My list:
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (I want to kill Funimation for butchering this series)
Green Green (a school full of estrogen-deprived males)
and Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose (even though only one episode was ever released, it’s still extremely funny)
Wah~! I checked out images from each of the shows you guys listed, and the art is just drawing me in! Looks like I’ve got more anime to watch! I’ve been told that I have to watch Green Green before
Trinity Blood
Trinity Blood
Well I know Trinity Blood is finally getting a bit popular since they’re showing it on Adult Swim/cartoon Network on Saturday evenings ^_^
I thought of another anime that needed a bit more attention while at work today…
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette (really spooky story, the art is amazing and the OST is fantastic)
oh and i saw like the first episode of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha and i couldn’t stand watching anymore. why? well because i kept rewinding to the transformation sequences and the little bits and pieces of fanservice they put on the absolutely adorable cute little girls. >.<
damn those japanese for teasing me so. now i have to go "shake off" this built in pressure on my great loli galleries. arg!!
/me loves transformation sequences ;_; so so much.
i also saw the intro to Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan and it also looks like a good show. lol at the part where the girl is teasing the poor guy. >.<
aside from that. omg you guys should totally see
PRINCESS TUTU
omfg!! >.< the whole world needs to know about this one!! arg!!!
also Kaleido Star is really nice as well. i love shoujos. ๐

Le Portrait de Petit Cossette (really spooky story, the art is amazing and the OST is fantastic)
Is the Cossette from that series based on the girl from Les Miserables?
Lost Universe
Of what I was getting from it, ya, but a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry strange twist and not keeping to that story at all. She haunts a glass that Eiri has in this antique shop, and he shares the same soul(reincarnation) as her lover/artist. it’s really creepy.
Here’s two links:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2908
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Portrait_de_Petit_Cossette <–that link would probably be a lot better. The dub was really good (which I usually don’t say), I was glad I bought it after watching the fansub when it first came out. ^_^
Mai-HiME/Mai-Otome
Mahou Sensei Negima
I suppose thats three and I guess that they are becoming more popular now since the dubbed releases in america… and all hail Dokoro-chan O:]

The voice actress that makes 3 of those series awesome is Chiba Saeko.
Now is that a voice actor for the english dub? Also if you know where i can find a place just even to preview a little of the dub it would be most appreciated ๐
She’s from the Japanese dubbing.
Although it can’t really be helped I guess.
Huh…
Oh! And various Yaoi anime.

Lost Universe.
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.

I’m sure FLCL is known to some degree, but I always hear people talk about how funny and random it is, when there is actually stuff that is overlooked because of the randomness. FLCL actually has a good storyline, but the "OMG ITS SO RANDOM" comments somewhat ruins it, amirite?
Not to say that many terrible shows don’t float up to the top as well for one pathetic reason or another.
Flame of Recca
Ninku
Yaiba
Kamichu!
& Black Jack
I also loved the Mai series.
if i havne’t said so already because i don’t remember what i posted…
PRINCESS TUTU IS SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH OMG! :p
D. Gray-Man
Also:
Black Lagoon
Night Head Genesis
Basilisk
No one i know knows of these animes lol
Ne1 here seen em?
Just a suggetstion, i know its old but its still pretty damn good anime
That’s about all that I can think of as I don’t watch that much anime. I read a lot more manga instead.
Also, I think Ive said this before, but people need to watch more Ping Pong Club. Get it in english though. The english voices rock.
Definately worth the download, and the half a year wait per episode >_>;;
There’s going to end up being around 10 episodes in total (one for each manga volume).
ghost hunt
I like your sig. ^_^ Sorry, just had to say it
Fix’d :smrt:
Sorry Prak. It’s very rare to catch you out on a spelling mistake heh.
I guess you’re right though. All of my friends know of Elfen Lied, so it does get a lot of attention.
Anyways, probably shouldn’t go on about spelling mistakes (or typo’s if you prefer) as this is about anime titles that deserve more attention. Heh.
Nadia too, but on this case it’s probably forgotten because is too old (even if it’s Gainax vintage, I don’t hear a lot about it usually.)
Ever. D:
– Gundam Wing
– Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
– Full Moon wo Sagashite
– Kiddy Grade
– Rockman.exe
– Shingetsutan Tsukihime
That’s all I can think of now. Not a huge list, but…some of the stuff is usually forgetten. D:
I didn’t know that kamikaze jeanne was an anime too…
The anime was fantastic, in my opinion. I haven’t read the manga though, so my view is horribly jaded. D:
Whistle!
Hikura No Go
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Mai Hime
Yes it’s Manga but…
Kingdom Hearts
Super robot wars OG
and, Corrector Yui, of course =P
– The lack of fansubs alone show it.
Tenshi No Shippo (Angel Tales) and Tenshi No Shippo Chu! (Angel Tales 2)
– Try and attaching yourself to the series.
Fruit basket is the anime that confuses me a lot
Black Lagoon
Any other Gundam series besides Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed.
Gunslinger Girls
Pretty Soldier Sasami (Funny Tenchi Spinoff)
Pani Pani Dash!
dragonball z

