what game was the biggest letdown to you and why?
I choose FFX though because I think I expected the impossible from it, and of course I didn’t get it… so i was just kinda put off and didn’t finish the game for a long long time.
Virtua Fighter 4, I had heard good things about this series for years so when I saw this was a greatest hit I picked it up. I don’t know if I just didn’t give this game enough of a chance but the day after I bought it I was back to playing Tekken 4.
Seven Samurai 20XX. I love Akira Kurosawa movies so much….and they butchered his most famous one to make this pitiful excuse for a ‘game’. *cries*
I almost bought that last friday.
I am glad that I bought Harvest Moon for my gameboy instead.
yeah, Virtua Fighter 4 sucked ass! realistic my hole! Dragonball Z Budokai was more realistic!
I can tell that you’re not a fighting fan.
Anyways, I felt that Metal Gear Solid 2 was one of em. It was a great game yes…. but maybe I expected TOO much out of it.
SSX 3. I thought it was going to be awesome incorporating all the great stuff from Tricky and adding more to it, but EA practically didn’t bother as much with the game. The characters have like no personalities, you have to find and complete stupid challenges (Break all of the glass: where the hell is the glass!?!?!?), find stupid snowflakes that are randomly scattered all over the place, and wort of all, the expect us to explore more in that game when there’s "Off Limits" if you board a centimeter off the track.
Come now, Viggo has tons of personality.
I personally liked SSX3 a lot more then I thought I would, but I’m with you on the challenges. They’re all terrible. I just stuck to the races and trick competitions.
And got something that wasn’t even equal to the original, let alone better.
Still a good game, but a disappointment nonetheless.
I thought it would rock, but royally sucked.
The graphics were okay, they followed the original story, but the gameplay was terrible. Each character is supposed to have an elemental ability, but all they do is shoot a beam of light.
It was just sad.
I usually do not place too much hype on games. Sure, there are some I get myself interested with but I try not to expect the next best thing, you know ? After all, they’re just video games, so if in the end I didn’t like them, I can always sell them back.
I am glad that I bought Harvest Moon for my gameboy instead.
I just got it a few weeks ago too. Great game. Though you should have waited for "Harvest Moon For Girls", because you are a girl.
It was supposed to be a mario-killer, it didn’t even come close to being a sonic-killer. In fact, Pandemonium was better in my opinion, and that is far from being a great game.
This game (and the company who made it) were hyped to the nth degree when the Playstation was in its infancy. The game itself was a horrid mishmash of all the bad parts of previous platform games on the 16 bit consoles, with really really bad pseudo 3D. I bought this game because I loved platform games back in the NES and SNES days.
This turned me off the whole genre for many years. Spyro got me back into it though, love Spyro.
P.S. VF4 shits all over any of the Tekken games. Tekken = button masher, Virtua Fighter = skill!
Anyways…
The biggest game letdown for me would have to be…umm…
Well, right off the top of my head, I will say FF:CC, and FFVIII
And i’m not even going to go into detail why those games totally destroyed my high hopes for both titles
You really can’t say that the N64 was a letdown because it had potential.
THAT IS THE WHOLE FRICKIN POINT OF BEING LET DOWN!!!
God you are so friggin stupid it’s unbearable.
If something has a lot of potential, and that potential isn’t reached… it is a letdown.
As for me, I would probably say Final Fantasy X… or did i already say that? have i posted in this thread? *goes to check* Oops… yep i did… nevermind then, I hate you Tiduslives. Die plz ๐
Keep it up, and you’ll see what happens
Someone needs to buy a dictionary because there is no threat in that post. Insult, yes. Suggestion, yes. No threat, a dictionary would be a good idea.
I’d say one of the all time biggest letdowns would be castlevania on the N64. They went from one of the all time greatest games ever in SOTN to, well blah would be the best way to put it.
Insult =
God you are so friggin stupid it’s unbearable.
Threat =

And if I die, it wouldn’t really matter to me. Try to outsmart me again…
Biggest let-down.
FFVII… Sephiroth to be precise. He somehow had an awesome start but didn’t build up afterwards, instead got kind of boring… Anyway I failed to see what made him the best villain ever, that many people claim he is. High potential, yes, after this kick-ass introduction, but he does nothing much with this potential. ๐
Chrono Cross
Only in one miiiiinor aspect, though. But if you’re me it’s important, crucial. He wasn’t there. ;_;
Monkey Island 3 and especially 4 where the worst let-down ever, though. Ruining the atnosphere by giving it this bright fluffy comic graphics with the many funny colours… I like MI1 and 2 because they look itself was a little gloomy, and under all those pixels relatively realistic. o_o You know… It weas dark, with dark humour. A happy-go-lucky comic just didn’t live up to the name Monkey Island. Boo.
Chrono Cross
Only in one miiiiinor aspect, though. But if you’re me it’s important, crucial. He wasn’t there. ;_;
Who are you referring by "he" ? Magus ? Frog ? or Crono ? Because if it is the latter you ought to play the game again…Because
*spoiler*
he DOES have a cameo.
