…it might have better graphics than your crappy computer… but overall the pc visuals are way better than ps2

Anyway, Typo has FFXIPC, and ish getting the PS2 also, though he would not necessarily recommend getting both.
It’s just that if the PC breaks down for some reason, I’ve got the other system to play it on. Typo ish sick of HDD failures and other such computer-related mishaps =._.=;;,
Hmm, I am more likely to play the PS2 version since I could even play the game on the floor (yummy carpet) if I wanted to, instead of having to sit at the PC on this uncomfortable chair in this cramped up room. >.>
(A)i chose ps2 ver. because my ps2 is japanese and i read that the graphic is better for ps2 and the effects on the pc is better so i chose ps2 for graphics
(B)yes its really easy to control on ps2(havn’t played pc so dont know about that part 🙂 )
I’d say PC simply because of all the macros you can set up, it makes partying so much simpler. The PS2 contoller simply doesn’t have enough buttons for this game. Of course if you can get a keyboard for the PS2 then either one is great.
The main thing you need a keyboard for in this game is to talk to others, which, again, ish a huge part of the game. However, like Shizuku said, the PS2 controller can use all the macro sets as well, even more efficiently than the keyboard, as the keyboard has a 1 second delay when you press ctrl/alt to open the macro menu, while the PS2 controller can open the menu instantly. It’s also fully configurable, has more than enough buttons (there’s a button I don’t even use~), and can supposedly use its force feedback function…though I can’t seem to get that to work. =._.=;;,
Because the controller ish so compact compared to the keyboard and its many many command keys/hotkeys spread out all over it, I’d recommend using a PS2 controller even for the PC version, using a ps2-pc controller adapter ^^~.
If you have a crappy computer, more of a console gamer and have a lay-zy boy chair, go for the ps2.
If you like computer chairs, badass computer and have swift-like fingers when using a keyboard then go for the pc.

Yes, that would be called a patch.
I would perfer the PC over the PS2 version mostly for the hassle of trying to set stuff up together. You have to get a USB Keyboard… and if you want to type stuff, most likely you’re going to be sitting down with the thing on your lap or lying down… which can be a bother sometimes.
Otherwise, PS2 is a bit more stable in terms of many things and you won’t need to buy a lot of other things… except for 100 for the game, the modem, and a keyboard which you SHOULD have.
There really isn’t much downloadable content… you can’t modify the game in any way… just download patches and such. So I guess I don’t exactly understand what you mean.
If you don’t have a great computer, get it on PS2.
I guess what I’m trying to ask is if I’d still be able to get any and all patches that they made available if I played it on the PS2.
do you have to buy the HHD for the ps2 and if so how much will it cost and is there any extra cost for playing it aswell as the broadband fee?

Well on the PS2 you wont accidentally hit the windows key and minimize the screen and get booted from the game. So thats another plus for the PS2.

Apparently they didn’t on my computer then, because I have been playing it since it came out, and I have been accidentally pressing the windows key since it came out, and accidentally getting knocked off the server.
Also, don’t double post… use the edit button.

Like Loki said, the windows key is quite functional, and is responsible for booting countless people when they press it accidentally.

With the controller, silly. I use a PS2 controller with the PC version, and all you have to do is choose 2 buttons to map as your ctrl/alt macros. My macro buttons are L1 (ctrl) and L2 (alt), and to switch macro sets all I have to do is hold down either button, then press up/down to cycle through the 10 sets. It’s far more convenient than the keyboard, for sure.

The menu Typo was referring to is the one that appears after you press ctrl or alt. The actual menu you use to activate the macros, not the main in-game menu.
Can’t u disable the window keys???
I would rather lay in bed and play FFXI then on a chair in front of a computer. reason one: much larger screen(i have a 27", 21", 13"(x2) tv’s and a 52" HDTV), much better picture.
reason 2: A bed is more comfable.
Typing while laying down doesn’t bother me at all, so its just who u r and what u like.
