Tell me, can you make a "not in the soundtrack/OST" versions for halo 1, 2, and reach? It would help.
Also, what kind of quality can i expect of the "split apart version" of the reach OST?
Any chance you could rip this song from Reach?
YouTube – Halo: Reach OST Extras "Fly by Night" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09DIw8GwehQ&feature=related)
This song is a really badass remix of a ODST track…and it’s a damn shame that it wasn’t featured in the Reach OST.
I am getting a file not found error on Halo Reach part 1 ๐
I knew I shouldn’t have gotten rid of my old POS.
I’ll see what I can do.
That’s cool, thanks again for your other releases. =]
EDIT: Never mind. Something is just wrong with my computer.
Those would be amazing if you could somehow separate the music from the sfx.
Until someone figures out the new .map files for Reach, it will remain unrippable (Spelling).
Were halo 3’s .map files not rippable too?
Did you make this?:
(http://img146.imageshack.us/i/folderfo.jpg/)
If so, good job. but can i make a few suggestions?:
~Michael last name is spelled wrong its "Salvatori"
~"Composed and produced by" text should be smaller then the artist names
~The halo reach logo should be bigger like the size in reach’s OST cover
~The MGS and bungie logos should be smaller about the same size as they were in the OST cover.
~The "Tracks not in the original soundtrack" text seems to fade into the picture.
I’ll fix it up today if I can find a bigger logo of Halo: Reach.
EDIT:
*pic*
Is this better?
Yeah its a definate improvment. the MGS logo is a bit off though move it towards the end of the pic and your good.
Here you go the biggest size possiable i could find of the halo reach logo:
Anyways, can you tell me which tracks of the halo 2 game rip never made it to the official OST release? i know "04 The Arbiter (3)" is definitely one of them (its follow, the official release had a vocal version).
Thanks for all of this im gonna donwload it^
EDIT: Weird, I can even see the files inside the .zips/.rars but it’s saying they’re either corrupted or damaged. Anyone else have this problem?
Although sadly I still don’t qute have the track I want! Although it is on the Halo 2 rip, it’s too short! One of these days I’ll start ripping myself…
Don’t know if OrangeC will ever see this, but I must say, I don’t know how you managed to extract the music, considering there is no known public method I could find to access Halo 3’s .MAP files, you really are the master of game ripping. I hope ill be able to add Reach, Anniversary and The Reclaimer Trilogy to my extensive collection one day.
MediaFire Space is the best ever!
Does this mean you have a rip of Halo 1? Would you be willing to post it?

Oh, you are my hero! *-*
Wait a minute…
I looked for a button to give you rep, there wasn’t any, but then I clicked on your nickname, chose go to your Homepage and saw that your YT channel is Gabe Logan! -I just suscribed a few days ago!-
What a -nice- surprise!
When can we expect a gamerip version or unreleased tracks version of Halo 4 OST up?
Who here would be interested in that exactly?
Well, I can’t formulate an opinion on Halo 4 because I quit gaming about a year ago.
Soundtrack is good though, can’t get enough of 117 and Nemesis.
And yes Nemesis is the shit, love how it builds up.
Check again, it should work now.
Anyways, Is there gamerip versions of Reach, Wars, and ODST?

OJ Simdicks ripped that one (Thread 102369)

someone on the vgm legacy thread ripped that one (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/vgm-legacy-thread-64926/20.html#post1270085)

No one bothered to rip it
If you don’t mind, would you add those to the first post?
EDIT: Crap, Wars is a megaupload link.

EDIT: Crap, Wars is a megaupload link.
I don’t see why you are interested in the Wars rip, it’s the only halo game that got all of it’s music released in the OST save for the two Music Drones that play in the main menu (which are also included in my Halo: Wars release).
The Main Menu drones I was talking about (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXiAXtQ5HjA)

Its more completion sake really. Like to have all the gamerip versions along with the soundtrack versions.
Thank you though.
Nope.
Doubt anyone has managed to crack the singleplayer maps yet.
Halo 4 is using the blam! engine, right?
Doubt anyone has managed to crack the singleplayer maps yet.
Halo 4 is using the blam! engine, right?
It uses a highly rebuilt and modified version of it, it’s not so much the .map format that is the issue. The sounds are archived separately from the .map archive and are in two .PCK archives. The problem is that most .PCK archives have single RIFF .OGG files. Halo 4 has a massive compressed .pck archive WITH chunks that uses Audiokinetic Wwise RIFX OGG. So previous methods don’t work.
And no one has provided a sample to Alpha for him to help with a possible method.
And no one has provided a sample to Alpha for him to help with a possible method.
Hmm… gonna have to ask him then, anyone know where I can get the H4 ISO?
You could get it from The Usual Suspects.
I would send him a sample, but the .PCK file is 299MB and I don’t know how to cut it down to a small enough size.

Get winrar, pack all .pck files you find, split the archive to pieces of 200mb using winrar, upload them to mediafire and hope he accepts your request.
Isn’t there another way though? I mean I’ve split files before, but sometimes I see people post small KB or 1-5MB versions of otherwise large archives. Dues Ex HR Big_File is one that I can remember offhand…
People who split files into 1-5mb are idiots, you can split winrar archives to whatever size you want, reason I said 200mb is because that’s the mediafire limit.
Say you have 1GB of files, you fire up winrar, select all files, add them to a rar archive and then on the archive creation screen you should see a Split to volumes/size tab at the bottom, you then type 200mb and bam, you’re done, you’ll get 5 .part files, 200mb each.
You then upload them to mediafire and wait for the magic to happen.

I actually found another way, which was what I was talking about. You take the file, open it up in a hex editor and just cut off unnecessary data.
Any progress?
I’d love to hear the game score.

So this a game rip of Halo 4? Made by yourself?
Nope, that’s just a compilation.
Game rip of the game does not exist.
Thank you very much!
The good news is I’ve been able to extract a small portion of the score.
The bad news is 1: the music is basically like a stem, it’s not tagged, so piecing the score together is going to take a LONG time. Oh and the cinematic music is mixed with foley, so yeah you won’t have that music. 2: the .pck archive is different from all the others and I cannot extract the contents of soundbank.pck 3: nobody cares or wants to help .
I’m still new to extracting, that’s part of the reason why nobody will help.
Now this is what I can say about the contents of both .pck archives. Halo 4’s audio uses four formats Wwise OGG, XMA, .WEM, xWMA and xWMA Pro. wem is associated with audiokinect Wwise but it doesn’t appear to be audio.
What sucks too is I’m also looking to extract the sound effects (I have a weird obsession with collecting sounds, don’t ask why) that are in the soundbank.pck, along with any remaining music.

