So, I got a Gamecube for Xmas + $100 for games.
It came with SSBM and some random Sonic the Hedgehog game in the box.
Anyway, someone list however many "must have" gamecube games they think I can get with the $100 and what they are/reasons why.
Cos I’m incredibly bored and I need to get enough for the $100 in Gamecube Games to keep me from being bored until the PS3 comes out.
EDIT: SSBM is pretty fucking fun. Still have to get the hang of the controller before I take on the Adventure progression, but I’m good enough with it in Classic mode to enjoy it.
Metroid Prime.
All i can think of at the moment ๐
LoZ:The Wind Waker-Although it`s got some intense criticism i found TWW a joy to play. Although combat and movement is almost indentical to the OOT it still managed to captivate me until the end.
That`s all i can think of tbh ๐
I haven`t exactly took advantage of many GC games myself.
Tales of Symphonia
Animal Crossing
Fire Emblem – Path of Radiance
Paper Mario – The Thousand Year Door
and most "Player’s Choice" games
Metroid Prime – visually one of the most beautifull games this generation
the gameplay suffers abit as it should have had more action and no regenerating enemy’s in such moody level desing.. but thats just my take onnit
F zero GX – if you like arcade racing and are in need of a very big challenge you wont find anything better then this.. this shit turns into a survival horror towards the end
Waverace Blue Storm – the tricksystem sucks but if you wanna race against nature you owe it to youreself to buy this.. not really an easy game wich is why it got a bit bashed at launch but its absolutely unique in the racinggenre and the realistic waves are still the best out there
REmake/REzero – no explanation needed i think
RE4 – definitly one of the best games of 2005 and very rewarding to finish as the mercenaries game rocks and playing it again on proffesional is suprisingly challenging
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat – if you can tollerate the bongo controller(wich will be compatible with Rev!) and if you love 2d platformers this is a must play
Metal Arms Glitch in the System – harcore actiongame(think MDK)
cheesy humor, great level and enemydesing
easily one of the best multiplatformgames of this generation
absolutely massive(40+levels)
if you prefer the cubecontroller over the xboxcontroller this is the version to go with.. the cubeversion has some very minor problems with the sound wich the xboxversion doesnt.. the xb version has superior sound but has some tearing to keep a constant framerate of 60fps
random fact: after this game Swingin ape(the developers) got bought out by Blizzard to make console games for’m and are working on Starcrat Ghost atm.. being bought out by Blizzard after you only made 1 game = big compliment in my book
thats it i guess
except for RE4&DKJB all of these should be around budget price and seeing how big Metal Arms and Waverace flopped probably even below(i bought those 2 for $10 a piece)
Star Fox Assualt if you like Star Fox becuase it is like the original Star Fox and Star Fox 64 unlike Star Fox Adventures. Also there is a whole new enemy so you are not fighting Andross again thus there are new places to explore. Also You are no longer in the Arwing or the Land Rover all the time anymore, you are now on foot in a few missions which adds alot of new funny and gameplay to the game.
007 Nightfire if you like 007 games this is a must have. Great single player missions and great 4 player action in very fun and detailed levels. The new one they came out with a year or so ago might be better but I wouldn’t know since I havent played it.
Resident Evil becuase if you liked the original you will love this remake becuase the graphics are awesome and they have added many new things to enhance the gameplay and story of the game, a must buy in my opinion for RE fans.
MarioKart Double Dash becuase its a great MarioKart game and if you loved MarioKart64 you will love this because it is even better. With more characters and you can actually pick the car you want to drive, the battle levels aren’t the greatest but they are still great to play. Also there are new battle modes which make the game even more fun.
Resident Evil 4
Mario Party 7
Legend of Zelda (the new one that I can’t remember the name of)
One another note, if you have a PS2 then for 50$ or so you can get Trapt. It’s quite fun. You spend most of the game beheading, burning, dismembering, and slicing up unwiting foes in a labrynth of death known as your castle. You then feed their sould to the devil. I think its a good investement.
Twilight Princess? =/. It hasn’t been released yet.
Oops. I’m not really up to date on Gamecube games.
No matter what you do first, you must pick up Resident Evil 4. It’s without a doubt the best game on the system, and one of the greatest titles released, period. I was a big fan of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, but I think it still cost $40 or something. Get Metroid Prime for $20, since its a Greatest Hits dealie. If you are looking for a unique battle system, a long RPG, and an awesome game, buy Baten Kaitos. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was underrated imo, and was really great. And two more are Super Mario Sunshine and Tales of Symphonia.
Yes, but the GC version > PS2 version.
1. RE4
2. Metroid Prime
3. Starfox Assault (mainly because I remember the Starfox for the N64 being one of my favorite games, and I’d like to play something like that again).
That will probably take up all of the $100. If not, I’ll try to also get that one game that Ndi kept saying I had to get back before I had a Gamecube.
Geist or something, right? I think those will keep me fairly occupied for a good while as far as gaming goes.
I’ll be buying these things this afternoon when I go to the store to get groceries, etc.
Though I will consider getting that if I have enough money left.

Please don’t get Geist. It’s horrible.

it has some decent ideas but in the end its boring as hell

If you do not like RE games, you will not like RE4. This is why I think it is total bullshit to call it "the best game on the system." MP2 is also pretty boring. Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario and Assault are hours of fun though. Seriously.
Well, I liked Resident Evil games prior to 4. It’s the fact that 4 takes the series in a completely new direction that almost makes it seem like it is nothing like Resident Evil.
Resident Evil 4 – It is VERY different than prior RE games, IMO different in a good way. Very fun, the mini games are as fun as the game itself. Worth a try RE fan or not.
Resident Evil the remake – If you like part one, this one is a definite buy. Very respectful to the original, adds on to the story and has some of the best GC graphics to date.
Every single fucking one of them was unavailable at just about every electronics store in the area that I went to.
Except Geist, so I got that.
๐
Seriously, there were only three or four titles that weren’t sold out.

Wait to buy it?
I mean, what’s the point in buying several games at once? Just play one, finish it, and buy the next one.
Metroid Prime and RE4 are my suggestions. (I might be alone in thinking that Double Dash is the worst Mario Kart)

I have to take issue with this. I didn’t like any of the RE games prior to 4, and I think it’s one of the top five games for the system. There is a world of difference between it and the rest of the series. Best game on the system? I don’t think so, but I can understand why some might say that. It’s as valid a choice as any of the other great titles mentioned.
