Zdoom, vavoom, Doomsday Engine, I used to play DOOM, Hexen, Heretic & Strife with those.

Misu and Sarah, neither of those worked ๐ I think it’s the computer I’m using. I’ll try both those ideas on my Vista laptop ๐
Are you sure you put the .dll in the right folder? :p

If all fails, well, congratulations, you’ve happened onto one of my nitpicks with progresses in technology: inability to play older games on modern boxes.
Those are pretty old games meant for Win9x boxes. Either go with Sarah’s suggestion and use zdoom, dig out a old Pentium 2 from the attic, or go out and buy a old Pentium 2 with a old copy of Win98. If you dread the idea of another box, you could try emulating a Win98 PC using a VMWare install. Of course, you’ll still need a copy of Win98 from somewhere.
This is all happening because M$ is phasing out the DirectPlay libraries from Vista onwards. So yeah, blame M$.
you will get 3 games for half the price than buying doom 1 and 2 on xbox live arcade
