Warning!!! DMC 4 OST a dissopintment 🙁

Hi guys it’s my first post but ive been a member for months lol its a shame my first post is the bearer of bad news.

Just got the Devil May Cry 4 OST Delivered today. My girlfriend ordered it for herself hoping it would be just as great as DMC 3 OST but it was not to be. Most of the tracks are really short like 1- 2mins and some tracks are missing like Dante’s battle theme. Why!!! I am going to request a game RIP which will be far better I hope 🙂

Well i have just recently downloaded the full ost and it has all of Dante’s battle tracks on it.

Dante Battle 1 is track 6 on the first CD
Dante Battle 2 is track 26 on the second CD
Lock and Load is track 3 on the third disk

They all seem to be in order and the reason most of the are short is probably because of the game’s cinamatics. Are you sure it isn’t the DMC 4 special ost?

Wel in any case, the pc vesion should be out later this year so im of course gonna rip that, but i heard the ost and its great, haven’t played the game yet so i cant determine if any track are missing.

It was a disappointment because it missed a couple songs? Oh come on…

The soundtrack is not a disappointment. Although the Devil May Cry 3 soundtrack may had some more memorable tracks, doesn’t entirely make the fourth soundtrack unworthy. I agree with Abaddon above me, it’s not that much of a disappointment.

Yeah i can rip if you like but Dantes lock and load track has 2 versions. They missed one. Its also the length of some of the meatier tracks that bother me. Look at the ost to FFX every track that needed it was atleast 3 mins long. Didnt know there was a special ost i’ll have to have a look.

It’s not that bad. Some tracks have an attachment to it.

I kinda wonder why most prefer "Shall Never Surrender" than "The Time Has Come." It is so much better. I don’t like the middle part of "Shall Never Surrender." I thought "Devil’s Never Cry" was a way better ending theme.

I agree completely. I found the vocals at the end of "Shall Never Surrender" to be a bit awkward…it almost sounded more like a fanmix than an official track. It was a pale comparison to David Baker’s haunting lyrics at the end of "Devils Never Cry", or the angelic choruses from "Seeds Of Love" or "Heads Or Tails" for that matter.

"The Time Has Come" was balls to the wall awesome though.

While I won’t say it’s an absolute failure, I do have to acknowledge I found the full DMC4 OST to be somewhat disappointing, as it seemed the best tracks were all in the sampler OST.
Overall, I think that was the problem with DMC4 – Capcom promised waaaay too much and ultimately failed to deliver what people were expecting. Mind you, I’m no way bashing the game as it still is a very solid action game (I love the fact they went back to the DMC1-style enemies) but still, I feel more could have been accomplished, especially regarding Dante’s part and extras…but enough of that, I’m going off-topic here.
Back to the OST, while overall not as good as previous, it still delivers some seriously awesome stuff, my favorite tracks being:
The Time Has Come – practically the best DMC battle theme yet IMHO
The Viper (Battle with Echidna) – great mix between classical and techno, I especially love the harpsichord bits
Science Will Never Die (Battle with Angelo Agnus) – even though this track pretty much embodies all that is wrong with the DMC4 OST (the loud techno industrial sound and the abuse of certain samples/sounds) I gotta confess I love it, the fancy name helps and so does my liking towards the titular character (a disgusting, cowardly, stuttering, one-eyed moth/beetle demon who thinks of himself as an angel – I like the concept, designers nowadays are so preocupied in making everything "cool", so it was quite original in seeing a design that’s actually going for the exact opposite)
Baroque and Beats (Battle with Bianco Angelo) – pretty much my favorite track, mostly because it gives me some DMC1 nostalgia (specific common enemies having their own battle theme and I also think it sounds somewhat similar to Ultra Violet, I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but it might be giving the relationship between Nero Angelo and the Bianco Angelos).

The only good DMC soundtrack was the first. I hated it when they began adding vocals to the mix(the lyrics were dumb as hell). Wish they would have kept it instrumental
