Round One, Battle One:

29. Beclem: He is sent to Besaid to train the Aurochs, he is stern and unforgiving. He is also strongly anti-Yevon and ruffles Yuna’s feathers on more then one occasion.

6. Le Blanc: Leader of the Le Blanc, syndicate, she is a total nuisance to the Gullwings. She is totally bessotted with Nooj. Her henchmen, Ormi and Logos, faithfully follow her.

A tight one that, Beclem had decent support, but Le Blanc moves on.

Round 1, Battle 2:

32. Garik: A powerful Ronso warrior, he is determined to exterminate the Guado as revenge for the atrocities of Maester Seymour 2 years ago.

22. Isaaru: Now working at the Zanarkand ruins, Isaru seems to be in the middle of a dispute with his brother Maroda, throughout the game.

Oh dear, total lack of votes there. Granted, two uninspiring characters may have been a factor in this.

Round One, Battle Three:

7. Ormi: One of Le Blancs hencemen, he is very loyal and faithful to her all throughout the game.

13. Gippal: Head of the Machine Faction and former trialist for the Crimson Squad, Gippal has a large influence over Spira. A friend of Paines, and also it is implied himself and Rikku were an item in the past, although this is never stated exactly.

To my considerable amusement, Ormi wins! Although a low number of votes again.=/

Round 1, Battle 4:

8. Logos: Le Blanc’s second henchman, he is every bit as loyal as Ormi. However, he turns out to be quite the perv.

28. Maroda: Brother of Isaaru, he is a member of the Youth League and is a fairly minor character throughout the game.

Fight!

As expected, an easy win for Logos. He moves onto Round 2.

Round 1, Battle 5:

21. Lucil: 2nd in command to Nooj in the Youth League, Lucil is a strong, determined woman and a pretty neat NPC.

3. Paine: A member of YRP, she is a girl of few words. She opens up a bit more towards the end of the game however. She was once friends with Nooj, Gippal and Baralai.

Fight!

Paine, as expected moves on. Shame for Lucil as she could have gone far with a kind draw.

Round 1, Battle 6:

17. Shinra: A total wunder-kid, Shinra astonishes us all throughout with his incredible intelligence. However, when he does screw up, he plays the ‘I’m just a kid.’ card.

20. Clasko: A pretty pathetic guy, his neediness got on my nerves more then once in the game. He runs a Chocobo farm inside the former Monster Arena.

Fight!

Shinra moves on, but the expected slaugther never happened, with Clasko getting a suprising number of votes.

Round 1, Battle 7:

18. Barkeep: Works on the Celsuis, he allows you to sleep and buy items. A female friend turns up later to ‘assist’ him.

15. Buddy: A member of the Gullwings, Buddy is cool, calm and collected. He is also a good friend of Brother, who he helped find the Celsius.

Fight!

Once again a low number of votes, although hopefully the numbers will increase in the later rounds.

Round 1, Battle 8:

27. Yaibal: A fairly uninspiring character. He is a member of the Youth league. If you give the sphere you steal from Killika temple back to New Yevon, he attacks you once you return to Youth League headquarters.

4. Shuyin: The main villian of the game, he is determined to use Vegnagun to extinguish all life on Spira. His despair and rage of being unable to save Lenne, and the slaughter of Zanarkand by Bevelle in the Machina war, is so strong, his spirit remains and possesses(sp) several characters throughout the game.

Improved number of votes there, keep it going 🙂

31. Ayde: One of two young Ronso, who leaves Mt.Gagazet to find try and find Kimahri’s horn.

1. Yuna: The main character of the game, Yuna has changed quite a lot since the time of FFX. She clearly misses Tidus terribly and all throughout the game thinks of him

16. Brother: Older brother of Rikku, he is the manical leader of the Gullwings, he is also, much to my disgust, in love with Yuna, who is his cousin.

30. Lian: The second of the Ronso children to leave Mt.Gagazet in search of Kimahri’s horn. He is always with Ayde all throughout the game.

This was a close battle, it was neck and neck right up til the end nearly, but Brother got some late support and pulled away.