I for one thank you for your effort! If I knew anything about how to make a game rip, I would most definitely help.
I appreciate the sincerity, I wish I could extract everything. It annoys me, it’s possible, its not like trying to extract the sounds from the frostbite 2 engine which nobody can figure out. .pck is a somewhat common archive, a lot of games use it.
It’s possible, but only if somebody publicly discloses how to actually do it. All I’ve been able to get are these same files out of 10,000+ from just the soundstream.pck.
It’s really of no use to anyone besides maybe the main menu music. But you still have stuff that isn’t convertible and you still need to access the soundbank.pck archive to make sure you have everything.
Here it is. (http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/3/7/861170/H4.zip)
Like I said it isn’t much.
EDIT: Weird, I can even see the files inside the .zips/.rars but it’s saying they’re either corrupted or damaged. Anyone else have this problem?
I second this. Both H2_XGR.7z.001 and H2_XGR.7z.002 are unusable in their current form. Getting them to function as a 7z archive is beyond me.
EDIT: After more searching, found a programme called HJ Split. It combined the parts without any problems.

Seems Alpha23 is also busy in this board. These people must have a clue ๐
E2: I just found this: Halo 4 Audio Extractor: https://github.com/amd7/composer
That thing is really nice! Extracts and converts all audio files! ๐ Wooho. You just have to import it in Visual Studio and then build it. Unfortunately the button "extract all" isn’t completed in the source code so far. So you have to select your files manually.
It also doesn’t extract anything from soundbank.pck. It doesn’t really matter because I’ve already extracted everything from that archive. To be absolutely sure I’d have to manually go though the soundstream.pck by hex and that is a pain in the ass and time consuming.
In any case you may or may not have a complete score for Halo 4. If I post what I have it will most likely be a project (similar to assassins creed 3). Why? Because like I said in my previous post most of the music is basically a stem mix, which is awesome and a pain in the ass at the same time, you’ll need to sit in front of your xbox or watch a playthrough of each level and listen carefully and play it by ear. And time is never on my side.
What I will go out on a limb and say is I will be posting something very special and long overdue. When? When I finish it, hopefully soon. Please be patient that’s all I ask.

Thank you for your hard work!!
I asked AMD about the extract all button and he said that he might do it sometime soon.
One question: Is it possible that you leave the music in it’s original format like flac (lossless)?
I hope you all don’t mind .ogg for the other stuff coming too.
The best way is to leave the files in its particular extracted format (I’m talking of the file format when you open a .wem file in hex, e.g. XWMA [=58574D41], WAV [=5741564566]…Just what the tool "composer" does, when you extract a file with activated converting but deactivated compressing).
I’m just getting interested in all these things with extracting the .pck and indentifying the extracted file formats by its headers etc (http://infectionist.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24828).. But it’s very complex and I don’t have much time at the moment ):
I’m wondering if there are unmerged soundtracks on the dvd at all…
Anyone care to take a look at them for music?
I assume the music is stored in shared.map knowing how bungie usually does their stuff.

Halo 4 I will not re-encode and leave it in its native format.
Halo Combat Evolved Original Soundtrack isn’t working anymore, also the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack and the Remixes.
Uff, took me a while but I did it, I finally re-updated everything.

Redownload them again, made a new archive, should work now.
It will be some time, unless somebody posts it before I do, ODST has my priority, followed by Anniversary.
I hate to nitpick and I hope this isn’t taken in any wrong way but it would have been nice if some of the track titles were as I named them, for example the reason why one track was named Marcus’s Inferno was 1: it was a tie to Marcus Lehto the Creative Director for Reach. 2: the title is in homage to Cameron’s Inferno a track from Terminator 2, named for the fact that it plays when the characters are in the steel mill. Which is where the player runs through when that track plays in Reach. Another example is Halsey’s lab, the track doesn’t play in her lab or near her lab, the track plays when you enter the area of the lab, which is the Babd Catha Forerunner Complex where the Forerunner Ship is buried. And the cover uses the post war logo when it should of actually used the previous version. And it looks like my poor, poor cover was thrown out the door, I put a lot of time into that ๐
I’m not saying you have to change it, but I felt I should explain why they were named what they were named.
Sorry, delete what you downloaded and redownload it again, I forgot I set that thing with a password and I can’t even remember it.

ODST, Anniversary and Halo 4. I only have free time during the weekends so it will be awhile but yes it is all coming.
Duuuuuuuude……… That’s sick!
Awesome. I’ll be looking forward for it.
Also, good luck to infilltrator with ODST, Anniversary, and Halo 4.
By the way, quick question, has anybody got a conclusive answer about what the opening track on the main menu of Halo 4 is called? I keep getting mixed answers, would really appreciate anybody willing to help.

Also was is the track order different form the official release, and why is everything tagged to be composed by Marty and Mike?

and the file is called "x60_YOLO4_the_missing_sauce_deux.7z" something close to that?
There is going to be a slight delay on ODST I got about half way though extracting when I discovered something to help automate the process. As such I’m going to throw out what I’ve done and use this new method which will make it easier and faster for me.
I can’t give an ETA but it’s coming

3 parts of To Galaxy? Where did you get those? Or did you split the song? Would you please share the files? Ok, enough questions.
And is it me, or does To Galaxy (Extended) from Vol. 2 sould like the theme from Back to the Future at @4:00 min?
And is it me, or does To Galaxy (Extended) from Vol. 2 sould like the theme from Back to the Future at @4:00 min?
YES!!! FINNALY OMG SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME!!!!!! I’ve been asking the same thing and everyone thinks I’m nuts lol
You’re not nuts. It’s there. Totally threw me for a loop the first time I heard it.
And is it me, or does To Galaxy (Extended) from Vol. 2 sould like the theme from Back to the Future at @4:00 min?
I don’t hear the resemblance.
Do tell.
Do tell.
Listen to the main title from BTTF. The very beginning trumpet line. For those musically inclined, C G C Bb A G A G F G. The theme that’s playing at @4:09 min in To Galaxy is almost the same.
EDIT:
To further illustrate; http://www.mediafire.com/?dpun82rtbxtvf99
I lowered the pitch of the BTTF section to the same as To Galaxy for better comparison.

Neil Davidge confirmed for shameless ripping off.
Neil Davidge confirmed for shameless ripping off.
Or just paying homage….
Oh, that works too.
To establish clarification:
There is one version of the Ost Vol 1 (5:02 min).
One "extended" version of Vol 2 (7:04 min)
And one version for people who bought the Vol 1 CD (Standard CD), these got a voucher / download code for 6 songs; thereunder three remixes of the special edition and the three songs ‘To Galaxy (Extended)’: 4:19min, ‘Amour’ and ‘Foreshadow’. These last three differ from the songs on the Vol. 2, although they have the same names.
the 3 cues are not short version , long version, of of one tracks … but several variation on the same theme, or maybe part 1, 2,3 of the same traks (To Galaxy, "extended" 1, "extended" 2) or alternates
but the 3 tracks are not the same thing deserve to be in the track listing
ODST comin’ soon. Halo 4 still gonna be a bitch. (to extract)
Whats left for Halo 4? didn’t Volume 2 cover all the tracks that were not released?
Nothing really, I don’t see the need to do a complete gamerip for H4. However if there is a demand Ill do it, but I’d save that for last, because that is going to take the longest. And ill just have to post it as a DIY because unlike previous halos, Halo 4’s music is structured like stem mixes. And to try and put that back together out of 800+ files. Just no……
Isn’t there some music missing from vol 1 & 2? Unless I missed it, the music from the cutscene when master chief is following the didact and emerges from slipspace piloting the litch isn’t there. It sounds very star wars-esque.
Not sure but I know that the Halo choir that played in that cutscene wasn’t in Vol. 2. so there may be a few left just not as many now that Neil released the majority of the unreleased tracks.
Please still do a game rip though.
All the cutscene music in the game has two major problems. One: All of the cutscene music is of a way lower quality than the in-game music. Two: the cutscene music is sadly mixed with Foley (aka sound effects), there is no dialog but you cannot get that music in any isolated form.
That doesn’t mean I won’t do it, I absolutely will, but be aware it will be a bit of both cool and disappointment.
What about the tracks to the 2 live-action trailers for Reach, "Birth of a Spartan" and "Deliver Hope"?
What about them? If you think anybody outside of the studio that both mixed and composed that music has that you are in for a world of disappoint. (Hell I want the official music to We Are ODST but it ain’t gonna happen unless somebody like Scorepranos got it. Which is also impossible since he gave everybody here the bird.) The only thing you have to download are fan remixes which despite the tremendous fan effort are still far from acceptable.
If you’re asking where you can get the fan versions of those songs check the other halo collection thread.

