This is the 1995 expanded version from DCC records. Although it’s not the most complete edition, it has the full length version of Desert Chase, which was edited down to the original LP length for the 2008 indy soundtrack boxset. A personal rip from my collection, btw.

Oh, darn.
William
It’s incomplete (even the 2LP is), but at the time it didn’t feel like it. I believe most of us here already have it in lossless with scans and everything, but it’s a nice share anyway.
I don’t think this the 2nd best version… this IS the best version. The 2008 and the original 1981 are just to complete what’s missing…

if the 2008 had kept the full length "desert chase" and included the other 4-5 minutes or so of missing score, than it would certainly be the best.
i find the 2008 collection unforgivable. it should’ve been handled by intrada or fsm…mr. kendall would’ve made sure we got complete scores of the original 3 films.
i was so disappointed that they still haven’t released the complete end credits music from temple

If you are going to be re-ripping your collection you should use VBR V-0 ๐ It creates smaller files when dealing with music that has dynamic range like this release. Thanks for sharing this music though, a classic for indeed.
noted.
i just assumed 320 mp3 would be the second most desirable format, after FLAC of course
MP3 Debate: 320CBR vs V0 (http://www.head-fi.org/t/539748/mp3-debate-320cbr-vs-v0)
Yeah, when the music has dynamic range (like this album does, and any 90s horner score) you end up with drastically smaller files and still good bitrate. If you compared V0 to 320 for a heavy metal album you wouldn’t notice much of a change in size.

Aw shit almost forgot.
WHERE DA FLAC @?
I’m not so certain… John Williams has stated more than once that he has little desire to see any of his scores released in a complete and chronological fashion. The 2cd Original Stars Wars Trilogy sets come the closest. The 2008 Raiders release is also close. But look at this years 2cd release of Hook. Again, very close, but no cigar and that was put out by LaLaLand! The reason it still wasn’t complete (nor chronological) was because that’s not how the Maestro wanted it.
The only time he relented was on the 2cd Phantom Menace "Ultimate Edition" release. He agreed to let the entire "film version" of the score be put out… and he hasn’t stopped regretting it since. Hence no similar releases for AOTC and ROTS.
In other words, it’s not always up to the label. If Mr. Williams doesn’t want it to happen, it won’t… unfortunately ๐

I don’t blame him at all! If one takes the "Ultimate Edition" of Phantom Menace as a basis for what a "complete" release should be, I’d change my mind immediately about letting that sort of thing happen again…
Also, Mr. Kendall said in the FSM forum once that big franchises like this are very unlikely to be handled by the specialty labels. In the case of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Lucasfilm owns the rights and they go to the highest bidder. And also, when it comes to John Williams music, they usually rely on his staff to do all the work (transfers, remix, editing, sequencing and so on) and these people are not charging cheap for their services…

what i really meant to say was that i think, regardless of how complete it were, kendall or one of the specialty labels may have presented it better. the edits in the box set are poorly done on many of the tracks. tracks abruptly end, rather than flowing into one another in a fluid manner. i find the concord version almost unlistenable and prefer the older indy soundtracks and fan edits that have edited the concord tracks together. if it was williams’ idea to have the tracks edited and arranged the way they are, then shame on him, because he’s making it less enjoyable for many fans to listen to his music, regardless of what his vision might be

And yet Williams couldn’t prevent from Ben Burtt and George Lucas from butchering his score for The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones (in the case of the latter, they ditched music Williams had written for the arena battle and instead tracked existing cues from The Phantom Menace. Bewildering.). I thought the release of The Ultimate Phantom Menace was Sony’s decision and nothing to do with Williams at all? And that the reason we’ve not had "ultimate editions" of AOTC and ROTS was that The Phantom Menace ultimate score was so highly criticised.
BTW I thought the Desert Chase on the LP that was released at the same time as this CD was longer still? *looks on Wikipedia* Ah I think im thinking of Well Of The Souls Raiders of the Lost Ark (soundtrack) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raiders_of_the_Lost_Ark_(soundtrack))
No, I’m not trying to be sarcasic or anything, Jedisaurus. "Supertracks" had come out with a very nice, 2 CD set of Raiders that was JAMMED to the edges with very rare tracks and stuff like that, and I had heard about an extended 3 CD set that had come out, very clean tracks and alot of unreleased stuff. I was just hoping beyond hope that someone would/could post it somewhere here!
I currently have the 21 track, the 22 track, which are both about the same, and a 33 track version. I don’t have the 2 CD from Supertracks (Those were discs that have disappeared from my collection) or have I even seen the 3 CD version.
William
He didn’t compose music for the arena battle. Only for the monsters sequence.
6M1 Love Pledge
6M2 Entrance of the Monsters
6M2 Sweetener
Which is available in OST track 12 (Love Pledge and the Arena).
The rest is indeed tracked from TPM, mainly from the Naboo battle. Most of these cues weren’t even used in TPM. The whole Battle of Naboo sequence was re-edited, and Williams’ music didn’t fit the cut anymore.

do you have any more information on this
Neither of the marches comes close to 6 minutes in length though, so even if it includes one, what else is after it? How do I "recreate" it, in other words? Anyone have the LP or know? It’s not on youtube that I can find.
Edit: Actually, I suspect it’s probably the end credits suite, which clocks in on the DCC release at 5:21. Not sure what the extra 45 seconds are, but most of the track times don’t line up. The total "reconstructed" album I made is 40 minutes and change, instead of the 43 minutes listed on album sites for the Polydor release.

No–I don’t have the OST recording, so I was trying to recreate it based on the track titles. I have no idea what’s in it other than a vague recollection that it a) had the raiders march in it and b) that track listing time of 6:04.
I have the DCC 1995 disc (as well as the 5-disc collection set), which has just "End Credits" that omits the "Washington Ending," so I guess that’ll be the same thing? That’s what I’ve used anyway.
I know some of the other track times don’t line up with the digital versions, but it’s possibly a remastering thing.
Thanks for checking it out so closely. I hadn’t thought of looking at it in Audacity, that’s very clever.
