Anyone else think the 360 line-up is a little….limp?.

And by limp i mean shit.

Well not exactly but i`ll tell why i`m not getting a 360. I got an official dvd from microsoft in the post in which it`s filled with trailers, console add-ons and whatnot. But as i watch the videos one after another i was extremely dissapointed. I really couldn`t see anything "next-gen" apart from Oblivion, which is getting delayed btw. These were the final trailers to show off before the games are realeased next month and countless trailers were dogged down with frame rate problems.

Does anyone else think that the initial line-up games for the 360 seem to lack something, because after watching the dvd i`m quite simply not interested in an Xbox 360 now.

i agree the X-box also looks pretty stupid

Well, there’s no killer-app like Halo was in the line-up, and that’s pretty disappointing. That’s not to say there’s not any top-notch titles though – PGR3 is easily one of the sexiest racing games i’ve seen, co-op Rareware platforming in Kameo looks awesome, and Call of Duty 2 and Quake 4 look like excellent PC ports, to show the console can stand up to its Microsoft brethren.

Compared to the launch of the PSP and DS we’ve seen this year (PSP launching with no really good games, and only a handfull worth playing so far, and the DS launching with Mario 64, and is only getting a ton of good games now) the X360 American launch is pretty damn strong.

That’s the benefit about my delayed Australian launch though – we’ve got 30 launch titles confirmed, which means that Oblivion will most likely be a launch title for us. At least I won’t be missing that boat <3

Another quick region-coding question: with games, are they region coded like DVDS (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) or is it just the PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J? Ie, would a European PAL X360 eventually run Australian PAL games?

Yes i feel the same way. They really dropped the ball somewhere here. To sum up the release of the 360 in one word, it would be, meh.

The launch titles for Xbox 360 are good, but not great. Sure, out of the 18 games being released may be a really awesome game or two. But step back and judge them all as one, and all I see is good. It’s certainly better than the lineup of the Xbox and the PS2, but this statement also means crap.

I’m definately not getting one at the $400 tag. Hopefully next year around April or something, the Premium package will drop in price to $300. Then I will get it.

On gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6140156/index.html), the writers were asked about what they will do first when they open the box. Some are funny.

I would quite like to play some of the upcoming games like Perfect Dark Zero, and some other shooter that will come out in the future, but the 360 doesn’t seem to have big guns. Either that or they’re keeping them hidden for a while.

Halo 3 (and most likely Final Fantasy XIII) seem like pretty big guns to me. Not to mention BioWare and MistWalker’s RPGs.

And the whole ‘well they’re not available on launch’ argument is pretty weak – Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero are excellent launch titles by anyones standards, especially if Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the killer-app everyone is expecting in a couple of months.

Especially since it will be an Australian launch title <3

I think it’s a fairly solid launch line up with heavy support from well established publishers like ubisoft, EA (gulp), Tecmo, and Capcom for example.

Kameo EOP
Ridge Racer

The x360’s launch line-up reads like a holy gaming bible.

It’s a pretty decent set of launch games! I can’t remember what the X-box launched with, aside from Halo, but I think it’s a better set of games then the PS2 or Gamecube launched with! Kameo is especially awesome. I’ve played the demo at EB bunches and it is a blast. ^^

I’m still not getting one right away though! No point to fight for getting one now when you know in the not too distant future it’ll have a much better selection and be cheaper!

standard lauchday fare, imo. never been very big on the style of games I generally see on the Xbox, and the few that interest me are usually on other consoles.

The only PS2 launch title I can remember liking was SSX, and I remember some really, really awful games at launch too. A pool game, and that fireworks game.

Unless I’m wrong about Tekken Tag’s release date, and that was a launch game too. I thought it was one of the first games to come out after launch, but it was quite a few years ago, so I could definitely be wrong. Tekken Tag was pretty great too!

Nope, PS2 was released in 2000, and ICO came out sometime in 2001.

Also: TTT wasn’t that great. I remember playing it at launch and being underwhelmed.

Actually, TTT was pretty good. Certainly far better than 4.