I have Deliver Hope, but it does have some SFX in it. I may have gotten it from here, I don’t remember. I think whomever uploaded it tried to eliminate as much SFX as they could. I can upload it if you want….
I find the last song ‘Majestic’ of Halo 4 Vol. 2 sounds a lot like Star Wars (from 00:57 min on)! Maybe it’s that track?
Hmm, might be. I’ll have to play the game again to see.
Nope, that’s not it.
Or is it just [foreign chanting]?
It is a total quantity of 22778 sound files and around 7GB big, when decoded in lossless format or ogg (depending of the soundfile’s encoded source format).
So, because of its big size I won’t upload it here. Also because most of them are just sounds of 1 – 5 seconds.
But if someone is interested, here’s the tool: https://github.com/amd7/composer
Thank this nice guy, who coded this tool. I discovered it some time earlier, but only now (there was an update) it is possible to decode all paths recursively and full automatic (=extract all files at once).
For me it decoded only 20497 files, so there a few missing (maybe the tool doesn’t recognize or can not decode all files in the .pcks).
For running this tool, you need to compile the project with visual studio and add the xWMAEncode tool to a specific directory before. There are two README files which describe that.
Say hello to MC, Cortana & Didact (examples):
Zippyshare.com (http://www28.zippyshare.com/v/83823863/file.html)

Zippyshare.com (http://www49.zippyshare.com/v/28091657/file.html)
And YES: There are a lot of music pieces heard ingame and are free from any sfx! (Have a look in the 1,2GB "music" folder). There are maybe some that are not on the two OSTs!
Have fun ๐

How do you get the .pck files? My computer reads the H4 disc as a DVD, not a data disc. I’ve looked around the web and can’t find a good explanation on how to get those files.
Sorry to pry, but any progress?
Hi, you have to get a Halo 4 DVD image from somewhere…and then use isoextract to extract the image to folders..Then you will have a folder structure like: sound\English(US)\ wherein are the two .pck files.
Of course putting your Halo 4 DVD into your pc won’t work..That would be too easy ๐ So either you mnake your own dvd image (then you will need a special dvd drive etc..) or download the image.
ODST I’ve sadly fallen a bit behind on. I have finish ripping Uplift Reserve and am moving on to Kizingo Boulevard. My initial hopes of completing it faster went right out the door, and in fact it is taking me longer simply because the extraction process isn’t perfect and still produces errors that you have to go into a DAW and fix. Plus It can’t extract everything. So I have to sometimes brute rip files from the .map archive. (aka how I did Reach)
It is still coming but I can’t tell you it’s gonna be like a couple of weeks. Plus my time is more limited for various personal reasons.
Halo 4, funny enough, I’ve finished ripping. And I’m looking at uploading that real soon.
i am much excited by this! i hope much that it will be good like Forward unto Dawn, which has some of my favorite most music!

Awesome! Thanks again for all your hard work!
Woohoo! Thanks!
Amazing! Thanks n_n
Life saver man, not only did you identify the track I was waiting for since the game came out and didnt realize was on volume 2 but also realized that I never added volume 2 to my backup, so when I last restored my iPod I still only had volume 1 in there.

Haven’t heard from you in a while Infiltrator. Any update on ODST?
I finished Kizingo Boulevard, moving on to Mombassa streets.
FUD’s soundtrack is released appearently.
Btw. I often hear a unknown Halo 4 song on Halo Waypoint (Xbox App). Here it is: Zippyshare.com – Halo Waypoint Xbox Unknown Song (Slow or Deep Version of Halo 4’s ‘Legacy’).mp3 (http://www12.zippyshare.com/v/97841368/file.html)
It sounds like some part of "Legacy", but deeper / more slowly which makes it more sadly and dramatic! I really like this version. Is there a way to extract that Xbox App ‘Halo Waypoint’? (I want the original file, hrrr).
E: I meant Legacy, not Atonement!
Only the iTunes encoded version is available at this point…sorry. But glad you like the soundtrack!
I know… I’m super late to this party, but most of the links from the front page lead me to "Invalid or Deleted File" messages on Mediafire.
Are there updated links I can request to be shared, or PM’d to me?
Thank you.

(PS – I did pick up the link to infilltrator’s complete Halo 4. Thank you for that one!)

I’ll update everything once I get the chance, next week maybe.
Yeah, did someone get this soundtrack already?
It is on PC, so the sound track should be easy to extract and have ready faster then most halo titles. assuming that they didn’t use some ultra anti-l33thaxx encryption software to code all of it
The official soundtrack for HSA is released now! still suggest doing a game rip just in case theres unreleased tracks.

I just posted that link above yours. -_-;
My apologies that it is taking so long, but I wanted this done right.

For those of you with limited storage space/bandwith restrictions or just plain don’t care about FLAC, I added an edited version of the ODST game rip which was provided to us by Infiltrator.
It’s mp3, as usual, has additional info, tags, reworked filenames (not the track names) and all music has had a volume boost, no track will sound louder or quieter.
Be sure to grab it.
So your saying that the key to our salvation lies with the "Composer"?
:p. Hey OrangeC, thought you retired from the music ripping game?
EDIT: You need to fix the tags on Spartan Assault, All tracks say that they were composed by Martin O’Donnell & Michael Salvatori.

Already compiled, just run and load the two soundbank.pck and soundstream.pck.
Hey Einstein, this is nothing new here, since I posted it first some months ago and infilltrator already mentioned it, too (no offence!).
The original link at github is: https://github.com/amd7/composer
It’s a C# project.
H4 contains about 20.320 music files..it’s interesting to hear the voices isolated without the background music..

