Tracklist:
01. INTERMISSION (Benjamin Nuss)
02. Welcome back & The Greatest Legend
03. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA – SYMPHONIC POEM (36 min!!!)
04. Standing Ovations & Bonus Level
05. ENCORE
I will say the following:
1. Oikonny’s Fleet or Space Armada had to be in the Starfox Suite
2. They should have replaced F-Zero with the DK Jungle (solo drum part would make sense in such a suite)
3. The Metroid Suite should have progressed from the dark tone to a heroic fanfare, also Ridley’s theme could have been used
4. Aquatic Ambience should have been combined with the Maridia Themes from Super Metroid
5. The monumental Zelda Suite could have been shorter and the remaining 10-12 minutes could have been used for a Kirby Suite and a Fire Emblem Opera
Other than that it was heaven ! I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Symphonic Fantasies and I will definetly buy the CD.
If you love Nintendo you will have a teary eye during the ENCORE (can anyone identify all of the end credits they used, I can only count 8 or 9 themes)
and if you can understand german you will also have a good time between the tracks π
"When I heared the End Credits of Metroid Prime Corruption in harmony with the Wind Waker Theme in ENCORE and the chor singing NINTENDO in the final crescendo … just wow"
Enjoy
EDIT: To avoid any further confusion this is not in 5.1, it’s an MP3 conversion from the 5.1 WDR Audio Stream (that’s just the NAME of the stream, therefore I mentioned it in the description) and I don’t upload in FLAC for various reasons.
The Quality should be high enough to keep you satisfied till the CD release.
I hope you’re joking it’s 36 minutes long.
Not at all. I didn’t felt it that long. I don’t want a 3 hour track, but it’ll be nice a 45 minutes Suite with more content in it. Something that lefted Final Fantasy like rubbish.
Anyone knows were to get a the ripped video stream version?
If it’s MP3 now, then it’s not split into six channels anymore but only two channels οΏ½ so no 5.1 but just plain stereo.
Anyone knows were to get a the ripped video stream version?
Yeah, I’d like that too!
F-ZERO and Metroid have very good soundtracks and the pieces in the concert definitely don’t reflect that. It’s difficult to believe that both concerts were arranged by the same guy.
It’s a (mostly) good concert, but I think the arranger went out of his way to embellish the music more than he had to. Most of the Zelda suite sounds like music from Lord of the Rings and the major Zelda themes are barely recognizable.
It’s difficult to believe because it just wasn’t the case. Last time the only arrangers were Valtonen and Wanamo (co-arrangement on one suite). This time the arranger cast was much larger and included Hamaguchi and Hamauzu, both which have a very distinct style that is of course vastly different from the one Jonne is known for.

Jonne Valtonen, who worked on the entire concert last year, only arranged the The Legend of Zelda this time, which was unsurprisingly the best one. π
Edit: Ok, there must be something messed up with the download or something, cause further into the song, around 7:30ish in Terra’s Theme starts up. Lol,
Thanks for the try but you failed.

I’m sorry to say it but this is junk. you confertet only the front channels to a stereo mp3. So back left, back right , center and bas is missing. you can here that in the moderation part.
Thanks for the try but you failed.
EDIT: Nevermind…
mp3 are 5.1 able so i dont see the problem.
i was searching for the 5.1 version. so when you know its not 5.1 why dont you write it in the info like "stero downmix" .
in this case i had 120 mb trafic for nothing.

I’d suggest trying to give some input to the forum before being so instantly critical.
As for my opinion on the concert, I’m agreeing with Zelda Reorchestrated’s reviews and saying that the Zelda segment was mostly a shambles, and showed the composer was not a fan of the series to know what should be played and how.
Both Mario suites were good, and I don’t know what happened with the DKC suite… at least half of listeners wont even recognise it!
i still merged the second folder into the first and changed the numbering to a complete 18 track order though.
but i’m still dieing to get a cut of the video stream, has noone recorded or uploaded it? π