Round 1, Battle 11

11. Lulu: After the events of FFX, Lulu has settled down with Wakka on Besaid Island. She is in the advanced stages of pregnancy at the start of the game and in Chapter 5 gives birth to a boy, Vidina.

2. Rikku: Member of the Gullwings, and sister of Brother. She is energetic and quite daft all throughout(I’d call her an airhead). She still cares deeply about her cousin Yuna.

Remember, you are voting in this rumble on the strength of what the characters are like in X-2, so don’t vote because you liked said character in FFX.

26. O’aka: He runs a chain of shops around Spira, however, he has encountered debt problems and is being chased by Al Bhed creditors.

23. Dona: A former summoner and partner of Barthello, and member of the Youth League, they are at loggerheads for much of the game.

Round 1, Battle 13:

12. Nooj: Former trialist to the Crimson Squad, he is now leader of the Youth League. He is also a friend of Paine, and is known to be a ‘deathseeker’.

25. Rin: Former owner of Rin’s Travel Agency, in which branches were found all over Spira. He is now to be found around the Mi’Hen highroad mainly, carrying out an investigation to the malfunctioning machina.

I must say, thats amazing, a total whitewash, in favour of Rin. Unbelievable.

14. Baralai: Praetor of New Yevon, and former trialist for the Crimson Squad, he is also a friend of Paine’s. He is unfortunate enough to be possessed by Shuyin quite early in the game.

10. Kimarhi: 2 years on from being Yuna’s loyal guardian, he is now the Elder of the Ronso. He desperatly struggles to contain the Ronso bloodlust for vengence against the Guado, throughout the game.

Kimahri was basically a non-entity in the game, standing around helplessly while Yuna saves the day for him.

Kimarhi is a bad cross between Cid Highwind and Red XIII.

You could at least get the name of the person running the rumble right before you try to be a smartass. :rolleyes:

Round 1, Battle 15:

19. Cid: Father of Brother and Rikku, he is more suited to replace Jack Lemon is ‘Grumpy Old Men’, as he is often quarrelling and in a bad mood.

24. Barthello: Lover and former guardian of Dona, he has stayed loyal to Yeovn and this causes him and Dona to be at loggerheads all throughout the game.

Easy win for Barthello, Cid never got close to him.

Round 1, Battle 16:

5. Lenne: Partner of Shuyin, they are doomed to a tragic fate. However, her spirit lives on in the Songstress dressphere, and at times in the game, overwhelms Yuna.

9. Wakka: After the events of FFX, he has settled down with Lulu on Besaid Island, he is eagerly awaiting the birth of his first child throughout the game.

2. Songstress: An intresting dressphere, this enables you to cast status effects while you dance, it also ties in with the storyline rather significantly.

5. Black Mage: Spell-casting dressphere, obtained upon completing the mission in Zanarkand in Chapter 1.

1. Gunner: Yuna’s default dressphere, and a pretty neat one at that. Several devastating abilities can be obtained, espically if you use the Cat-Nip accessory.

11. Lady Luck: Obtained by beating Shinra in the Sphere Break tournament, this is quite an intresting dressphere, that like Gunner, has several potentailly devastating techniques.

9. Dark Knight: Probally my personal favourite, obtained in Bevelle, this is a very powerful dressphere, which also boasts high defence, HP and Strength. Pretty much essential.

15. Floral Fallall: Yuna’s special dressphere, obtained at Mushroom Road, natrually, it possess several devastating attacks, and combined with an intresting ‘transformation’ for Yuna(she basically becomes a giant flower), it makes for serious trouble for your foes.

I really thought FF would put up more of a fight then that, Dark Knight very easily goes through.

10. Beserker: Obtained by saving the Travel Agency in Macalania in Chpt 3, Beserker gives the choosen character a very feral look, and with some intresting attacks to boot, it is one of the better dresspheres.

13. Mascot: Obtained from Barkeep in Chpt 5, this dressphere gives you choosen girl a companion which performs all sorts of strange attacks. Not a hugely powerful or useful dressphere, but intresting nonetheless.