Hi, I think maybe uminoken can reupload these. I already contacted him.
Wern’t those released as apart of the Halo 4 remix contest? those songs were apart of the remixes that got chosen.
Also, I’d really like to hear this "Desecation" song.
Yes and no, I found the H4 lossless(!) remix stems here: Halo 4 Remix Contest – Stem Archive (http://halo.bungie.org/misc/halo4remixstems.html)
But for example the orchestra version of the To Galaxy stem is shorter than the one I mentioned above in my posting.
Like I said, maybe uminoken uploads these again soon :).
Here’s my version of "Desecration" which is longer than the one in DARTH’s complete album (game order version)..It’s 4:18 and his is 2:31 min.

also, any having album art?

Yes, he did create both .FLAC and HQ .MP3 versions, they are up on the site I linked.
No, there is no album art I believe. If you wait, I’m sure Joshua will create a custom album art for us. ๐

Well, the art is no problem since it’s done in the OP, but I am going to need some help renaming these tracks.
I won’t rewatch the mona lisa, no way in hell, not after those scenes where the flood throw the poor pilot into the protogravemind.

He wanted to know if the flac versions is made of the soundcloud-version. It seems so:
But now to the main point, I’ve taken the time to prepare all tracks on his SoundCloud for download & offline use in FLAC (Uncompressed) & MP3 (MP3-320).
But both wouldn’t make any sense, because soundcloud is only offering 128 kbps(!) mp3s throught their web player.
And I can’t register on this forum, so I could ask him, how he did the conversion (or why..).

I’m making some adjustments to the entire thread as well as reuploading everything again because why not?
As such, you should keep an eye out on the Halo 3 link, it’s no longer a direct link to the 7zip archives but rather the folder where I have everything stored for Halo 3.
All links have been replaced with mediafire folders instead, that way I don’t have to update the entire thread with new links but instead now you can just check the folders yourself and download accordingly.
Also updated the album artwork for most stuff.

Cool, I will keep an eye out: thanks for the work you do, it’s an amazing thing helping people relive nostalgic moments with these pieces of music.
Just checked the links for Halo 2 and Halo 3, still do not work ๐
Could you reupload them in an actual .zip format maybe? I don’t think the archive format works, it keeps telling me the file is messed up

WHAAAAAAAT…………????????? Their loss!
Also, in case this hasn’t cropped up before, I believe a tool called "Adjutant" is capable of sound extraction from Halo 3 & Halo: Reach, as it was used for these voice file extractions of GySgt Buck & Sgt. Maj. Johnson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcQ7pMYwDBc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgSomvWXfzA
You can find the tool here: Halo Maps Forum (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=41388)
Hopefully, that’ll come in handy for anyone attempting to extract the In-Game Music files for Halo: Reach (which I’d love to do myself to get the entirety of the sound files, but I cannot find a means to acquire the .map files without a modified Xbox 360).
As for the Halo: Evolutions Soundtrack I acquired (And you’ve got up there spreadin’ to the world!), it was rendered in FLAC Uncompressed & MP3-320 because I used FRAPS & windowed-TF2 to record the SoundCloud files (I don’t have the know-how to physically extract SoundCloud files that don’t allow download), and 320kps & 48,000hz was the quality of the raw recordings, so naturally, I felt no need to downscale and gave the opportunity to do so to anyone with the files in their hands. A question answered months too late perhaps, but answered nonetheless!
In the slightest chance anyone’s keen on FLAC (Uncompressed, Rendered at 320kps & 48,000hz), you can find the Halo Evolutions [FLAC] here (as seen in a previous post): Halo: Evolutions Original Soundtrack (http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=1189954#m_1189954)
The included wallpapers are official for The Return & Headhunters whilst the Mona Lisa I believe were YouTube snapshots I took as any media for that motion-comic is rather scarce (the soundtrack for all 7 parts cannot be found anywhere by myself), however I see you’re in no need of those.
Thanks again!
Also, in case this hasn’t cropped up before, I believe a tool called "Adjutant" is capable of sound extraction from Halo 3 & Halo: Reach, as it was used for these voice file extractions of GySgt Buck & Sgt. Maj. Johnson:

I’ve just found what I think is the newst version of Adjutant: Halo Maps Forum (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590)
I assume you’ve done this already, but just in case, you will need ToWav.exe for the sound extraction, which can be found here: Halo Maps Forum (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=42920)
I wish I had actual advice on the tool, but I haven’t even so much as tried the thing yet. Although with the links to the .map files you just sent, I might now get a chance.
Otherwise, I’m mostly spending time trying to use out-of-map tricks to manually record Halo: Reach & Halo 4’s Sound Assets. I’m also preparing what Halo: Spartan Assault Soundtrack I can into in-game loops, as the actual in-game music .OGG files were understandly compressed & of a less "purchaseable" quality. I’ll let you know if I turn anything up in the music department.

Actually that’s not the problem.
I managed to extract the music from mainmenu.map but I couldn’t extract the music from the intro/tutorial map (you know which one).
To extract the music, simply go load the map, go to the sounds tab and then look for the music tag which should look like this.
xxxx/sounds/music/loop/

I’ve been exploring the files with Adjutant. I’m having a lot of fun listening to the unused dialogue from ONI Sword Base. But I have also encountered some specific files that don’t extract.
At first, most of them were because I didn’t have the shared.map folder. I assume you’ve got this already for the games’ .map collection you have downloaded. I pretty much downloaded everything including Campaign.map just to be sure everything was together.
I’ve even gone into Options > Settings and set the sound files to batch extract as .WAV, but it is now I release that doesn’t bear much relevance to the fault at hand.
I’ve been encountering this error with such files as "sound/music/reach_menu/track/in" or "sound/weapons/sniper_rifle/sniper_fire_reach", that don’t playback in Adjutant or extract:
Error extracting sound\music\reach_menu\track1\in.snd!:
–Number was less than the array’s lower bound in the first dimension.
Parameter name: dstIndex
I’m not sure of the cause of this error. Perhaps it’s because I don’t have the sound.map file. If you have the sound.map file, but encountered this particular error, then all I can pin the cause upon is an error on the tool’s part or the file itself has some hidden programing behind it preventing the extraction. Hard to say. A man as completely lacking in familiarity & expertise with programming such as myself can come up with almost any guess.
EDIT: I have investigated the Halo Maps Forums, and the only assumption I can come to with the information I can gather is it’s a tag issue with the tool, and further sound extraction support continues to be worked on. Don’t take my word for it, for it’s just all I can make out from the many pages of modelling discussion, error reporting & frequent arguing.
However, if you’re encountering this error:
Error extracting sound\music\reach_menu\track1\loop.snd!:
–Raw data not found.
This is because the actual file is located elsewhere. I discover this in the Halo Reach Beta Files, where I would look at a file called "sound\music\alpha_main_menu\track1\loop" in 70_Boneyard.map, but the file never played back in preview nor extracted. However, when I found it in mainmenu.map, the file played back & extracted flawlessly.
I’m still finding my feet mostly with the tool, but in truth, I’m only encountering a few exceptions that don’t work. Most files I’ve found with Halo 3: ODST & Halo: Reach (still have yet to tread through Halo 3 & Halo 2, then get to grips with Halo 4’s differing system) have worked just fine in a particular .map file or more.

