Anyone played the FF13-2 demo yet?

I have, just dled it yesterday and started playing. Pretty good. Details if anyone asks

Speaking for myself, I have no intention to return to the abomniation that is FFXIII… (I despised X-2 and that was a shitty sequel to a shitty game!) The FF series never needed sequels as the series creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, never intended for a FF to havea sequel. I bet he’s laughing at how far FF has fallen, now that he’s no longer at SE. Losing him, Nobuo Uematsu (who is now a freelancer and not solely emloyed by SE) and others, has hurt SE imo.

Also… I think this thread should’ve been posted in the FFXIII section Crysta, not in the General FF section.

Agreed; Sakaguchi’s legacy was tarnished, much as I do enjoy almost all that the series has to offer. The sequels are a bit (more like extremely) unnecessary, but some have been quite good, such as Crisis Core (IMO). I never thought any of the stories needed more expansion, especially IV and XII. Seriously, it’s like they just did it for the hell of it. A story as complete as FFIV needs no furthering :-/

well let the mods move the thread. As usual Revan i can always expect you to toss out some angst against anything that comes after FF5. I have liked a number of the Final Fantasy series. About the only game i really couldn’t stand was IX. The music was terrible and the plot made no sense, characters seemed cheap to me. I used to be a serious fan-girl of VII until the haters and the fanboys kind of ruined it for me. Which is why i liked Final Fantasy X so much. But enough on that, i really don’t care about the angst of the fan base enough to let it ruin playing a new FF game.

Firstly, I would expect a member who has been a member here for as long as you have Crysta, would know WHERE to make a post regarding a installment in the FF series. As XIII-2 deals with the universe of FFXIII, logic would dictate that this thread should’ve been posted there. Yet nowadays, there seems to be a extreme lack of logic on this forum.

I don’t think I’ve ever made mention in the time I’ve been a member here, that I like FFV! FFIV, yes. FFVI, Hell yeah. But FFV? Don’t think so. I’ve made no secret my disgust or hatred of the FF series after X (X, X-2, XII, XIII and now XIII-2), as in my opinion, SE has dropped the ball with all of them. XI and XIV, being MMO’s are a different kind of animal when compared to X and above. Of those two, only XI as any good.

I don’t see why people make comparisons of X-2 and XIII-2. I fell asleep on X-2 right when Yuna (Fake yuna i guess?) was dancing around in some sphere or something. Didn’t really touch the game after that. XIII-2 on the other hand made improvements. Caius seems like a great villain.

The music seems good. Although i’m a little put-off by the rap style boss music for the atlas battle. Caius is cool, I’m tired of long haired white guys as the main villain.

I felt the same about FFXII.
I went through all that against Split Infinity and his pals on Gamefaqs and it proved unproductive for me.
So I gave up arguing.I let people like whatever and dislike whatever and not bother to argue. The arguments are futile.

I agree the series has gone downhill but I expect to still buy it. Not that many jrpgs out there to choose from a anyway.

Also, I really liked the gameplay demo, but I feel like I will not like the plot… FF13’s plot was great as it stood and I don’t feel it needed much of a sequel if at all. They need to start focusing their manpower on Versus. I guess I will probably end up disliking it for what it doesn’t have (the original cast) than what it does >_>

I’ve been here far longer than you have Mercenary Raven and just like you, I’m allowed to say what I think of the next installment into the FF franchise, just like everyone else. The fact of the matter is, no game in the FF series needed a damn sequel as Hironobu Sakaguchi always intended for each FF game to be a standalone and complete game in it’s own right. X-2 and XIII-2 along with the whole ‘Compilation of FFVII’ weren’t needed and only came about AFTER Sakaguchi left SE and they felt the need to start tailoring the FF games for those who like flashy graphics and voice acting over quality gameplay and story. FFXIII’s story was boring and the characters were not likable, their plight and how it was described did little to evoke any form of emotion from me, apart from contempt.
