Thankfully, before the hacking, my FFX Rumble was only a few days old. Still, I’ll have to start up again from scratch. Remember, feel free to express why you made your decision and please put your actual answer in Bold or Underline. I will update this post after each battle and victors will be in Bold. Now, we’ll start with Boss Battles.

FFX Overdrive Rumble
Round 1
Spiral Cut vs Oblivion
Shooting Star vs Doom
Diamond Dust vs Elemental Reels
Self-destruct vs Thrust Kick
Fury vs Blitz Ace
Zanmato vs Status Reels
Mighty Guard vs Thor’s Hammer
Slice & Dice vs Trio of 9999
Requiem vs Supernova
Grand Summon vs Mega Flare
Tornado vs Bad Breath
Delta Attack vs Banishing Blade
Nova vs Energy Blast
First up, we’ve got:
Sinspawn Ammes (The first boss that you fight in the game, he’s not much of a challenge due to the fact that he only uses Demi and Auron’s newly available overdrive comes in handy.)
VS
Spectral Keeper (The confrontation takes place on a unique battlefield. The Spectral Keeper is surrounded by six fields, three of which are occupied by your active fighters. This strange enemy can prove a challenge if you do not quickly master the field movement.)
My vote goes to Spectral Keeper because I enjoyed the change of battle turf.

Okay, let’s get the results in:
Spectral Keeper – 10
Sinspawn Ammes – 1
A one-sided battle with little suport for the first boss in the game.
Next up, we have:
Omega Weapon (Although Omega Weapon’s HP is extremely impressive, his fighting skills are not much to write home about.)
VS
Sinspawn Geneaux (His tentacles can intercept spells directed at him and his shell aids him against physical attacks, making him a worthy foe.)
Begin the battle!
I’ll vote for Sinspawn Geneaux because I was very unimpressed with Omega Weapon.

Ok, in situations like this, the last vote made will count as two, and Auron’s Ghost voted for Omega Weapon, so Sinspawn Geneaux is out.
Next up:
Geosgaeno (This beast is fought twice at Baaj Temple. The first time, he’s easily defeated by Tidus but the second time you take him on with Wakka and Rikku too, and he’s alot stronger.)
VS
Dark Yojimbo (A deadly foe who’s Wakizashi and Zanmato attacks can inflict 99,999 damage to each of your characters!)

Dark Yojimbo – 9
We’ve got another draw, and the last vote was for Geosgaeno, so the first Dark aeon goes out.
Now we have,
Chocobo Eater (The result of this battle is unusual as either you or the enemy can be pushed off a cliff. A fairly hard battle considering the stage in the game.)
VS
Oblitzerator (With 6000 HP, the oblitzerator is a hard nut to crack. However, the ability to use a crane to aid you halves the difficulty.)
Begin the Battle!

Seymour Omnis (In this final confrontation with Maester Seymour, he certainly has changed. I’d have to go with Santctuary Keeper even though the Wendigo caused me more trouble the first time through. I NOW realize though that the Wndigo is easy to beat if you know what strategy to use to beat it. wtih the Sanctuary Keeper, casting reflect on him will stop his curaga but you still only have aeons for one attack and can put curse on your party, as well as confusion.

good match. I’d say a berzerked Wendigo (like the one you fight) would beat the Sanctuary Keeper, but a normal Wendigo would lose to the Keeper.
I know he’s going to lose, but I vote for Wendigo because I’ve always beaten Sanctuary Keeper on the first try, but Wendigo boss has a lot more HP than expected, and he’s a whole lot stronger than the characters at that point (in my game anyway).

I’m going to vote for Yu Yevon, and I suspect my reasons for it may convince at least a couple others to change their votes.
Yu Yevon can simply be disregarded as a final boss and regarded as merely another plot point. It’s largely the same kind of situation as the last encounter with Sephiroth in FFVII, so it does have a precedent, even if a very lame one.
Penance, however, is an utterly pointless boss that served no purpose at all within the game’s story and requires you to level up absurd amounts to be able to beat it. And the only way to level up? Grind. Fight random encounter after random boring encounter until you finally get far enough through the sphere grid to attempt the battle. Grinding sucks in console games, and any game that forces it on you for any reason loses points.

I’m going to end this early because it’s just becoming another Dark Aeon bashing.
Anima – 16
Dark Magus Sisters – 6
Next up:
Dark Ifrit (Ifrit’s the last Dark Aeon in this competition, just to say. He’s an extremely strong opponent and counters all attacks but he’s going to be knocked out anyway.)
VS
Seymour (Seymour first appears flanked by two Guado Guards which will heal him. He’s not much of a challenge at first but after Anima is defeated, you’ll have to battle him again. He’ll be fully healed and this time he’ll use multi-elemental spells. These spells can prove troublesome as they kill off two of your characters in one turn. The only real way to survive is Yuna’s nul spells which protect from elements.)
Fight!
I’ll vote for Seymour because I was completely underwhelmed by Ifrit.