dragonball z

Do those REALLY need more attention?
Last I checked, they have more attention than they deserve.
As for me, I really can’t think of a series I’ve seen that hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. The only thing I can think of is any anime adapted from a Ken Akamatsu manga. Not that they aren’t popular, I’m referring more to the fact that the quality of the anime has historically been by far inferior to the quality of the manga.
School Rumble is just a freaking hilarious show… Reminds me just like Ranma 1/2. Full Metal Panic! is a mechanized comedy and X/1999 just has alot of meaning into it.

You’re right, I agree. And I heart Full the Metal Panic series

I read the entirety of X/1999, much like I’ve read a whole bunch of CLAMP’s stuff. I wasn’t impressed. I read 18 volumes of build-up only to reach an end without a climax. Is the end in some other series? Did I miss it or something? I’m so glad I read it instead of watching the anime because I would have been PISSED for spending so much time watching an unfinished emo piece of crap. There. I said it.
I love Full Metal Panic!, but the thing is that it was pretty damn big a few years ago. It came and went and is fondly remembered. Then it had an excellent sequel series and a hilarious spin-off series. While I’d love to see the adventures and romance of Kaname and Sagara continue, it’s time to move on to something new.

Well sorry I’ve never read the manga of X/1999 but the short-series did give an ending. So I’m not really sure what you are talking about. It did unravel near the end where everyone were both killing each other, till the final 2 guys.
You think there is going to be a 4th season to Full Metal Panic!? For the series to end off with the Tessa brother being a Whisper and a bad guy, seems very interesting to know.
I have not yet finished watching that series, and spoiling the ending like that has made you my sworn enemy for life.
Oh, man! That was a seriously great anime with a premium time allocation, but I hardly hear anything about it, either. It was clever, amusing, and deep.
On the other hand, every time someone mentions Maburaho, I die a little bit. I didn’t hate it, but I want the time I spent watching it back. The problem was that it was just good enough to keep me hooked, but always left me feeling stupid for bothering to watch it.
Mahoraba, which I get the name confused with sometimes, is perfectly fine.
~Eyeshield 21 (It’s starting to get some attention)
~Whistle! (I started this one years ago and finally had to buy it from Hong Kong because I couldn’t get it anywhere else. Animenuke has it now though)
~Koi Suru Tenshi Angelique (Second season is coming out)
~Haruka Naru Toki no Naka de (and not the stupid OVA 3; It has nothing to do with the original series)
~Saiunkoku Monogatari (this is sorta women’s lib romance)
~Jyu Oh Sei (sci-fi fans will love this)
can’t think of anymore right now.
ps i am seriously thinking 2-4 week bans for people who don’t mark really massive spoilers would be in order. people really need to not do that shit, nothing worse than having a beloved series spoiled on you. =/
Black Lagoon
Ninin Ga Shinobuden
Hokuto no Ken
Fushigi Yuugi
Nana
also, Kaiji. KNEEL BEFORE MY AWESOME TASTES!
I have not yet finished watching that series, and spoiling the ending like that has made you my sworn enemy for life.
Well I’m sorry, I didn’t know how to quote it as a spoiler and I forgot I shouldn’t be saying those things.
I guess I’ll mark this as a spoiler just in case…..
You mean at the end where they totally don’t kill each other? In the manga a few characters get offed and everything builds up with some really pretentiously deep plot (that is to say its convoluted for the sake of convolution, but then all CLAMP work is like this). Then the two main guys realize its time to fight and head off towards their final battle and then the damn thing ends right there. That’s it. No more.
It’s utter crap, and I’m not going to waste my time on the anime. It COULD be different, but after having read the arduous entirety of the manga, I think it’s fair to say I gave the series a chance.
Just finished it, and I must say, it’s one of the best Anime’s I’ve seen in years. It reminded my why I love Anime to begin with, and it inspired me as well.