Also, lossless, but they’re small sizes per disc?
Also, lossless, but they’re small sizes per disc?
For your first question, they are both, rips and the official stuff.
And I don’t know where you got the lossless bit, these are mp3 releases.
Out of curiosity, what’s the kbps rate on them? I don’t seem them listed against all the tracks.
Out of curiosity, what’s the kbps rate on them? I don’t seem them listed against all the tracks.
Most are 320kb/s.
The only ones under 320 are the halo 2 rip, halo 3 rip and 2 tracks from halo wars which came from an old rip by oj simmdicks.

The link appears no longer active as of a couple of weeks or so ago. I cannot access their FTP either. Although I’ve managed to grab all of Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach (Beta, Stock & Noble) and Halo 4 (Campaign), I’ve still got a number of .map files to acquire, including Halo: Reach ( and Halo 4 (Multiplayer, Spartan Ops). Do you happen to have any information on whether they’re switching domain again or have simply gone down for an unknown reason? If not, than know of any other exisiting repository for Halo’s .map files?
Otherwise, I can report Halo: Reach is very rip worthy with Adjutant, with very few sound files unable to be extracted. However, Adjutant doesn’t seem to be updated to extract Halo 4’s music files.
Also, I must ask, do you or the "rippers" happen to have the original music files for Halo 1 & 2 before they were "OSTed", even now? I’m currently trying to build an archive for vid-makers to get their hands on Halo’s audio resources, and the original rip material would be a most useful resource.

They probably are changing domain again, same thing happened last time.
As for your other question, I’m not sure, I know alpha23 had an archive of CE and Halo 2 on rapidshare but it’s gone now that they changed some stuff around.
You’ll have to ask them when and IF they are still active on this website.
It has been written here like 3 times, but use the "Composer" tool from here:

Also I got to extract the Halo Waypoint App and got this new version of "Legacy" which can be heard in the background sometimes. It seems to be an unpitched version, I really like it.
The different part (compared with the original) is starting at 01min 12s):

(I converted it, WAV would be too big to upload with my slow connection).

The link he’s given you is my own indeed. They’re just a majoritive selection of tracks from the Soundtrack Album I was able to loop akin to their in-game equivelants (The YouTube Playlist can demonstrate the results). Unfortunately, whilst getting the music files from Halo: Spartan Assault is no difficult task in the slightest (Just a matter of knowing which folder the .OGG files are kept in), they are obviously downscaled to help maintain the game’s small memory size, and whilst quality remains very adequate, the difference between it & the Original Soundtrack Album is noticeable, making combining them a very difficult task!
If that doesn’t phase you however, I can send Halo: Spartan Assault’s .OGG files your way.

Thanks for the tool! Hopefully, that’ll come in handy when the .Map File Repository goes back up (I’m VERY eager to get the entirety of Spartan Ops).
And you were able to rip from the Halo Waypoint App itself? I never thought that possible! But I would like to ask you if you could infact reupload the original .WAV file. I’ve got the means to host it, and I have a friend who would be especially delighted to have this particular track.

Sorry for the late answer, I was very busy (and I still am) and didn’t look at the thread.
Yes, I extracted it from the Waypoint App myself :p
I’ll attach the WAV at the end of my how-to and also the tools I used (some were hard to get!).
But I don’t know (and I don’t think), if Microsoft included a wav of the song in the app (maybe it was just a 128kbps wma?). The WAV just came out of the extraction process, but that’s better than nothing and there’s no loss in quality. So if you aren’t even working for i343, you won’t get better quality so far ๐
Here is how I did:
The app itself is in the GOD (Games on Demand) format, like any downloadable game from the xbox store!
1. Backed up the Waypoint app from Xbox (usb stick)
2. USBXTAF: Copied it over to my pc with its 44KB ‘GOD container identification file’ from the usb stick.
3. Made an iso of the GOD container with GOD2ISO:
3.1Open GOD2ISO and click add next to God packages, browse inside your GoD folder you’ll see the identification file, a file like this D664F5CB98F39197BB933A8C2F510839 and usually 44KB or < 60KB (Don’t select the Data0001 files).
3.2 Select "Fix "CreateISOGood" broken header." This step is crucial. If you fail to select this option, you will get the error "Unable to obtain game info," "Not a valid Xbox 360 image," or "Header does not match Xbox 360 Images" errors when ever you load your newly built ISO into an extraction program.
3.3. Select the output for your newly created ISO to be saved, press "Go" and be patient. You can tell when the program is finished when the "Go" button and other buttons are lit up again and both green status bars are all the way to the right. This program doesn’t notify you upon completion for some rather odd reason.
4. Now I unzipped the iso again! Then you’ll have all waypoint app files in more or less "readable" format:
4.1 Open up the tool 360mpGUI (needs "360mpTools") and make sure you’re in the "Extract ISO" tab on the top left. Once you’re in the "Extract ISO" tab, press "Select ISO."
The two options highlighted below are optional. I’d always recommend selecting "Skip "$SytemUpdate" folder?" 4.2 The second option "Create Game-Folder," will create a game folder using the name provided from the .xex. Enabling or disabling this option is up to you. You can edit the game folder’s name with the box below labeled "Edit Game-Folder".
4.3 Select your output folder by selecting "Select Folder…"
4.4 Press "Extract ISO." Then give the program a few minutes. You will then be notified upon completion.
5. Now you can open the folder and search for the soundfiles (XWB soundbanks and the XSB which contain the filenames), for this app they were located in: \Halo Waypoint App extracted\static\sounds
(Of course you can use all the other files as well, like videos, pictures etc. from the app)
Here you go:
The tool xactxtract extracts .xwb files to valid .xwma files. You need xWMAEncode (part of Microsofts DirectX SDK) in order to convert xWMAs (there’s almost no player for .xwma) to "normal" .wav files. Just copy the xactxtract.exe and the downloaded xWMAEncode.exe into the directory with the .xwb files and type (command line):
xactxtract.exe -x2 *.xwb
This tells xactxtract to extract and convert all .xwb files in the directory. To be more precisely, xactxtract will:
5.1. create a directory for each .xwb file (e.g. for "MUS 420.xwb" a directory "MUS 420" will be created)
5.2. extract all .xwma files from the .xwb to that directory
5.3. call xWMAEncode for each file, i.e. all .xwma files will be converted to .wavs
5.4. delete all .xwma files (because they are no longer needed)
So in the end you’ll have a directory containing playable .wavs for each .xwb
BUT: Problem is:
The tool xactxtract was written only to use Little Endians!
“actextract: this initially didn’t work because Music.xwb is big endian and the program was designed for a PC game (which is little endian). “
The user Kaisonic (not from here) edited the source code and now you’ll be able to use Big Endian (tool is now named ‘xact360extract.exe’)!
Parameters are now: xact360extract music.xwb NameOutputFolder
So the "-x2" parameter isn’t used anymore!
And you have to do this for every single .xwb, there’s no batch processing anymore. But one could write some simple lines of code, which call this tool with the specific .xwb and the same output folder name..
Unfortunately the original songnames can not be recovered from the XSBs files:
"So far, the tool just extracts .XWBs and provides info about .xsb/.xwb. Inserting a cue (see explanation below) into an .xsb is difficult, because .xsb uses (among other obstacles) a hash function…and I don’t know, what this function looks like. But the good news is: extracting the Saint Row 2 .XWBs to .WAVs works (and therefor the subject/main question of this thread is solved)"
Tools used:
Download Extract Xbox Apps Multi Upload biz rar (http://multiupload.biz/dyx42n58t5nt/ExtractXboxApps_MultiUpload.biz.rar.html)
Legacy non-pitched waypoint version (WAV):
Download ‘Legacy’ (Unofficial Halo Waypoint Version) Multi Upload biz rar (http://multiupload.biz/2uuv9f07m7af/)
And what is the difference between files like:
musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01.wav
musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01_loop.wav
They are 1:1 the same…
musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01.wav
musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01_loop.wav
They are 1:1 the same…
"musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01_loop.wav" was rendered with "musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01_loopend" placed at the beginning with it, to make the loop totally seamless & mimick the actual in-game track, whilst "musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01.wav" begins as it does in the OST’s "Rising".
The difference is something you tend to notice when it’s not there rather than when it’s there, although the higher quantity of drums in the first beat of "musicGameplay1-1_RisingLegacy01_loop.wav" shouldn’t be too hard to spot (at least with my headphones).
Frankly, I’m surprised you’re not holding "musicGameplay2-3_Onslaught00" & "musicGameplay2-3_Onslaught00_loop" as an example, as although I did the same as stated above for "musicGameplay2-3_Onslaught00_loop", the difference is very hard to spot.
So whilst such examples may seem the same, they’re technically different in minute ways, so you can put them all together without even knowing they even came apart.