Where as the Berserker looked good, Had some good attacks, and was a hell of a lot more interesting imo.

4. Warrior: Paine’s default dressphere, and a pretty powerful one at that.

16. Full Throttle: Paine’s special dressphere, obtained in Macalania, like Florall Fallal, it is pretty crazy looking, and likewise has some pretty powerful and impressive attacks.

P.S.: I wrote earlier that I thought it was the most powerful dressphere. That was a mistake — I meant "most powerful special dressphere."

Warrior was a solid dressphere that I used through pretty much the whole game with Paine, and Excalibur was a damn useful attack at lower levels. I found it to be quite versatile too and for that it gets my vote. Warrior it is.

Only bold the one you’re voting for. The way you did that is going to be really confusing for the person counting the votes. Frankly, if I was running this rumble, I would simply discount your vote and not even take the time to figure it out.

More then a 3:1 victory for Full Throttle there, very one-sided indeed!

6. White Mage: Obtained after sucessfully completing the mission in Zanarkand, in Chapter 1, White Mage will be familar with those who have played previous FF titles.

3. Thief: Rikku’s default dressphere, and leaves very little to the imagination! All sorts of thief related attacks(Steal, Mug etc etc) are par for the course here.

Round 1, Battle 8:

7. Gun Mage: Obtained from the Battle Arena, Gun Mage is not as useful as Gunner, but still has some intresting attacks.

14. Machina Maw: Rikku’s special dressphere, obtained on Bikanel Island, like her fellow YRP members special dressphers, this one has many powerful and devastating attacks.

Also not that it really matters but you get Gun Mage for doing the Hypello guarding task in Chapter 1 or the ticket selling task in Chapter 2. You don’t get it from the battle arena.

I personally didn’t find any of the specal dresspheres especially advantageous whatsoever.

Agreed fully. Though I did max out Gunmage on Yuna, it’s hardly worth using it.

As for myself, Songtress owned face. It’s a very unique "class" if you think about it. It’s not everyday your characters abilties are based on singing.

Battle 1:

18. Follow that O’aka!(Chpt 1): Hounded by Al Bhed creditors, O’aka is on the run, you can catch him and do two things: Turn him over to the Al Bhed, or hide him aboard the Celsius, and help clear his debt, which if you manage to do so, he opens a shop selling a lot of very useful items.

16. Foggy Fiend Frenzy(Chpt 1): Essentially, a gauntlet from Mushroom Rock Road to Youth League headquarters, fighting your way through fiends. You can reach the Den of Woe for the first time and meet Nooj for the first time also.

BTW — I think the IX strategy guide is generally considered the worst, because it keeps referring to information at PlayOnline and that info isn’t even available anymore.

Battle 2:

31. Masterpiece Theatre(Chpt 5): Very intresting mission this one. The Al Bhed build a very strong machina which you can fight, and by digging up parts on Bikanel Island, can make increasinly more powerful. Once it reaches its maximum, it goes awry and you are forced to fight it.

6. Water Are We Doing Here?(Chpt2): Short and sweet. Simply go to the Oasis on Bikanel Island, where you fight Logos and steal a syndicate uniform. Machina Maw is obtained here also.

Battle 3:

Concert Clean-Up: A fairly short mission, in which you are required to eliminate fiends in a cavern in the Thunder Plains, in order for Yuna to safely perform her concert. You fight the boss Zalamander here.

Battle Blockade: The Ronso, seeking vengence against the Guado for Maester Seymours atrocities, are carrying out an invasion against their enemy. It is up to Yuna and company to confront Garik, and try and prevent him from carrying out the massacre.

A 2:1 win for BB there, and it advances to round 2.

Battle 4:

Tourist Trap: Taking place in the cave located on the gorge just north of the Calm Lands. You are required to rescue the tourists trapped in the fiend infested cave, and defeat Yojimbo. Not an easy battle.

YRP, The Scalpers Three!: At the Moonflow, the girls are required to sell all the tickets for an upcoming production by Tobli. Done correctly, a tasty profit and a dressphere are your reward.
