and apologize if i sound like a over-obsessed nerd. I just think these work great as a radio drama and these parts will help add to the storyline they convey. Plus, everyone that downloads these dramas are people that played the game and want to hear all the craziness the series is about one more time in its entirety, or people who want to know how crazy the plotlines are. I can’t think of a reason why either group would want certain scenes edited (other than the "press the X button!" stuff). I hope you can find time to re-add them, that would be stupendous!

As a whole they reach 3.12 GB (1.18 GB "used" only by MGS4)… I don’t promise anything, folks, especially with the way filesharing websites are acting nowadays [the few decent ones left are pretty eager to delete copyrighted material].

I would be incredibly grateful if you could help out L.S.K. I can understand the size of the undertaking, but I think a few people would be very happy. Nostalgidrama; having a playthrough on Youtube in the background just ain’t the same! :]

I personally think it’s better to watch a playthrough, since that would have gunshots and other stuff which would make the drama more "faithful" to the experience.. Not to mention the visual. I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve listened to those drama recordings, so I can be wrong, but I remember them being conversation->music from the OSTs/recorded->Other conversation->Track from the OST/recorded->*repeat*…. And, as other guys already stated before, there’s important dialogue/cutscene/conversation missing from these.

I’ll repeat what I said almost three years ago: the guy did a wonderful job, overall, but if you want a closer "experience" to the original thing, you should get a playthrough and extract the audio.

Apart from all of that, I still have to repeat myself: I’m not sure I’ll go through the hassle of uploading +3GB of data just to have it deleted in a few days…. With my current Internet upload speed I would need more than 20 hours to complete such task, and while this isn’t really any of your business… nor should you care about it… I recently wasted 16 hours on the upload of a 6-CDs box… so yeah… I’d like to give myself a break. I fear the file-hosting guys might get suspicious at the amount of data I’d be suddenly uploading into my account… thus, decide to check the archives’ content and ultimately screw everything. A bit paranoid, perhaps, but with what recently happened to my friends’ accounts I’ve reasons to believe they may actually take this kind of action.
Mind, I’m not saying I will not do it, but I’m not stating the contrary, either. I may consider it, just have to be in the proper mood.

Anyone having these??

Thought you both might want to know that I’m currently reuploading the drama recordings. Damn, 256kbps Constant Bitrate is definitively "filesize-overkill" for this kind of stuff, V3~VBR would have been enough.

Metal Gear Solid, 2: Sons of Liberty, 3: Snake Eater and Portable Ops have been uploaded! The only one left is 4: Guns of the Patriots. 🙂 I’ll post the links when I’ll have everything uploaded.