I’m not going to blame you for not liking it but from what you said there, it does end differently. Well for the short-series of X/1999 but not for the movie, the movie is so garbage; plot was so rushed.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato
Hokuto No Ken
with that horrible ending it has? NO WAY JOSE.
saint seiya, on the other hand, deserves way more attention.
at least here in mexico the craze for this anime is big.
but if it was as popular in the US, the games would be ported, more merchandise brought over, etc.
it was not as good as the first one, but it still moves you.
pity they now stopped doing anime’s and began doing manga’s….
Gungrave
Hajime No Ippo
Escaflowne
Great Teacher Onizuka
Koi Suru Tenshi Angelique

Neo Angelique ~Abyss~
Both are good.

There are more but the list of anime I’ve seen is too big, and my mind is tired.
Good Witch of the West
I can’t think of none anymore… but these I talk to my friends… they don’t know what it is… they are anime freaks to…..
Sumomomo Momomo (as long as u dont mind a bad ending)
Gundam 0080
Area 88 OVA
I’m pretty sure that would just be Brain Cell(s)-B-Gone
8 Man After and Casshan: Robot Hunter OAVs.
8 Man After is one of my all time favorite animes. Lots of action, well executed story/plot, and interesting characters. 8 Man’s probably the only hero, that I know of, that needs to take drugs in order to power up/stay alive.
Casshan: Robot Hunter was interesting and fun to watch, although, the story was a bit generic and short.
I haven’t seen either animes’ original TV series but I’m hoping that either franchise (especially 8 Man) can be revamped like Cyborg 009 or Cutey Honey.
-Pani Poni Dash! – Just started watching it made my ears ring it was so funny (Or was it the voices?) Either way its like an injection of insanity to my nervous system.
-All of the Full Metal Panics, Fumofffu included deserve more recognition!
-Neon Genesis Evangelion might need to be… well… dumbed down or… err… simplified to truly appeal to the bulk of the … World.
I haven’t really seen as many of the more obscure stuff that many here have!
***Edit Oh and how could I forget? Gunslinger Girl!***
… (Epic Fail)
MAN!!!
Nabari no Ou is a ninja-anime and much better than Naruto. (For it has fewer episodes *thank god!*) Its atmosphere is just great and the protagonist, Miharu, is far more interesting that Naruto is..
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is a parody. You should know many of the latest animes to understand the hints, but if you do, they’re great! :3
Holy lol.

