What are your top 5 sequels you’d like to see?

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 3 – Bioware was working on a third installment, until they started on the MMORPG, The Old Republic. Still, I’d like to see a conclusion to that story arc.

Skies of Arcadia II – I loved the first, random airship battles (Airship vs Airship, something the ‘great’ Final Fantasy has failed to do) as well as the standard random battles. The first has a great story, and I’m sure that if a second was made, it’d be just as good if not better.

Shenmue III – I just really want to find out what happens to Ryo Hazuki and get revenge on the bastard who killed Ryo’s father, as well as having a larger world to travel in. Been in Japan and China, would be nice to head to another location to continue.

Saints Row 3 – Saints Row 2 is a awesome game, a huge improvement over the first imo. Tied up a lot of loose ends from the first but left itself open for a sequel. Hopefully the ‘Boss’ will get their revenge on the last of the founding members of the Third Street Saints (The gang you ended up taking over) in the third installment.

Mass Effect 3 – This is pretty much confirmed to be at least in the planning stages (though I have heard rumors of it in early pre production, though I’m not 100% sure of that.), and with how the second one finished, I have a feeling that the third installment will be a big one.

Other than what DH mentioned, I’d love to see a proper RPG sequel to Shadowrun (and no, that FPS rubbish that Microsoft released for the 360 with the Shadowrun name tacked on doesn’t count).

But due to FASA being owned by Billy Boy Gates and his evil empire, and Beam Software (the original SNES/Mega Drive version developer) being gobbled up by Infrogrammes, it probably won’t happen. /sigh

The biggest one for me is probably Apollo Justice 2. Eternal Darkness is a close second. Another Lunar game would be ace, and more Powerstone and EBA would be pretty swell too.

If we’re mentioning stuff we know is coming out, my most anticipated sequels are probably the remaining chapters of Umineko. I don’t think I’ve ever put that much work into theorizing about anything else in my life. The payoff is going to be pretty awesome.

There are a lot of franchises I like that I’m behind in too. I’d be psyched to learn about a new Disgaea or Silent Hill or Shin Megami Tensei or tons of other games, but I still haven’t played all the released game out there yet, either because of my lack of consoles to play them on or because I am lamer than lame.

3.) Another game from Junko Kawano (Shadow of Destiny, Time Hollow).

It’s difficult for me to get excited about sequels, seeing as how most are either pretty awful, failing to capture the orginal’s magic, or else are utterly unindistinguishable from the original (in which case, what was the point?)

I can only think of 3 that I’d be all that fussed about:

1) Apollo Justice 2.
2) Forbidden Siren 3 (Blood Curse was awful and doesn’t count).
3) Eternal Darkness 2.

And even they come with the proviso ‘But only if you’re going to make an effort, and not make them utterly sh1t’.

Silent Hill 6 – But only if it was made by Team Silent, not others.

Diablo 3 – I’m tired of 3D RPG’s, so going back to isometric view should bring back good memories.

Persona 5 – I liked P4 and I’m quite interested to see what Atlus could do PS3 capabilities.

Dead Space 2 – The first part was terrifying as hell and I want to experience that again.

Quake 5 and Doom 4 – I miss classic FPS.

What’s shameful is that the ended the Xenosaga games after 3… from what I heard a long time ago, it was originally suppose to be 5-6 games… now that would have been interesting to see.

If they were going to do an actual 5 and have Homecoming just be a named game, it’d have to be the continuation of Heather’s story.

I am not opposed to this, if a legitimate reason could be pulled out of someone’s ass. The odd numbered entries are sketchy in terms of storyline, anyway, though.

Vagrant Story conluded perfectly I’ve never thought that It needed a sequel.

I’ve never Liked II, but if they make a Medievil in the style of the First one I’ll be really happy to see it.

This is my list with no particular order.

Chrono Whatever – Chrono Trigger was a masterpiece & Chrono Cross too, so Why not another Chrono Whatever game?.

New Yasumi Matsuno Title – I liked FFT, Vagrant Story & FFXII, so if the guy plans on making another title, I’m all ears.

It’s a fan-made sequel to Chrono Trigger (set between Trigger and Cross) that Square-Enix terminated after the creators worked on it for 5 years and were two weeks from releasing it. The creators had to destroy all copies but recorded one play-through for posterity. It’s pretty good.

What I was familiar with was a fan-made remake of Chrono Trigger, Called Chrono Resurrection that had some amazing graphics but S-E send them a cease & desist letter. Funny thing is that a year or so from this event they released the DS Port…

That’s kind of a side game than a direct bridge. That’s why I want one in the middle of Trigger and Cross :p RD is pretty good, but it’s confusing on how to get all the endings if you don’t look it up. :/

qft. As much as I thought the beta version was cool, I think the new direction they took RE4 is what helped revived the series.

I posted the trailer for the originally planned RE4 in this old thread I made: Thread 73340, and personally I’d have much rather liked to see it get released over what we got. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my RE4 and I’ve completed it numerous times for the Ps2 and even unlocked almost everything (beaten Assignment Ada and Separate Ways many times too), and now I breeze through the game with the Chicago Typewriter in like a few hours or less. I can still remember the way it all felt when I played through it the first time; it’s one hell of an epic game. But I do think what they had originally slated would’ve made it feel more ‘at-home’ with the rest of the series. When I said ‘subpar’ up above, I think what I really should’ve said was ‘drastically different’. I don’t dislike RE4, and in fact I honestly do consider it a favorite of mine. Gotta love being pursued through a creepy old village by a bunch of crazed villagers who want only to kill you and eat you for breakfast. However, I would’ve also loved to see Leon in a mansion being hunted by supernatural enemies. Would’ve just flowed a little bit better with the rest of the games, but either way, RE4 is still amazing.

I think your comment about it being drastically different is what a lot of fans had a hard time with. After years and years of the same formula, something new threw them off. I think this is the main reason a lot of fans hated 5 because it worked on the same formula with a few additions. I do think Capcom has the ability to do something with this series to take it back to its roots without going back to the original formula. Hopefully… they can.

All I really want is 6 to be Chris/Leon co-op. 5 being a reskin of 4 didn’t bother me a bit. Just made it even better.

I understand that some fans of the originals have a hard time with it, and that’s fine. To each their own, but the originals’ tank controls combined with the fixed camera just makes them needlessly difficult and I can’t even stomach playing them, anymore.

Yeah, SH1 has the same problem, but that game is so easy that I can live with it. I think this is the 5th or 6th time I’ve made this same post XD

I agree. Been playing Elder Scrolls IV, off and on for a while and I’m enjoying it. A fifth installment would be nice.
Gotta love the broken enchantment system on III.
I need to reinstall IV and pick up where I left off, but then I will miss being overpowered to death like in III.
