Watch this video and weep. If i’m short of money this year (and it’s looking likely), I’m probably just going to skip the 3DS altogether. Uncharted. Metal Gear Solid 4. Android game support. Backwards compatibility with current PSP games.

Wow, that’s pessimistic as fuck. The fact that Kojima is making a new game for it and Activison announcing a Call of duty for it as well, kinda prove that wrong off the bat.

He’s got a point. I think that they’re showing so many ports from the PS3 just to showcase it’s hardware. They’re going a bit overboard with the motion and touch controls, imo, but as long as they keep it optional (like most PS3 sixaxis controls), I can live with it.

Everything I’ve seen so far has been pretty impressive but I’m a little wary about the price tag which, considering the hardware is stronger than an actual PS3, I expect to be insanely high.

It is going to cost less than $600 USD, at least. They’ve also said the price will be in line with the current portable gaming market, so I’m betting it will be somewhere between $300 and $500.

Anyway, none of the games announced so far are all that interesting since they’re just PS3 ports. Sony have got lots of third parties on board this time though, so hopefully we’ll see a stronger launch than we did with the PSP. I am really excited about playing Monster Hunter with awesome graphics and two analogue sticks too.

Battery life is in line with the PSP3000 too, I’ve read. That puts it at having a battery life of around 4 to 6 hours, which is pretty nice considering how impressive the hardware is.

Even if it’s just ‘God of War 3’ to do….what do I care?

EDIT: The Library of this one will be better as time goes on, much like any Sony Console. And IMO they can easily develop great RPG’s & awesome Platformers.
No need to be negative about this Console, it certainly looks better that it’s previous incarnation, plus it has a classic design not the utter crap bullshit flexible PSPGo, that thing looks that it was going to break at the minimum damage.

Although the games were only in the tech demo stage at this point, the console itself is nearly a year away – considering most games have a two-year development cycle, they’re only about half-way done. The hardware isn’t quite as strong as a PS3 – it’s using a Quad-core ARM processor, which will be in line with what high-end Android smartphones will have by the end of this year. The Android support is actually what has me the most excited – it means that you will be able to run emulators on it from the word go without having to jailbreak, and people will be able to release NGP games on the Android Market without jumping through Sony hoops. It’s a remarkably open system compared to the 3DS, and I think that’s where we’ll see the most innovation – from the community.

I’m sorry, but where did you get that information? They are releasing the Playstation Suite, which will basically be a game store for android. Games released on Playstation Suite will also be available on psn for NGP but there was nothing said linking android with NGP, unless I missed something.

Look at the bar at the top, and the Home button icon. It’s definitely Android. Add in that they promoted the PlayStation Suite for Android alongside the NGP.

That doesn’t have to be android. Since when is the home button ever in the status bar? NEVER. Best not to assume anything, especially since android on the ngp would make piracy much more likely. With the recent cracking of the ps3 I’m sure sony is more aware of piracy issues than ever, so if they didn’t say it will be android it probably won’t be.