gekko kamen (AKA in latin america as CENTELLA)
big fan of him, a childhood hero to me.
TESTUJIN 28 (AKA ironman 28, the 80’s version, though the 60’s version created the mecha concept manga/anime)
another childhood hero, and a big fan… i mean, LOOK AT HIM! HES A BAD ASS ROBOT, and that policeman is mario, PROVE ME WRONG, i dare you.
gegege no kitaro (the 80-90’s version, though i havent seen the 2000’s version)
i never could really see much of this series because after 5 episodes the channel where it was aired canceled it, along with their entire anime block.
and last but DEFINETELY not least:
DRAGON QUEST (AKA in latin america as las aventuras de fly)
this one was cancelled after 46 episodes, but if a bunch of frenchies made possible the creation of the hades saga in anime (saint seiya), then millions of fans can make the continuation of DQ a reality.
i dare anyone to say the fight against hyunkel didnt have EPIC labeled everywhere.
besides, the ending has one of the most powerful lyrics i have ever heard, along with hunter X hunter’s ending. (in spanish, of course)
1)Mahoromatic – haven’t seen ANYONE mention either of its 2 series.
2)Coyote Ragtime Show – simply a great rebirth of the ever fantastic Cowboy Bebop
3)Jungre De Ikou – how can something with transformation sequences like this not be better known? plus the comic showcasing is off the chain!
i have to agree with whoever it was mentioning Cosplay Complex, it doesn’t get enough attention and is hilarious. Puni Puni Poemy isn’t that well known for a reason, it’s just not that good, granted it is funny in places but it isn’t quite high standard Anime.
but we get a poorly concieved maho-shoujo, uninteresting and boring 5 sisters (the one with the huge boobs annoyed me the most, and i like huge boobs).
and WAY fast dialogue to understand what they are saying and laugh if it was meant to be funny.
a friend showed me the first minutes of the show and i LOLD very hard, then got the 2 episodes on my own, and i partly regret it.
i was partly dissapointed.
I find there’s a lack of discussion on Cyborg 009, a lot of Studio 4c’s stuff, Osamu Tezuka’s old experimental shorts, anything by Koji Yamamura, Metropolis…
– Sakigake!! Otoko Juku: A classic shonen school/comedy/action by Toei Animation based on the manga with the same name by Shonen Jump. It’s famous mainly in Japan. A fansub has been released but stalled after few episodes. Too shame.
– Sekushi Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo! Masaru-san: Just like Sakigake!! Otoko Juku, it was based on a manga released by Shonen Jump. The anime adaption was made by the famous anime director Akitaro Daichi (Akazukin Chacha, Fruits Basket, Kodomo no Omocha, Now and Then, Here and There e.t.c.). One of the most original, bizzare and hilarious comedies I’ve even seen. If you think Excel Saga was the most bizzare thing you’ve ever seen, think it again. ๐ Fortunately, there is a great, complete fansub for Sekushi Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo! Masaru-san.
Let’s Nupu Nupu
I have a friend of mine which is a huge fan of this anime and made me watch it as well. I have seen few episode (sometime I’ll watch the rest of them) and it was quite entertaining.
Planetes
The Legend of Black Heaven
I agree with Planetes, this is a great title.
Mushishi
Haibane Renmei
ef: tale of memories
Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom
Golgo 13
Anyone who likes Noir would LOVE those two anime! Too bad they won’t be coming to the US for a long time(if ever:( ).
Definitely one of the most beautiful and amazing anime ever, but it’s so unheard of.
GTO(Great Teacher Onizuka)
Very amusing Manga, but it doesn’t seem too popular…
Hayata No Gotoku(Hayate the Combat Butler)
Funny Story of an in-depted Butler who works for a rich ojou-sama in order to pay off his one hundred and fifty million dept
Fairy Tail
A story about a mage-guild called Fairy Tail, somehow it reminds me on One Piece
Rurouni Kenshin
The story of the former Hitokiri Battousai who has sworn to never kill again
and last but not least:
Bleach
i know this is rather well known, but around here nobody really seems to know it
I must say i’m from germany, maybe that’s why ๐
Epic anime set in space with a mature lover story (SEE: Not a harem or slapstick comedy, but a slow and buddy romance, like Clanned).
Deep, well thought out characters and nations/creatures.
One of the best animes of all time, but it gets little love.
๐
But I can’t see anyone mentioning Mahoromatic. Thanks to a really nice story (that the descriptions usually don’t describe too well -_-), I guess it could use a little more love.

