(if there was a new FF title, i might not know it, refresh my memory)
The switch was due to a dispute with Nintendo over its use of faster and more expensive cartridges, as opposed to the slower, cheaper, and much higher capacity compact discs used on rival systems. Final Fantasy VII introduced 3D graphics with fully pre-rendered backgrounds. It was because of this switch to 3D that a CD-ROM format was chosen over a cartridge format.
That was the reason SE and Nintendo parted company, and with the release of the Nintendo Gamecube, SE has released Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Not one of the mainstream titles, and with two later Crystal Chronicles games released for the Nintendo Wii, FF did return to Nintendo albeit not many ‘true’ fans consider the Crystal Chronicles series as FF canon.
Nintendo also was notorious for making a lot of demands on the developers of games for it’s consoles (something Sony has also done), which not just SE but other developers felt stifling.
But to answer your question, ‘Should Nintendo and Final Fantasy reunite?’.
No. Nintendo is the past, as is Sony now. SE should move on, not just with other consoles, but with other games and not just focus solely on FF (to the extent other titles they release are mediocre and lacklustre) but try their hand at other genre of games.
As there was no option to say ‘No – Both need to move on’, I decline to vote.
I agree perhaps SE should try other genres, and alos not rely solely on their only good game series ie Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and DragonQuest.

ill ad that option with no problem if you like
Would you? That would ever be so nice.
I cant seem to be able to edit the poll for some reason, it just lets me edit what i wrote in my message.
And don’t revive threads.
The question is.
Should Square-Enix kick out Nomura from FF?

Quoted for emphasis. Although his original FFVII designs weren’t bad, practically everything he’s done since has been a bastardized pop fest (although I didn’t mind his designs of classic Amano characters in Dissidia – I especially liked Cosmos’s design).
But I digress.
My thought’s exactly, although I was annoyed by some things in FFVII’s artwork too…

Should Square-Enix kick out Nomura from FF?
I kinda wish they would, honestly; things are so much better when Amano does the artwork.
I’d recommend releasing FF games for the S.N.E.S again. They were the best of the main series imo.
This will never happen I’m afraid. The majority of players nowadays would rather play something that looks photo-realistic and plays like shit, with nothing memorable about it. Makes me sick.
Not so much… they’ve worked till VI because…
FFIX has one of the worse Artwork IMO and it’s from Amano…
But Nomura is the one that it’s damaging more FF than anyone else in S-E In my Opinion.
So, if you feel hatred for FFIX’s character designs Topopoz, don’t blame Amano – blame those three above. :p
And this is what’s wrong with the gaming industry of today. One of its many shortcomings unfortunately.

Okay, retract about Amano, KILL THOSE OTHER 3 GUYS!!!!

Graphics don’t make the game, they only enhance what’s already there. Majority of gamers now focus just on how pretty the game looks… that if it doesn’t look flashy and spectacular, it’ll suck. The FF games on the SNES are still far superior than the PS2/PS3/Xbox 360 versions.
Exactly. IV and VI still hold superiorty over the fanbase.
I wish they would make the newer games like the PS1 and SNES games FOR the ps3 and 360. That way no one can complain about the graphics (which I admit carries about 20% of my likes/dislikes about a game) and we retain the original gameplay and storyline. But S-E is in it for the money and so the chances of that happening are slim to none
it should, s.e. still exists today thanks to nintendo
now that im just a gamer, i would say:
yes, it should. S.E. are now just money mongrels, so releasing the same game albeit sacrificing graphics would still sell a lot.
cod4 and 5 on the wii proves it.