Speaking of Halo: Spartan Assault, if you wish to do a full In-Game Album for Halo: Spartan Assault, for you do have unique tracks such as "musicGameplay6-5_SadNoble01" & "Quiet Evolution/musicGameplay1-4_QuietEvolution01" (which surprisingly mixes well when rendered together with "Epic Revolution/musicGameplay1-4_QuietEvolution01" (http://youtu.be/S6g3tI-9yxU?t=1h3m52s)), here’s the file path to find them in the Steam Version’s game files:
32bit: My Computer > "[Your Hard Drive]" (C: in my case) > Program Files > Steam > steamapps > common > Halo Spartan Assault > Data
64bit: My Computer > "[Your Hard Drive]" (C: in my case) > Program Files x86 > Steam > steamapps > common > Halo Spartan Assault > Data
It’s only ???3.99/$4.99 & 1.6GB, so it’s no big expense.
BE WARNED: They’re not exactly high fidelity, as although they are 16bit 44,100hz, their downscaling for Halo: Spartan Assault’s small size is noticeable. Hence why I created what in-game equivelants I could using the Original Soundtrack (at least for those that weren’t in the Original Soundtrack in their exact same form).
Listen to it here (https://soundcloud.com/343ndustries)
Also I know you said these feature both the OST’s and game-rips, but just out of curiosity are they the full music rips? Or just the to tracks long or interesting enough to be a traditional song?

Complete rips, save for combat evolved and halo 2 which do not have the tracks from the cutscenes.

Hopefully, if it obeys the same game-filing system as Halo: Spartan Assault did, aswell as not compressing the music files as much, I’ll be sure to send them your way. If it’s just like Halo: Spartan Assault, then it’s more editing fun for me!
It probably uses the same encryption and compression as halo 2, so it SHOULDN’T be hard, the problem is getting the ripper.
Kept you all waiting long enough.

THANK YOU!!!! I NOW KNOW BASED GOD IS REAL!! also love the album artwork, haven’t seen it yet. Is it official?
The artwork, like in my other threads, is just me screwing around with photoshop.
I honestly don’t like the official covers for all the halo soundtracks and for the other threads I have, those albums have no official soundtrack either, so I did some for myself and for the shrine.

huh, sounds nice. I really like this one compared to the official artwork for it. Link to thread with custom covers please? And just wondering, who is "Halo Domain"? The artist listed in the soundtrack.
Halo Domain is an mp3 tag I use for sorting reasons, you can change it if you want.

The .ZIP contains every single piece of in-game music from Halo 2 (Xbox) in it’s purest form, as ripped by Alpha23 & converted from .LWAV to .WAV by myself. It does weigh heavily at 1GB, but with Audacity, you can put it all together as you like and render it in a smaller format of your choosing (The intro, loop & ends are all seperate files, so you can create 10hr loops if you ever-so strangely wanted too).
As for Halo 2: Anniversary, it’s a matter of waiting for people to get mod-cozy with the Xbox One or any rippers on the forums here to find out how to do whatever wizardry they do on the console.

Thanks for that! I actually started ripping the music from the game myself, but this will save a lot of time <3 I’ve been working on a complete soundtrack utilizing the old music and new music and music ripped from the game for the most complete experience. I intend to keep them as high-quality as possible. Probably FLAC.

This actually ins’t entirely true. I can name a few instances in which cutscene music is not present in the folder, but that’s okay, I ripped them myself easily enough. (Examples being the outro cutscene for Quarantine Zone and immediately after the music for the Gravemind encounter, and earlier, the outro cutscene for Oracle — these pieces of music weren’t in the folder, but can be found under the sound tag for their respective levels. The gravemind encounter music being sound\cinematics\07_highcharity\x08\music\x08_01_m us for example)
Wanna share the cutscenes music?
Preferably in flac/wav.
Better yet, tell me how to do it myself.

Sure thing ๐ As I own a Mac, my method may be a little unique. I use VMware fusion running Windows XP, and inside of that I use a program called ADI (http://ibotmodz.net/forum/files/file/5-adi/) to open Halo 2 Xbox Map Files, which is handy as is allows you to both preview and save sound files in lossless format. The sound files can be saved as chunks or sounds as either wav or wma with the Xbox ADPCM codec. However, I have not yet figured out how to convert these files to standard wav, so, I have a little cheat method instead. I use the program to preview these audio files, and, on my Mac, use a program called Audio Hijack Pro which snatches the lossless files as they play. It’s handy because no quality is lost in the process and I don’t have to convert the Xbox ADPCM codec. The only downside is that loopable files are no longer loopable as there is silence from when I press the record and stop buttons, but that’s an issue easily fixed with some Audacity magic called Zero Point Crossings. This method is probably pretty bad and sluggish, but it works perfectly fine for me and its what I am familiar with. As I said above I’m working on my own lossless Halo 2 Soundtrack, utilizing as much of the anniversary (because I really like the new music) and original soundtrack music as possible, while only relying on the game audio rips when needed.
I’ve included an image above of my workstation. To the left you can see Vmware running ADI on Windows XP, the bottom left corner windows houses the lossless "rips" from ADI, the bottom middle being Bizargh’s ZIP file, the bottom right being Audio Hijack Pro, and the middle being Audacity with a song I just finished using strictly gamerip sources. (In this instance, I had to rip some percussive music from the game because it wasn’t in the folder). The song is the beginning of Uprising. Loops of "Heavy Price Paid" with no piano, and an underlying percussive melody from "wage" with no strings.
To make things easier, tell me which cutscene music you need and I can send them all your way. So far, I’ve got 72 songs on the Soundtrack. Mind you, I’ve stitched together a few to save some that would otherwise be 30 seconds or less, which seems useless to me in terms of listening ๐
LOL, well I only need the spartan assault, and odst. In my opinion the best OST are on Halo 3, which most are remastered from 1 and 2.
The Halo 2 Anniversary soundtrack was released on both CD and Digital on November 11th. I have the CD. Trust me it’s not worth buying because it doesn’t even have half of all the remastered music on it.