You have crossed the threshold into the realm of awesomeness.
Now improve your spelling and punctuation to earn a seat in the royal court.
Vampire Princess Miyu; well, it may be a little more well known. But you rarely see anyone discussing it, or putting it in top ten lists, or anything.
Maria Holic; just pure win. Everyone should see it. <3
Definitely. I first saw this with older brother who introduced me to anime and it’s great. The live action films are worth a view as well.

If Prak backs it I’ll watch it.
Les Miserables: Shoujo Cosette,
Emma: Victorian Romance,
Saiunkoku Monogatari,
Sailor Moon,
Candy-Candy
No hablah Nah-si de gram-hur? ๐
But, I’d rather be part of the royal harem myself…Lafiel being there and all that.
๐
But, yes, it is a truly amazing series.
Too bad the book translations are slow as hell, same goes for the manga. Worse than ‘Berserk’ and that’s saying something!
Iria: Zeiram the Animation, it was one of my first anime, and I still love it. Yet people have never heard of it.
Maria Holic; just pure win. Everyone should see it. <3
Iria is a fine anime, grabbed the box set a while back. Well worth the purchase.
Maria Holic is a mix for me, it felt a little rushed and the ending just kind of…ended. I’d love to see a second season.
I don’t really blame you.
Both the writers/artists behind both series take their sweat time.
At least Claymore gets 1 chapter per month; Berserk is luckily to get 3 out per year.
Dragon League (I NEED THE LAST EPISODE), it’s like Megaman soccer anime. ๐
and recently I saw: Utawaremono (based off a PC game, but the anime is good)
—
If you’re looking for a good manga (kinda dark), Ubel Blatt. A story of revenge and it’s good.
In my honest opinion these two would work great as movies and It would be nice to see a Lupin complete series box set.
PONI PONI DASH- another funny one, watch it with sub tittles and pay attention to the background school chalk boards, many jokes are hidden there.

You’re either insane or very ignorant. Everyone’s heard of those and most have seen at least part of them.

Natsume Yuujin-cho and Kure-nai are two very exemplary anime that really instill in me a sense of gratitude for knowing what anime is — otherwise, I would have never have found, or watched, these two gems. They are both animated by the study Brains Base, which also did Baccano!, and are slice-of-life anime; however, don’t be intimidated by the genre, as both series proceed at a pace that feels just right – not too slow, and not too fast. The protagonists of both story are highly likeable as they demonstrate a strong and altruistic qualities that we rarely see in the many mediocre anime that flood the channels today.
The plot of Natsume Yuujin-cho can be compared to Musushi, as it is based heavily on Japanese folklore. The protagonist, Natsume, is ostracized by both his family and by society because of his ability to see yokai and ayakashi — the supernatural creatures of Japan. He is seen as eccentric, perhaps even frightening, and this takes a toll on him both mentally and physically. As a teen, and orphaned at a young age, he’s already used to moving from relative to relative. The tale starts with him settling at his most recent home, with some distantly-related albeit kind relatives.
Kure-nai features the protagonist, Kurenai Shinkurou, who shares many similar aspects to Natsume. They have both undergone what can be described, more-or-less, as dreadful childhoods. Now, as a teen of 16 (Natsume is also the same age, if I’m not mistaken), Kurenai supports himself by working as a dispute mediator, and the story starts with him being approached by his employers to undertake the task of protecting a young daughter of an incredibly powerful, plutocratic family.
There is not a single character that isn’t like-able (more like there’s too many, XD), the art and style of both are very beautiful, and the story of both animes are some of the most original and enjoyable ones I have experienced, anime or not. Truth-be-told, I can say without a doubt that these two anime, along with perhaps one or two more, tie for my all-time favourite anime. If you have the time, I highly, highly recommend that you give them it a try.
I also think Princess Nine hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves, since most people who see it, says it’s a great Anime series.
Can’t believe there are so few people who’ve heard of it! –" It’s a great anime =)
and while "Gintama" is pretty popular in Asia as it’s probably the 4th most popular anime/manga there behind One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto, it’s not that well known in North America just yet. Gintama is probably my favorite title from jump at this point.
I saw this a little while back on G4 and stuck with it mainly because it was from Gainax and I didn’t have any other anime to watch. It was merely okay imo. I’m not much into inanity in anime so it really didn’t interest me too much.
Magical Shopping Arcade abenobashi
I have it on Blu-Ray it’s fantastic. One of the most underrated movies of 2009.
The fight scenes are epic.
2. Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
3. Jubei-chan: The Ninja Girl
4. Princess Nine (Didn’t see all of it but what I watched I loved.)
All I can really think of really.
(If I had actually seen The Amazing 3 I would have put it up here… Wanna watch it so bad.)

