Reaction to console sales?

I saw that the X-box has sold 1.5 million units in the U.S. for 2001 while the Gamecube has sold 1.3 million units. Of course I don’t know how many units the PS2 has sold and it will be the software that will determine the winner but early on it seems that each console is getting a nice piece of the pie. What do you think of this?

I think that both the two newcomers are showing a promising start and the rumors about low fanbase for the XBox are exaggerated.

What you didn’t hear is that months after the release of the PS2, it is still selling strongly; even more strongly now that Metal Gear Solid 2, Jak & Daxter and Final Fantasy X have been released.

Even the Dreamcast sold strongly when it was first released. It won’t last.

I think the PS2 got more sales over the holidays, especially since, right now, it has the best game line-up.

But the Gamecube and XBox are doing better than I expected.

PS2 will conquer all! As for XBox, as soon as it becomes known that the upcomming games on Gamecube and PS2 have everything over what’s comming for XBox, Microsoft’s little black isn’t gonna last much longer.
But if you ask me, the PS2, GBA, and PC are all you really need to play the best games out there.

The Xbox is doing better then I expected and Gamecube has a little less ;_; It will change when GC finally hits Europe.. and then… when all continents have these consoles.. the real war can begin 😉 and Xbox will fail miserable.

I agree that the X-box will have problems internationally but we will just have to wait and see. To tell the truth I bought a PS2 instead this Holiday season. I bought mine exactly during FFX’s release date:D. I guess it’s obvious that unless both the GC and X-box get some must have titles soon the PS2 will be the clear victor. Games are just to expensive now for you to take risks so I just stuck with the PS2 with it’s sure list of titles:).

I fail to see what XBox can offer console gamers. It seems like the good game on it either are coming or have already been released on the PS2 or GC. Or like Halo their coming to PC, and XBox can never out-power a PC.

Anyway this might all change , who knows…..

So like, the reason why PS2 sells like butter-in-sunshine is because of the recent release of FFX…

Well, it looks like I’m going to have to spend $1000+ if I ever plan on playing the console games that I’m looking foward to.

The Xbox has Jet Set Future, Halo, Dead or Alive, Shenmue 2, and several other games that I froaking want to play badly.

The GameCube has the multiplayer gawd that is Super Smash Bros. Melee, Star Fox: Dino Planet, Wave Race, Rogue Squadron 2, new zeldas, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil, and likely more Nintendo only titles that I want to play >_<;;.

The PS2, which I currently own, has Final Fantasy X, FF XI, Metal Gear Solid 2, Guilty Gear, Gran Turismo, XenoSaga, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, Ace Combat 4, SSX, and such.

Then there’s my PC, which is still reserved mainly for EQ, Urban Terror, and maybe Neverwinter Nights if it ever feels like coming out 9_9.

Broke is gonna be me.

I hope Nintendo makes a return to the top of the hill, personally. I still have many fond memories of my SNES days.

I hate x-box….crapy games….i hate gamecube….hate nintendo altogether…..except for GBA…..so i could care less with there sales……only interested in PS2:D

I think that sony will win the console war. I hope xbox gets its ass whooped and leaves the console wars to nintendo and sony