Whoa whoa whoa wait wait wait. You’re telling me, that I have spent years & years trying to find a means to extract Halo 2’s Sound Data, going through various forums & dead ends like Gravemind 1.6. When all this time the tool which I used to swap my Warthog turrets during my Halo 2 modding days, could do this all along?!!
You’re a bloody Godsend mate!
Only if you can get your hands on unmodded campaign maps files, and a working map manager/editor for halo 3 like ascension, adjutant or composer.
I tried to, but the cinematic music ALWAYS gave me an error when I wanted to extract them.
-SNIP-
Thanks m8, luckily for me, I don’t have to do stereo mix recording as I can save the raw audio without problems and can edit it in audacity.
Only one problem I have is with the main menu music, but I’ll figure it out.

Xboxdb (ftp://publicftp.access.dyn-net.com/-%20XboxDB.com%20(READ-ONLY)/Xbox%20360%20Game%20Data/DISK/) (username: publicftp, password: password) has all the unmodded maps from Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and Halo 4, including campaign. Adjutant v2 rev3.5 (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590) (one of the few tools still updated) can extract most of the sounds from halo 3 and up, excluding cinematics and some other sound variables which are still a no go. It even exports and converts them to WAV PCM.

Glad I could help. My findings were the result of hours of research lol. There are some nifty tools out there if you look hard enough! I also had my run-in with Gravemind. I only stumbled upon ADI when I downloaded a Halo 2 Modding Tools pack. I chose to open ADI by random and, well, it worked!
OK I give up, I can’t get the main menu music to extract, checked all maps and none of them have it, including shared.map, singleplayer.map and mainmenu.map.
The main menu music from Halo 2?
Yeah, got all the music from the cutscenes and then some.
You got any luck finding it?
The main menu music from Halo 2 is comprised of six tracks including the Bungie intro.
1. Bungie Logo (beginning of "Prologue" from Volume 2)
2. Halo 2 (Choral) (Ending of The Last Spartan from Volume 1)
3. Remembrance (With Strings) (It’s not on Volume 1 or 2 that I know of, but the anniversary soundtrack has it, it’s called "Unsullied Memory")
4. The Last Spartan (Specifically 1:07-1:40, Volume 1, but the game version has just a timpani crescendo in the beginning, as opposed to the soundtrack version which has orchestral stuff backing it)
5. Heavy Price Paid (Volume 1)
6. Unforgotten (Volume 2)
Other than Remembrance (with strings) and the alternate beginning of the section from The Last Spartan, everything else is already on the soundtrack. I’ll have a look when I get home. However, I have a good idea that Remembrance (with strings) can be found in the Level Regret, as both the strings and non strings versions play while in the underwater elevator. You might fancy a look in that map ๐ (deltatowers.map)

WAIT, nevermind, I got it now, used another tool to extract the mainmenu music.
Ah, well excellent then. What tool?
It’s called Ambiance, a sound editor for Halo 2.
Well, my only trouble with Gravemind is that I run a 64bit system, and I’m told it’s not particularly favourable to systems not running 32bit. That and I don’t have Halo 2 [PC] nor any repositories storing their .map files. Which I hope to change, for despite my sheer enthusiasm at learning ADI’s got sound extraction, it’s somewhat lacking in getting the bundled !snd files like dialogue & weapons (As I’m interested in much more than just music), and also Ambiance can get much more, it’s quite topsy-turvy. So right now, I’m hoping claims that it won’t run on 64bit is wrong and Gravemind 1.6 in conjunction with a copy of Halo 2 Vista could at least pick up the slack, because Halo 2’s Audio has got a wealth of vid-making potential & enjoyable dialogue more people than myself can utilise. Plus, since Bulletstorm & GFWL proved a problemless experience thus far, I’m hoping Halo 2 & Gears of War could infact be so too, aswell as a good source of audio.
Thanks for the XboxDB link by the way! There’s a fair number of people who’ve been missing that. I certainly won’t delay in grabbing what I couldn’t before it last went down.
Not as heard in the cutscene, but there was a mix of it used for the Halo 4 Beta Build, and then the Master Chief Collection (Glad it made a comeback officially). I’m surprised it didn’t even make a mix in any of Halo 4’s official soundtrack releases. This for me is one of the real tearjerkers.
Here it is in a collection of menu themes for the Halo 4 Alpha/Beta as extracted by "Gamecheat13" (a Halo modder): http://www.mediafire.com/download/sfq1ki5x1gh5mr7/alpha_main_menu.rar
It may not sound that brilliant in quality, but that’s probably due to the sound compression 343 used. So many 7th Gen Console games/ports compromised their sound quality to shrink the memory capacity, as audio can be a very bulky thing (Look at Titanfall! 35GB/50GB of the PC release’s size was it’s uncompressed .WAV audio, but having every language VO contributed to that load. Lucky source modders & audiophiles!).
And before you probably ask, I don’t know anyone, or know anyone who knows anyone, who’s yet figured their way around the Xbox One’s system in order to rip or extract game data and/or sound, which is why there’s no "Halo 2 Anniversary: In-Game Soundtrack" or Master Chief Collection version of the music I sent as of yet.
Grab it while it’s hot.