Even though I don’t remember her name I believe she is one of many charterers created by the Team Shanghai Alice or A.K.A. Touhou games. There old fashioned parralel level shoot em ups. I’ve played them and there pretty good, try looking up the scarlet devil from the same series.
– Scrapped Princess (26 episodes)
– KO Century Beast (7 episodes)
its a really good anime, and i never saw anyone talk about it,even though for over a month now from episode 12 onwards it isnt subbed on ANY website, which can drive people insane.
Gungrave
…
That’s one hell of a crack head show. I have it in 480p xD
Yu Yu Hakusho
Is Outlaw Star popular? I’m not sure. It seems to be overshadowed by Cowboy Bebop depending on which little community I poke around. I wouldn’t put those two together, Outlaw Star is just something else and it’s badass as well.
I enjoy both for different reasons myself.
Cowboy Bebop made a great, if lacking in the constant plot, series with (at the time) edgy animation and style.
Outlaw Star has a great story that manages to keep the entire crew interesting and is one of the FEW animes where the ending doesn’t leave you hanging or questioning.
Flags of Our Fathers maybe?
well, soul eater is kinda popular…
not naruto popular (though i HATE naruto) but close.
a current anime that i think deserves more atention (in this part of the globe) is one piece. really, this show is about PIRATES! pirates are extremely cool.
there are many MANY animes based on ninjas, and when i finally watch something different, it gets overshadowed by the shittiest ninja-based anime ever? PLEASE.
These came to my head cause I never saw anyone talking to me about them.
Jubei-Chan line: "i am Yagyu Jubei the Second"
Samurai Deeper Kyo line: "Can You Hear It, Can You Hear the Wind"
Cyber Team In Akihabara- it’s not popular in english
Gin Tama does need more love.
Right now I’d have to say Tiger & Bunny. I know it just started but the title and the fact that it’s about superheroes can be an instant turn-off for people. However, it has a really unique and culturally relevent premise and shows an incredible amount of promise for this spring anime season.
-Binbou Shimai Monogatari, literally no one knows about it. It’s about a heartwarming story about how two poor girls have to get through life through the love for one another.. and helping other people and vice-versa.
-Hidamari Sketch, another slice of life show it’s made by SHAFT surprised it’s not more well known
-New Getter Robo, a pretty cool manly mecha show. I like it about as much as TTGL.
-Pani Poni Dash, a pretty underrated/overlooked "crazy comedy" anime. In some ways like Azumanga Daioh but SHAFT’d.
-Kaleido Star an interesting premise about a girl joining a CIRCUS. Is actually more serious than it sounds, there is quite a bit of character development.
I couldn’t really get into Pani Poni Dash, for reasons I’m not going to discuss here.
It’s more than just the English dub that are intolerable, imo.
Also there is one about a guy who gets a young girl for a hand.. cant remember much about it other than it was hillarious.
Elemental Gelade was another good one
Anyone who would say that Basilisk is a ripoff of Naruto is an idiot who clearly hasn’t seen one or the other.
I loved paranoia angent, thats a pretty underrated series xD I think kiba needs more love too. Not naruto’s kiba but the anime series kiba XD good series ๐ฎ
<3
Also there is one about a guy who gets a young girl for a hand.. cant remember much about it other than it was hillarious.
Elemental Gelade was another good one
I loved elemental gelade as well even though the dub wasn’t that good -.- and kyou kara maou was also good ๐ remember when they both used ta come in IA tv?
Getter
Captain Harlock
Hokuto No Ken
Those are great
Guess what?
I love it.!!!!
I’ve heard good things about that series yet I never got back to it. I remember when it first came out and I saw 10 episodes for it I think.
I have not seen all the series, but from what I saw … dammit, it is great ๐