I hope the rumble manager doesn’t mind if I interject for just a second here this one time — while normally I’d agree with what’s said about the pictures, I myself am on 56K and have not had any problems with them. I checked the filesize and they’re not really any larger than the average signature here. I haven’t really noticed any increased load-time at all with the pictures. So for my two cents, I personally wouldn’t mind if they stayed, although I suppose there is somethign to be said for simply linking to it. Quite a battering.
Last battle of Round 2:
Seymour (Seymour first appears flanked by two Guado Guards which will heal him. He’s not much of a challenge at first but after Anima is defeated, you’ll have to battle him again. He’ll be fully healed and this time he’ll use multi-elemental spells. These spells can prove troublesome as they kill off two of your characters in one turn. The only real way to survive is Yuna’s nul spells which protect from elements.)
VS
Seymour Flux (Seymour’s third form can prove to be a tricky battle. He’ll use extensively annoying moves such as Zombie status infliction, followed by full-life. He certinly looks the part and, as Bryan wisely said, he is, quite possibly, the toughest mandatory battle in the game.)
Fight!

Anyway, the first battle is to be:
Tros (Although a seemingly pathetic boss, he has reached quite a high level in the Rumble. However, he has come up against a Dark Aeon and Penance, which don???t prove to receive much support. Let us see how he fairs here.)

Yunalesca will have to battle again due to our odd numbers meaning that next up we have:
Yunalesca (Yunalesca was once a boss that never seemed to have much support but always came up against more loathed bosses. That is, until she fought the popular Evrae and pulled out a win, now she’s set for a Final place, only Crawler stands in her way.)
VS
Crawler (Crawler always seemed to have a crowd with mix opinion; some disliking the over-rated boss, others finding him quite a challenge. Now he faces his hardest battle yet. Will he secure a position in the Final? Or will he just be ‘Third place’?)
Fight!

Yunalesca destroys another opponent on her way to the Final.
Now, fellow FFShriners, our greatest battle yet is upon us:
BOSS CATEGORY FINALS
Yunalesca (This tough bitch has clawed her way to the Finals and is set for a fantastic win or an honoured loss. let’s take a look at her journey here:
Yunalesca vs Omega Weapon
Yunalesca vs Nemesis
Yunalesca vs Evrae
Yunalesca vs Crawler)
VS
Chocobo Eater (I have to admit, I am pleasantly surprised that CE has made it this far. This truly excellent FFX Boss has a hard Final ahead of him, but he won’t go down without a fight, just like he hasn’t so far:
Chocobo Eater vs Oblitzerator
Chocobo Eater vs Evrae Altana

Actually, I like the idea of Overdrives. I don’t think that’s been done for FFX yet.

That was the original FFX Rumble.
Also — Thread 8723 — That was the original original FFX Rumble, but it didn’t last long at all.
Incidentally, Yunalesca was the winner of the original FFX bosses rumble. She very nearly won it again here. I guess sometimes taste can change, but not by much.

Spiral Cut (The first overdrive of Tidus where he takes an athletic run-up before bringing down his sword in a swift vertical motion.)

Spiral Cut, cause Oblivion wasn’t particularly special by the point in the game you can acquire Anima, especially compared to the attacks of the other hidden aeons.

I’d say Oblivion. Going into battle with Yuna / Anima with their overdrive gauges already at max can help shave of a decent amount of your enemy’s HP. Can be handy sometimes in the monsterarena.
Spiral Cut As Oblivion just annoyed me beyond belief and I rarely used Anima even once I had got her. I prefered other Aeons a lot more.

Sorry guys, but as you’ve probably noticed I don’t have much time for the Shrine and the Rumble these days. Would someone mind taking over? Preferably the regulars of the Rumbling world i.e. Prak, Diablo, OSFM, Agent, etc. The list for this Overdrive Rumble is on Page 30, updated with winners and losers. The entire FFX Rumble is on Page 1 with each battle.
Sorry again.

Who’s taking over? I have an assload of freetime *hint**hint*

Agent0042 does not have time to take over. Smarties, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be a great choice to run a rumble.

We’ll wait to see, I will graciously walk aside if the preferred ones step up to the plate.

Well, I don’t know how much interest Prak would have in running this rumble. Have the other two that were mentioned even been around lately? It gets so confusing with all the names being changed, I can’t keep up.

I see Diablo post almost daily and Osfm/Xander is now Gummi bears, and I haven’t seen him post in about 3 days. Plus Xanders already running a millionaire.
Bryan’s still running the X-2 rumble I think, I guess it’s mostly on Prak.

Oh yeah, that’s right. OSFM = Xander = Gummi Bears
And yeah, I don’t know. Gummi Bears is actually running two Millionaires plus a rumble. He has his hands full.
I suppose Prak — if he wants it?

Umm Question I haven’t seen Prak post in a while or is it just me?

Nah, Prak’s around as far as I know. I just don’t think he visits this thread regularly.

Give it a day. If no one shows any interest, Smarties seems like a wise choice.
Indeed Xander does not want another rumble to look after. But Smarties does seem like a good choice.

I’m not interested. I already have one rumble to keep up with.

Well it’s conclusive, I will update rumble when I get home. At school now.

Great! We’re looking forward to it. You might want to consider starting it a new thread. That way, you have better control over the updates.