Thanks! Just to clarify, are all three files there updated, or just the "02_H2_XRIP" that includes map files and ambience? ๐
Only 02_H2_XRIP is the updated rip, the rest are the same, only on their own 7zip archives.
Also, will it be possible to extact anything from the Halo 5 beta?
Also, will it be possible to extact anything from the Halo 5 beta?
Generally on the Xbox One front, I’m hearing nothing. It remains a nut people are still trying to crack in all regards as far as I’ve been informed. So I’m definitely not expecting anything from Halo: The Master Chief Collection, let alone the full game Halo 5: Guardians for a long time, especially if neither of them ever see the ever-more-desired PC Port (Which pretty much has the slimmest of chances of happening anyway, as even though Halo: Spartan Assault proved the Steam Community’s very enthusiastic to have Halo, I think Microsoft’s awfully keen to ensure their best card’s not being laid on other tables too quickly if at all) in which extracting it’s assets would presumably become more easier, quicker & desireable.
Latest I’ve heard at all is the tool I personally use, Adjutant, getting an update to support Halo: Anniversary & Halo 2 [Xbox] .map files for bitmap, texture and/or model extraction, or something along those lines at least. We have yet to see if they intend to expand that support that to sound extraction for them (It doesn’t seem as high a priority to them compared to getting the models & textures for Halo [PC] modding & Source porting for use in GarrysMod, Source Filmmaker, etc). Otherwise Halo 4 audio extraction with it still remains limited & unable to grab it’s music as before, and I certainly don’t know anyone having a go at ripping it through the various means I don’t know about or understand.
Right now, my immediate attention is drawn to Halo: Spartan Strike. As I’m presuming it’ll be close enough to identical to Halo: Spartan Assault on a technical level, I’m hoping I can just jump into it’s game files & grab it’s music files. If that infact does happen, I’m then hoping they won’t be compressed or at least as compressed like Halo: Spartan Assault’s, otherwise I’ll probably end up having the same fun editing what Official Soundtrack I can to match their in-game counterparts as higher-quality alternatives, then Fireseed having his fun making an album from it.
Bumping… no one else interested?
Nope, wasn’t released at all, like most of the music in Halo.
Daaamn…
Well, most of the legends soundtrack was incomplete. I think what he was asking if it was possible to get a dvd rip of the tracks?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bizargh, if you don’t mind I’m gonna break your post down so its easier for me to reply.
Hmm, so the same methods we use on the PS3 can’t be used on the XBO extractions? I was hoping that since it was all encoded in blu-ray it should’ve been an easier process since we have had that kind of encoding with the PS3 for a good while now. but I guess its different processes in how the discs themselves are locked and whatnot. either way, I hope somebody backs that H5 beta up! god the information we can glean from it later will be gold (esp. the music!)
I think it became possible for Halo 4 because I did see an OSV floating around sometime back, but it was incomplete something about the cutscene music being unable to extract. Joshua, do you recall this?
I’m glad that the old halo games are still being worked on in getting better extractions.
More or less with the PC/Steam release announced the files should be able to stay the same, I’d just focus on that for extracting and if there is anything left over from the Spartan Strike official soundtrack add it in.
Well, I honestly don’t know. I’m mostly more informed about the game modding scene (Which I’m hardly that well informed on to begin with), where I’m usually sharp eyed for Source-Ports & Sound Extraction. I’d imagine your guess in regards to disc or data-ripping is better than mine. All I know is, everyone’s still awaiting the day they can extract & modify the contents of their Xbox One games, and if they’re not, I certainly missed that memo.
As for Halo: Spartan Strike, I’m keeping my fingers crossed the music files don’t get shoved into an .FSB like most of Halo: Spartan Assault’s data was, otherwise whether I enjoy the music or not, it’ll be out of my reach.
Infiltrator made one.
How complete is that? because I remember some music being discovered after seeing that topic, not only that but Gamecheat13 released tracks from the Beta version of the game.
It’s a game rip, so it should be as complete as it can get. All the cutscenes have some SFX tho. There was no way around it. Do you have a link to the music from the Beta? I’ve never seen it here.
I’m looking for that one, too! (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/halo-4-complete-score-134343/2.html#post2878690)
I know… ah. But it’s the best we have for now. Thank you
The game is so identical to Halo: Spartan Assault, the music files were sitting in plain sight in the exact same spot. And the even better new is, this time they are not compressed to the point of distinct quality loss, so having to edit loops from the Official Soundtrack isn’t a necessity.
I’ll see about offering them to the collection, but if you can’t wait on my account, should you purchase the game from Steam (Which is going for US$6.00 or UK???4.79), here’s where to locate them: Your Storage Device (Usually C ๐ > Programs or Programs x86 > Steam > steamapps > common > Sledgehammer > Data.
Hey so wheres Halo 2 Anniversary’s soundtrack? Can’t find it on the front page.
Well, the Official Soundtrack is only available digitally via standard retailers such as Amazon MP3, iTunes & Google Play (thus only .MP3 formats to my knowledge), is professionally audio balanced, and includes numerous tracks & mixes unique to it (Especially one I adore; "Epic Evolution Reborn", an evolution on one of my favourite Halo: Spartan Assault themes).
The In-Game Music files are all 160kbps 44kHz .OGG files (And definitely higher quality then the noticeably compressed music of Halo: Spartan Assault), with a fair number of music tracks in their unmixed form & many designed to loop. Plus, they’re naturally balanced at a much lower dB for in-game audio balancing.
Hey so wheres Halo 2: Anniversary’s soundtrack? Can’t find it on the front page.
You’re not seeing it there probably because there really isn’t much at all missing from the Official Soundtrack release, and what little there is not in it can’t be acquired yet (Well, at least since I last checked). Plus, more importantly, I haven’t seen Joshua Fireseed active for a good while. Maybe someone else has & can infact state otherwise, but for now, I’m assuming he either won’t be returning anytime soon or isn’t in any rush to make any additions to the collection for any number of reasons.
So I would suggest going out & buying yourself a copy of the digital or 2-Disc CD album or taking a peak around here and see if anyone else on this site has provided it.
The only alternative I can offer, and forgive me if I’m "selling you what you already own", is all the Halo 2: Classic in-game music
No real differences from what I can tell, but grab both just in case.
As for H2A, the halo modding scene either doesn’t care about it or is more dead than the dead sea.
Hey Joshua, why doesn’t the redone Halo 2 rip sound as good as the previous one?
No idea, I did the extracting myself this time but either I missed something or something out of my control happened.
Btw, offtopic but who did the ID3 tags for your soundtracks?! "Halo Domain" for every singe track as Contributing Artist?!?! ugh that fucks with my OCD soo bad because thats the column you see right under neath or side to every track in any music player and I like seeing who is properly credited.
The collection I’ve got set up here should sort you out in that regard: Thread 193811. The tags have gotten a thorough treatment and when they don’t suffice, I’ve got the CD Booklet or additional information in a text file to accommodate.
Funny how much a CD booklet can tell you that tags nor most retailers will (Ex. C Paul Johnson, better known for Destiny, was involved in composing music for Bungie since Halo 3).
That would have been me.
I make and remake tons of playlists and having to deal with various composers who worked in different titles kinda complicates things when I’m in a pinch, so I just decided to give every single franchise I deal with an unique id3 tag.
You’re free to edit them as you like, I’m just providing people with the music, it’s not like I composed it or anything.
I’m not sure when the soundtrack will be releasing. Hopefully tomorrow.
According to Amazon.com, Sumthing Else Music Works just released the CDs for Halo Wars 2 Original Soundtrack (First time since Halo: Anniversary Sumthing released physical music for Halo) alongside Gears of War 4: The Soundtrack as well as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege & Steep’s soundtrack in the States. Amazon Canada & UK, the latter my region, list them as yet to be released on February 24th.
And since I’ve been certainly eager to get my hands on Gears of War 4’s soundtrack CD after numerous delays, especially as the only lossless release I know of was on Groove Music, I might as well fetch me a copy of Halo Wars 2’s music as well, even if any other CD rippers here are faster than myself.
And there ya have it. Go see him for his FLAC & ALAC formats: Thread 214969
I certainly hope that is not the case. He was a true hero back in the day and I still regard him as one. However, we must also understand if he can no longer dedicate his time to this.
As the Didact said, there is a time like this for all of us, and for Joshua, that time may very well be now.