Youtuber user KajunW (http://www.youtube.com/user/KajunW) has uploaded most of them. He’s missing Starfox, SMB and the Fanfare for the Common 8-bit hero, though.
EDIT:
Quoting T. BοΏ½cker for thruth (interview from SEMO):
Thomas Boecker: I never want to play safe in choosing fan favorites only, and going the easy way with simple arrangements that are as close as possible to the originals, just to avoid making somebody upset. This is not my style, and fans who are attending my concerts know that. There is always room for controversial discussions οΏ½ just think back to Turrican II at Symphonic Shades, or the whole suite concept of Symphonic Fantasies. There is the risk that certain people might not like it, but I prefer a lively discussion about my concerts over statements such as "well, nice" every day.
Basically, I want to achieve something, I want to set new standards. I think this is what makes us different from a lot of the competition: that we are not a purely commercial production, but are aiming for artistic freedom. This is luxury, yes, but it was a long and hard road until there. No question that we are also following rules of the market; after all, we want to entertain and the success at the box office is necessary in order to continue with the series. However, with the loyal and open-minded fans that we have, we can try some experiments and prove to the world of orchestral music lovers that video game music is much more than movie soundtrack rip-offs and superficial entertainment.
@jettjett i know there’s the youtube playlist, but i’d like a complete HQ download for the video stream!
ps: i respect that the ‘artsy’ arrangements are difficult to appreciate for most people, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of, i’m a piano player and know a bit about music theory and classical music so it’s easier for me to ‘get’ it.
I listened to the F-Zero suite and is very good.
However, I also have to agree somewhat on the previous point about the Metroid arrangement. Despite being thoroughly familiar with the series’ music, I had a lot of trouble picking many familiar tunes out of this version (I ID’d 3 or 4 for about five seconds at a time). Overall, it just struck me as jumbled – a bit of a cacophony. Still, it’s an interesting approach that has a sort of atmospheric style to it, which is something that the series is already known for.
Overall, very nice stuff. I thought the encore was particularly well-arranged. It’s always cool to see game music get that touch of "high culture" now and then.
EDIT: And now that I’ve read the entire thread, I’ve got to agree with patrick1. Why are you naming this thread as the High Quality 5.1 Audio-Rip when that’s clearly not what you’re sharing? You’re just telling us what you have, not what you’re sharing. It can get pretty confusing. At least you mentioned it next to the download links that they’re MP3s… but why MP3? Also, like patrick1 said, you didn’t downmix the extra channels, you just removed them. That’s not a pretty good conversion. Although, if I’m wrong please show me.
Anyway, thx again. I’d still like to see the 5.1 version since that’s what the thread is supposedly about…
The Quality should be high enough to keep you satisfied till the CD release. I though people were familiar with the audio-stream "5.1" and would know that it’s not in 5.1 quality but a "good" quality rip from it.
I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. That is all.

I don’t intend to pester anybody, but what various reasons do you have to not upload the FLAC recording besides lack of uploading bandwidth?
The difference between flac and high quality mp3 is also very small for the untrained ear.
Besides, even if a music score or a concert recording is not available anymore or cannot be purchased at all and I would be willing to share it in flac, my upload bandwidth would make this near impossible.

:objection:
Like I said, I don’t want to provoke a flame war or anything but these two statements clearly contradict each other (OBJECTION!!, lol). You just said that you’d rather share the MP3 instead of the FLAC because you don’t want to harm the record company… but you’re encoding it at 320kbps which is pretty close to what anybody can hear with FLAC.
[…]and I would be willing to share it in flac, my upload bandwidth would make this near impossible.
I think this should be your main argument. No dogfight here. If you have poor bandwidth then there’s no bone to pick. Won’t trouble you any more on that matter.
What you should keep in mind and what a few of have been saying is this:
Can you at least properly downmix or let someone who knows how to do it if you aren’t going release the FLAC for whatever reason? It’s not "good" when channels are downright removed.
Peace and cheers. π
@ Zhelkus
He doesn’t want to upload it in FLAC. Get over it. Some people…
it’s so frustrating there’s no video stream upload.. it will now be lost forever except for a few lucky guys. if i had known that, i’d have recorded it myself. for symphonic fantasies, several people posted the stream.
None?
You don’t know Xenogears nor Xenosaga Ep. 1? CREID doesn’t ring any bell?
That would be very sad to hear, since you’re missing out a lot of the good stuff he did.

Or give us the 5.1 that you have in a different format.

