It’s a shame I spent pretty much 2009 lurking around here with little or no time to be a more active member… 🙁 I decided to create this topic so I can better share with you my electronic music instead of creating a post for each new LP I release like I did with The Wipeout Legacy and The Dune Tribute. Yes indeed, Return ][ Arrakis is a tribute to David Lynch’s vision of Dune and his 1984 movie, while borrowing a few aspects/sounds from the Dune 2000 Sci-Fi Channel miniseries. If you’re a fan of Frank Herbert’s work and like electronic music, it’s a LP for you. Check the Spice videoclip on top of the page for a preview. I’m a huge Dune fan, and I hope to one day cover the videogames, too. (I love Spice Opera, btw)
Alpha ][ Mu, as written in the description is the OST for a game I’m developing with my friends. We got a 10 man team of programmers and artists, we all love videogames, we all wanted to make videogames but ended up doing other things professionally. Thus, this will be our little pet project so that we can say "we did a videogame". Trust me, in Portugal, this is a huge achievement. For now, no media or page, just the OST that I was cleared to release on the past Xmas. The concept is a 2D "Metroidvania" but with fully working physics, lighting and particle effects. We already have a pretty solid base game engine that we hope to reuse and upgrade in future projects. For now, hope you enjoy the OST! v ^_^

Could never decide between 2 and 3 on NES and Game Boy receptively… damn, I just love the whole series.
I can’t really say anything you won’t find better explained on the web. For starters I read Computer Music Magazine every month. You should buy at least one because the DVD on its cover will have everything you need to make music on a Windows PC or Mac. Even if you have no a single clue about how to make music, you will always learn something useful on the magazine. After that, you can browse music from MIDI files at VGMusic (http://www.vgmusic.com/). People have been transcribing video game music for years and contributing the files over there, if you can’t read sheet music the MIDI files will help you easily visualise the notes. After you get the hang of everything, I advise you to invest in my favourite DAW: FL Studio. affordable, has infinite possibilities and even has a very handy MIDI import feature. You don’t really need to invest much on paid VST instruments, because there are a lot of amazing free stuff out there. The only real advice I want to give is never give up! Things will really look complicated when you start, the first few remixes might not sound at all like you were imagining, but if you dedicate yourself to it, we live in days where technology allows us to emulate an entire symphonic orchestra in our laptop computers… and that’s just too damn exciting to pass on. Good luck!

I was quite sad when Suda51 tweeted that Masato Masuda had passed away at age 48. He single handedly produces the Famicom Disk System version of "Pro Wrestling" and he went on to Human Entertainment to produce the many entries of the fantastic series of "Fire Pro Wrestling" video games that are still today the finest 2D wrestling series ever made.