I absolutely loved an eerie atmosphere and mysterious plot combined with comical situations.
Great pace, story progression and an ultimate reveal of the main antagonistic entity.
Scientific and psychological terms of the show are based on real life aspects.
Excellent character development and believable personal issues. Art by Takahiro Kimura and is excellent as always.
Overall it is one of my favorite "unknown" shows. A unique combination of comedy, horror, sci-fi and action.
Hopefully someday Japanese will re-release it on Bluray, I’ll be very glad to purchase the original from overseas.

Betterman confused the fuck out of me at times but it wasn’t wholly unpleasant.
Maybe a second runthrough will help me better understand it.

Really? While I think the show is a little more intelligent then other mecha/sci-fi series, it’s actually not all that complicated.
The basic knowledge of biology and psychology is enough to fully enjoy it. They don’t just throw a bunch of smart words at the viewer, that would require him to do an extensive external research in order to get a better idea of whatta hell is going on – no, they go along with it and explain (or remind) what means what.
I don’t consider myself being too nerdy or "intellectually advanced" and was able to follow the story without getting lost.
But just like any other good show it should have something new for a viewer to learn or make him want to learn, and Betterman did that for me just fine.
All in all it was a near perfect blend of smart, spooky, funny and action-oriented type of entertainment for me.
If you couldn’t get into it the first time, but though it had a potential – by all means you should give it another try.
Papa to Kiss in the Dark – I don’t think that it’s really ffamous (not even recognized by yoi fangirls).
Saishū Heiki Kanojo: Another Love Song – The anime got a lot of attention but I think that the OVA didn’t.
Gunbusters. "Space is not a vacuum!" Totally awesome.
The shortest and the most "hated" Gundam series… which is weird because it’s also the _best_ Gundam series ๐ Try it, it’s awesome~
– Toshokan Sensou
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei – Black comedy at its finest.
Gankutsuou – Can’t say I’ve seen a better or more stylistic adaptation of the original novel.
Can be a total schlock, can be a bloody masterpiece. Gankutsuou is closer to the latter.
Seriously, there is STILL no Blu-ray version subbed! Did you know the episode 13 is over 34 minutes long in Blu-ray, and no one hasn’t subbed it… That’s pure blasphemy I say… People really shunned the anime because it was too short. I think the fast-pacedness of the anime was awesome, it made me interested in the game – and that’s is the whole INTENTION of director’s, to make people play the actual game. I truly wish DR2 will be animated too someday, but maybe the cold-heartedness of people scared Lerche and Spike-Chunsoft… ๐

Casshern Sins !
Tsubasa Chronicle
Tokyo ESP
-Not Mushishi
-Not Kingdom 1/2
-Not Planetes
I’ll go to say imo of all the early toonami animes, Tenchi Muyo seems underrated. Screw all these DBZ movies, we need more Tenchi.
Arion
Chirin no Suzu
Cyber City Oedo 808
Saint Seiya
Aoki Ryuusei SPT Layzner
Himitsu: The Revelation
Oh and Elemental Gelade.
The movies are good, but slow and people have no idea how much fun the tv series was. It was speculative sci-fi at it’s most plausible within a completely congruent and well considered world.
It’s great, and so underrated… :\
Hunter x Hunter 2011
Tsubasa Chronicle
Terror in Resonance
The creative energy that has gone into these and his other shows is dizzying.
They’re not for everyone, but if they’re for you, they’re everything.
Magic Kaitou
(If you are in semi girly things: Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne)
