Spells you’ve never seen before?

It’s amazing the things you notice when you replay. I haven’t given up GFs entirely, but I only use them occasionally, relying mostly on limit breaks. I’m on disc 1 (the beginning of the game is nice for Selphie’s limit breaks because you don’t have most of the spells at this point) and when I went to fight Diablos I ended up with a very easy battle. Selphie’s slot come up with "The End x1." I’d never heard of it before, figured it would be one of those "count down" spells that never work, but I cast it just to see what it would look like. Next thing I know Diablos is in a peaceful field surrounded by flowers and butterflies, the words "the end" appear on the screen and he dies.

SHOCK. 😮

I’ve never seen this spell before! Where do you draw it?!

I’m only hazarding a guess here, so I’ll wait for someone else to confirm or deny my suspicion, but Selphie has SOME spells that she can use during her limit break that aren’t available to be drawn. The spell you describe sounds like one of those particular spells. Another one is Rapture, and a third is Wall. (My memory of the game is sketchy at best, so the names may not be correct.)

I’ve never come across this particular spell in any game though, so it sounds like Selphie’s a well developed character in your current play through.

It’s not a drawable spell. It is just her limit break. Whoa, I can’t believe you got it… just like that. Do you know how hard I have tried to get that!? Click click click click… nope. It’s usually really hard to get it. I have never ever gotten it yet. Get it now? So, Selphie will always have "The End" but it’s pretty rare….

Edit: Bahamut posted before me, so I’ll just add this on… I think the higher the level Selphie is at, the more spells she gets. I’m pretty sure that is how it works.

wow the end is the best limit break in the game and the most rare to get i remember diablos being really hard to fight i never even seen that limit break thats because i didnt use her

Why dont you mention Apocalyse? It’s the spell the final boss uses. It’s pretty rare.

ive only got it twice, but ive never been able to use it. the first time i got it i thought it was like cait siths limit where everybody dies, and i hadnt saved for about 5 hours so i didnt wanna risk it. the second was against ultemicia and nothing happened. also ive accidentaly flicked past it a few times. sucks when that happends eh?

I’ve never gotten rapture i’ve seen my friend use it but i have never used it………i have never seen the end or apocalypse

The End can be used on bosses. Hehe, it would be great if you got it on Omega Weapon.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Yes, it does work on Omega Weapon, and I got it first time Selphie had a limimt break when I was fighting him. 🙂 Although I went back and did it again properly afterwards.

The End doesn’t work on all enemies; it has no effect on Undead enemies for some reason.

Rapture is similar to The End, but doesn’t work on bosses, nor does it work on Grats, Tonberries or Cactuars.

The other magics that only Selphie can use are Full-Cure and Wall. Full-Cure fully heals your entire party, and Wall casts Shell and Protect on your entire party. There were also two other magics, Percent and Catastrophe in the Japanese version, but these were never put in the American or European versions.

You should get Full-Cure quite regularly right from the start of the game. Wall and Rapture may appear quite early on too if you’re lucky. The End doesn’t usually appear until nearer the end of the game.

There are certain ways in which you can improve your chance of getting limit breaks such as The End:

~ High luck stat.
~ High level.
~ Selphie is low on HP
~ Both other characters are KO’d
~ Aura status
~ Selphie has been affected with multiple negative status changes.

So, for example, if Selphie is at level 100 with a luck stat of 255; she has 1HP and the other two characters are dead; and she is also affected with many negative statuses and has Aura, she should get The End every time.

This works in a similar way for the other characters. Squall is more likely to get Lionheart; Zell and Irvine get more time; Quistis’ attacks do more damage; and Rinoa is more likely to get Wishing Star or Invincible Moon. 🙂

I found Diablos really easy to beat 😀

Well, one of my mates- who has the European version- got those 2 spells by using a gameshark. He also got 99 The End spells, and 99 Rapture, Apocolypse, Wall, and Full Cure spells. He also got 99 spells called "Pandemona" But the game crashed when he tried to use them.

Yeah my mate got an cheat cartridge (can’t remember what it’s called), we did all that (The End looks shit by the way), we tried to summon Quezacotl as a magic, but the game froze and Qustis just kept on shaking her head with her arms by her head!?!

I’m not quite sure about the end, but i’ve heard that it can kill any boss ecept undead cretures, and the last couple of fights write at the end of the game:D

Selphies limit has 4 special spells. Fullcure and The Wall are quite common. Rapture is very hard to find. The End is almost impossible (i havent found it yet).

Fullcure cures all health and status.
The Wall adds Protect, Shell and (i think) reflect.
Rapture will kill all enemies except bosses and flying enemies.
The End will kill everything no matter what. it is the most powerful attack in the game.

Pandemona can be drawn from the final boss and can be cast. However, you can only draw it, not cast it. I think.

Rapture attaches wings onto the enemy and pulls them up out of sight, i had that one about 3 times, but i thought it only killed 1 of the enemies =/

i had wall once and full cure a few times, and i flicked past "the end" about 3 times, as did my friend and we never saw it. I hear it looks the same as devour

Not a spell, but here’s something else I picked up on while replaying. (well, I had to have seen this the first time but not knowing who the "captain" was it wasn’t as funny.)

BTW, what’s a jet engine? I just did the CC quest and I noticed a rare type of high-level card that refines into a jet engine if you have 40 of them. Is it worth trying to get 40 of these cards?

I have seen the end to many times and my friend teases me with it because he has the gameshark and I don’t cheat so I never used it but I ‘ve seen it performed.

Fujin the jet engine is okay, but it doesn’t seem to be worth it, only if you have an excess of those cards.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">A Jet Engine teaches a GF Spd=20%. It’s not really worth getting considering the amount of cards you would have to collect to refine into one (40), considering that 2-3 GF’s can learn Spd+20% naturally anyway. Cactuars can also drop Jet Engines rarely, but I think they have to be between level 20-30.

Edit:hi there your selphie is doing well to have that spell that soon in the game, the secret to these types of spell are simple!
selphie starts doing this quite often after you get to level 20+
after this when you enter a battle cast aura on selphie and when you attack starts just keep usin the command "do over" keep doing ths and you can use the end loads of time but only a go at a time, i also find here other spells usefull such as wall and the most usefull spell i think especially during bosses is the fullcure
spell this saves your magic spells and is awsome! 😀

The End is easy to get for me. It doesn’t work on Omega though. That would be kewl.

this is 1 of 3 limit break magics used by selphie, and only in her limit break. as it is so powerful, it is very rare.
another is rapture, which kills 1 monster, and doesn’t work on bosses.
the last is wall, which protects all party members with various good status magic

i used the end to destroy diablos but i knew it was only avaliable to selphie cause when i looked at her status then her slot it showed wall rapture and the end

i never used Selphie that mutch to see her do the limit break the end:( gonne try… thou i`ve seen it before at a friends place.
