I’ve read so many articles people bitching about how they want to get compensated for something they use for free (with the exception of Playstation Plus folk, but if you bought into that, you deserve to lose your money in the first place), and how they’re going to trade their PS3s for an XBox now.
I swear, gamers today are a bunch of whiney little bitches today. They’ve acted like life itself has stopped. More to life than video games, and if you love video games so much… go back and play some of the classic one player games that made video games so great.

It doesn’t really matter what the reasons are, they are bleeding player base every day the network is down. PS3 has been such a disaster for them. I consider it a joke on all the people who were declaring the N64 the end of Nintendo while humping their PS1s.

I just hope it’s sorted properly when it comes back up. My guess is we will still have random downtime for the first few days after it comes back up. Oh and PS Plus is actually quite good. You get some stuff off the PSN that regular users have to pay for, access to beta that others can’t get yet. Exclusive themes and avatars. Basically, it’s just added luxury that, if you can afford it, is worth it.
That wasn’t really what I meant, the point was that the PS3’s failure is kind of a mirror of the N64’s. Sony was dominant when they were planning it, but then it came out too late, was too costly, and had nothing to play for a really long time and by the time it did it was so far behind it could never catch up. Pretty much exactly the same situation.

It was way better if you didn’t like the current trends in gaming at the time and way worse if you did. "old school" people tend to love the DC like nothing else, but for people who were really into the PS/N64 era it didn’t have that much to offer. Overall though in terms of the amount of and variety of quality games on it for the cost of the system, I don’t think you could objectively say it was better than the PS, regardless of what camp you fall into. N64, maybe.

Well, I posted this thread before that press release about cc info being stolen was made public. However, before that, people were bitching for the sole fact that they couldn’t do online gaming… which was retarded to begin with. I will admit that after two weeks, it is starting to get a bit old not being able to do anything online, but I do hope this situation will improve Sony’s security guidelines and such for the future.
It’s funny how right before the PSN went down, I cleared out my cc and billing info from my PSN account. For some reason or other, they would not accept any of my cc info when I wanted to buy dlc for Marvel vs Capcom 3. It kept giving me some cryptic error I didn’t feel like researching, so I just cleared out my cc info and decided to buy a PSN Credits Card online at Amazon. Lucked out on that one, I guess.

Yeah, just read about that this morning actually. A lot of people are weary of getting the free subscription if it requires you to input cc information to get the free trial. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds and what other "freebies" they *may* include in this. Honestly, I say the best way to compensate folks is a $25 (or even $50, but that may be too far of a stretch) PSN Credit towards everyone’s account. I’d rather have that over a Playstation Network Plus subscription, but that’s just me though.

This is very unlikely. Sony would not roll out a new online security system for the PSN and immediately demand its customers to start paying for the service. That would be terrible marketing and besides, a good company would give proper advanced notice to its customer base before deciding to roll something like that out.

Some tend to look on the free PSN whatever, as a cheap move by Sony to try and get more gamers to purchase the PS3 and play, while others look on the Xbox 360’s subscription based online capabilities as that there’s less asshole gamers on that, as they won’t likely pay the subscription. Personally, both consoles online communities are both good and bad… saying that one is better than the other because it’s free, isn’t a valid reason either… as usually something which is free, ultimately has lots of problems which occur (like what is happening at the moment with Sony) and can generally take ages to fix. I’m not saying that the paid service of Xbox Live is any better either, as the November 1st update for the piece of shit Kinect caused multitude of problems for Xbox 360 users and took over a month to rectify the main faults… with another 2 months to sort out the smaller bugs which popped up. So both have the faults, and as a Xbox 360 owner, yeah I was pissed… however, my PS2 was revived (hence I’m not solely a Xbox 360 fanboy).

I had to pay for postage & handling… then a week later, was informed to ‘fully repair’ the TV, I had to pay them another $200.00, and then pay for the P&H back. Told them to keep the fucking thing and went bought a NEC Flatscreen HDTV instead. That’s the main reason I call Sony ‘Money grubbing whores’.

You should be a fanboy (actually, you should never be a fanboy) because you enjoy a game console and not the other way around. And it’s not like the fact you enjoy the 360 is the problem here. Seriously though, all joking aside: PS3 owners whine, but so does everyone else. I use Nintendo WiFi and Xbox Live, and I tend to get more upset with malfunctioning on items I paid for. Why? Because money is involved. As for PSN users, even if the service is free, it’s still a service and should be expected to work (someone said this earlier, I think… but I agree with them). In the end, we all have our right to whine…even if we’re not paying out of our pockets. It’s like having a promise broken.
