things to consider:
Console (stay with the playstation or shift to xbox)
Battles (real time, as in XI or XII, be more traditional, turn based, random battles from the previous incarnations)
Player Advancing (exp/ap, sphere grid, job system/dress spheres, fixed jobs with each character, junction, materia, etc)
Number of Playable Characters, characters in battle party
World Map
Online/Offline
Should summons fight with you, ie X, or just attack with an animation, ie VII, VIII or IX
Mission based or more linear
and any other comments on the gameplay that i have not mentioned in this list.
Personally, i would like it to stay on the playstation,
have a battle system similar to that in X-2.
I’m not to sure what kind of advancing system i’d prefer, but probably something similar to the sphere grid, but more job specific (if that makes sense).
I’m not really bothered how many playable characters there are as long as there are more than number of people in the battle party (i found X-2 to be restrictive because of that), which i feel is best with three people.
I think a world map is better than the long path that basically describes X and X-2.
Offline would be better for me as i might actually play the game,
the summons i’d like to be a party member when sumoned.
I’m personally a fan of more linear games so i’d like it to be more linear than mission based, but if the missions have little or no impact on the main story mission, then i dont really mind
so what about you guys?
Battle: Real time I guess. Both are good.
Player Advancing: Junctions
Playable characters at a time: 3
World Map: Definately
Summons: As much as I liked controlling, it’s animations for me.
Mission: Nahhh.
As you can probably tell. I like the classic ps1 FFs than the new. But I still love the new ones.
Playtime: Real Time
Player Advancing: Levels and experience
Playable characters: more than 4
World Map: Hell yeah
Summons: controllable
Missions: Only if the story is still incredibly good.
Playtime: Future
Player Advancing: Levels and experience
Playable characters: 7,3 Three at a time
World Map: Yes
Summons: controllable
Missions: No
Battles: CTB (Conditional Turn-Based… what FFX was)
Advancement: Exp/AP
Character Types: Fixed classes for characters
Party Size (overall): 7-8
Active Party Size (what you see in battle): either four at a time, fixed per battle, allowing the active party to be switched only on the overworld/at save points, OR three characters at a time, switch on the fly (i.e. FFX)
World Map: Don’t really care… should be easier than FFX to revisit places, though
Summons: I like both ways they’ve been done in the past, though the controllable ones can get cheap.
Missions: No, that’s why the main, linear quest has subquests.