Thread 80909
There are strong indications that such a CD is never going to come. Which isn’t very surprising, when you consider Nintendo’s politics concerning album releases.
Sorry, but you are wrong. It has already been confirmed to be released in September 2011. It should be somewhere between the 17th and the 24th.
… … … O… M…. G…!!!! I’ve heard re-mixes of the Mario Bros.64 Water Song before, but… This… Thank you soo much!!!
Yes, That song is called Dire, Dire Docks.
MP3 Surround – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3_Surround)
Or maybe this could somehow work:

Where? State your source.
The producer said it is unlikely that they can release a CD because of licensing and Nintendo policies. The only thing confirmed for 2011 is a concert, no CD.
Today (or yesterday) the website is back with the Legends page. The streaming links are gone, but the concert program link is still there; new links show four reviews. But that’s not my point in posting this…
Could it be possible that they will be putting the full concert up here to watch?
They already confirmed that they will try to make the concert permanently available in high-quality.
Let me quote Thomas Boecker, who managed the concert and previous Symphonic Game Music concerts,
"It is difficult to predict at this time if a release of the concert on CD or DVD will happen. However, having said this we are definitely planning with making the concert permanently available in high quality in one way or another. It is not going to be lost, and there will be options for fans to relive the concert experience as much as they want. One thing that should be emphasised, too: Symphonic Legends is going to be the first video game music concert that will be broadcast live in 5.1 surround sound."

I believe this update pretty much confirms that they are nearing a date to allow people to stream the concert! π
Thank you sooooooooooo much for this.
Thank you sooooooooooo much for this.
Dude, the BGM in the Pokemon anime is already arranged. Plus it is extremely beautiful and almost never seems to get released on CD.
So Bastard comes to the rescue:
Zelda.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/?w1g0r0c391i9pcj)
I’ve used Wave Pad to split the songs up. First I had to convert them to lossless Wave format using dB Poweramp Music Converter because Wave Pad said the files were either corrupt or not layer-3 MPEG. Then I converted them in Wave Pad back to MP3 at 160kbps.
In terms of the actual splitting up, I tried being strategic – looking for obvious points in the track where the sound dies down to (near) silence. In one case, it just couldn’t work because you end up splitting the songs at a point where two songs get merged awkwardly. Nevertheless, I think I did a good job. I used Fade In and Fade Out functions to try and make it sound more natural, nothing fancy.
I end up with 7 parts, averaging about 4:50 per song. Enjoy or go screw yourselves.
*facepalm*
I’m new here, so I’m just learning where to look for things on the forums. I found the Symphonic Legends Soundtrack available for download on OSTProject.co.cc, but it’s all garbled, and really terrible sounding. I’m not quite sure if anyone said so, but has the full quality been released yet?
The only thing that maybe is going to happen is a "remastering" by the WDR of the concert livestream.
Probably. I have different rips on my server, which all have their advantage and disadvantages. Neither of them comes near the quality of the official release of e.g. Symphonic Fantasies.
Also, is there any place where you can extract 7z files online, because I currently can’t download any such applications on this computer.
You can’t download 7zip on your system? Then why can you download music on your system?
Why CAN’T I? I can download files. I have two utterly useless 7z files on my desktop, and nothing I have on here opens them. That’s the trouble with a family computer; you don’t get to do whatever you like with it.
Oh well.
Oh well.
I still don’t understand you. Just download 7zip then, install it and unpack the 7zip archives. I really don’t see the problem.
If you don’t have the rights to install anything on the system, just use a portable version of 7zip (google for it), which doesn’t need installation.
Ditto
What a fucking dingus.
Thanks for contributing though.
Dear klnerfan, I will TOTALLY BLOW YOU if you upload the flac~
Since he hasn’t responded, I guess not.
Did anyone else catch the stream while it was available? Is it still available somewhere?

I listened to it live. It seems to be gone forever, sadly. WDR decided not to release it due to the difficulty in copyrights with Nintendo. There’s actually a higher quality recording here (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cn078lec96z1e0z) since it wasn’t down-mixed to stereo. (It’s noticeably better sounding).
If the archive still has a password, it’s primeblue , the name of the original uploader.
Maybe you posted the wrong archive? You mention that primeblue uploaded a lossy version not mixed down to stereo, so that must be the one?

I know, but here’s why. The 192 kbps satellite audio stream had 5.1 audio, but was mixed down to stereo by the OP. This recording from me was the internet stream, which was 128 stereo. This is the one that primeblue posted. I’m just not sure if I extracted and rearhived all of the files with the password or not. There’s a thread that explains everything here (Thread 80909). Though it looks like Prime Blue deleted the post when the links went down so read this (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f63/symphonic-legends-orchestral-nintendo-concert-live-stream-80083/#post1549382).
Could someone please name what the music is that plays from 00.00 – 01.17 of the Super Mario Bros Retro Suite? And which game it is from?
Thanks in advance!
Yes. Unfortunately, Nintendo music – which is the best music – will always skip a CD release because Nintendo’s fucking stupid when it comes to licensing. They must hate money.
