How do I beat the damn weapons? Anyone?

RUBY: i find it easy to put your strongest character in and have him junction and elaborate ploy of materia so that he is really strong and revives n all that, then when weapon takes out 2 of the players, make sure ur strongest one is in, (if its not then save and restart), Then when AND ONLY WHEN the ruby weopon has its hands in the ground, cast Knights of the Round with W-Summon and Mime it. (If you have KOTR levelled up enough then it should do 9999 each) after a few goes at that, hell be a gonner!

EMERALD: For this one, you need the underwater materia!, cant remember where you get it but im sure you already have! All i remember doing was KOTR and mime by another player, then the third player healing and casting wall. Sorry i cant be more help on this one!

I have never beaten Ruby WEAPON but Emerald WEAPON is fairly easy with the correct equipment.

To beat Emerald WEAPON basically you need at least two Mime Materias, the Final Attack-Revive or Final Attack-Phoenix combination and a Knights of the Round Materia levelled up to maximum. You will need loads of AP to do this, so try fighting some creatures called Movers in the Northern Cave. The Underwater Materia is helpful but it can be done without it. To get the Underwater Materia, use morph on a creature known as the Chost Ship in the Underwater Mako Reactor in Junon. This will give you a Guide Map which you can then exchange with the man in Kalm for the Underwater Materia, which removes the 20 minute time limit for the Emerald WEAPON battle.

If you have the Counter materia (a blue materia found in the Northern Cave — it’s in the room right after the slimy green stuff, found where there’s this gigantic light coming out of a hole), you can link it to Mime! >=] Every time you’re hit, you counter with Mime.
Link Knights of the Round to HP Absorb, and Final Attack to Phoenix, and I think you’re set!
Make sure Counter = Mime is placed before Final Attack = Phoenix.
That way, even when you die, you’ll cast Phoenix, and then counter with Knights of the Round. It works!! (You’ll only repeat Phoenix if you put Counter = Mime AFTER Final Attack = Phoenix). After this, though, you need to recast Knights of the Round…

Nope.

Well this is how I beat them.

RUBY WEAPON

Junction KOTR and HP absorb(paired) also put mime somewhere in the slots.Be sure that u have the greatest amount of HP (9999)Before u enter the battle kill the other 2 characters of your team.A fire armlet may come in handy.Ribbon is a must also.
When u enter the battle cast KOTR not to the Weapon put to it’s fingers.After that just keep pressing mime.

EMERALD WEAPON

U need the Underwater materia.Beyond that it’s pretty much the same.As for the Air Tam Storm,I’ve heard that it depends on the number of materia u have juctioned.For example,if u have 4 materia juctioned the damage will be 4444,if 5 materia 5555,if u have 9 or more it’s 9999.

weird, ive never known quadra magic to work with kotr?!? Though i could be wrong…

Basically, if you get a good weopon (like unltimate Weopon for Cloud) with joining slots, then slap on a shit load of combi magic, and just go for it! – Youll do it, u just gotta keep tryin!

As someone said…im sure theres a pretty decent guide on GAME FAQ for doing just this thing!

The only spell Quadra Magic doesn’t work with is KOTR…><
You can still W-Summon it, though.

Quadra Magic also can get a little glitchy when you use it with Ultima, or use it with a spell that’s also linked to All, or have Mega-All on…
If you want to use Quadra Magic, make sure it’s not your finishing move! It usually glitches and freezes if the enemy dies before four castings of an all-hitting spell.

And it killed all of its arm things.

But then it revenged stomped me and I died.

Well I’m about to post an unhelpful post, but.. I never beat Ruby either. I did beat Emerald and he wasn’t all that hard, but… ruby.. forgetaboutit

Someone told me to equip Final Attack with Phoenix, but that I found out that Final Attack was hard to get.

Then someone told me to not use magic until he shoves his arms into the ground.

But I still suck.

How’d you beat Emerald?

well…. this was before forums and what not, at least as far as I was concerned. Figure… 10 years ago was the last time I saw that green beasty.

I used alot of mimic W-Summon and KOTR… lots and LOOOTTSSS of KOTR. I also had done everything I could to ensure that I had all the limit breaks, so Omnislash with Barrets Catastrophe was quite helpful.

I kicked both Emerald’s and Ruby’s ass. For Emerald, I used the all lucky 7’s trick (get a character to 7777 hp, and go into a battle) 😛

For Ruby, I just used every single thing I could possibly throw at him.

I don’t get it though.

How can people level up so much?

The bosses, I find, give me the most experiance points.

But when people get KOTR, it’s usually at the end of the game, when there are no more bosses.

Northern Crater. Best place to level up.

To be specific, Magic Pots. Use the W-Item trick to get all the Elixirs you want, and level up at an alarming rate.

Hmm.

I tried that once, but then I couldn’t get back up the damn thing at the end.

Oh well.

It’s a theory I haven’t tested, but it’s supposed to work:

Required:
Mastered Command Counter Materia paired with Mime
Knights of the Round paired with HP Absorb
Enough HP and defense so you don’t die in one hit.
High magic rating (200+)
Ribbon

Optional
2 Knights of the Round Charges
W-Summon
Master Summon paired with MP Turbo

That sounds ..

It’s meant to heal you 9999 somehow and every time Ruby attacks Cloud will counter that with KOTR, cool huh?

You can beat Emerald w/out anyone ever dying and w/out using underwater materia in 5 min or so.

All char w/
master hp plus
counter <-> mime

And Cloud w/
4x cut
HP Absorb <-> master command
and Sprint Shoes

You don’t even need to use big guard or haste or anything.
By using mime over and over each round you get 8k hp back each turn. Just have Cloud 4x cut and then everyone mime after that. Don’t use limit breaks. Use mystiles, zeidrichs, and best weapons for max damage. I killed it w/ 15:07 on the clock. Less than 5 mins to beat him w/ Cloud, Yuffie, and Red.

Are you still stuck? Basically, being Lv.99 with all your party is extremely helpful as it means you don’t have to bother with HP Plus etc, so get more free materia slots. On Emerald equip as few materia as possible to defend against Aire Tam Storm.

For Ruby I finally beat him the other day using the following strategy: Cloud with the following equipment: W-Item, W-Summon, Mime, Knights of the Round (preferably all mastered) and an Enemy Skill with Big Guard on it. Set his limit break to Level 1 so he can use Cross-slash which will paralyse Ruby WEAPON. And as his limit is Level 1 he will get to use basically every turn.

It takes a hell of a lot of time but it does work eventually.

Also keep persevering, it took me about 7 attempts to beat Emerald WEAPON.

Back to the old saying, ‘it’s easy when you know how’ 😛

It would help a bit if you told us what you have as far as materia and ultimate weapons, lvls, etc. Maybe we could help you with a strategy based on what you have.

Yep agreed with Dostoevsky, if your materia and equipment is relatively sound we should be able to help you come up with a plan.

If not we can help point you in the direction of things you might need.
