What is musically important about the stunning success of Alexander Nevsky is that it is a true collaboration of composer and director wherein the music became an organic part of the film experience.
Ironically, the best film score ever written was probably one of the worst ever recorded. Partly because Prokofiev decided to experiment with the industry�s new soundstage recording techniques, the soundtrack was a disaster.
Fortunately we have a modern reconstruction with state of the art equipment, reproducing the magnificence of �what is probably the greatest film score ever written.� From the St.Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of Yuri Temirkanov here is the first complete recording and a new 320kps rip of
