The Christmas rendition of Shenmue with the bells and jingle from Shenmue 1
One of the songs from Mother 3, #153 on the sound player, sounds kinda Christmasy.
"Jangle Bells" from Donkey Kong Country 3 is another pick.
That’s about all the songs I can come up with at the top of my head. Making a collection like that sounds like a good idea!
I totally love Christmas music, and video game / anime ost’s, so been compiling (what I think is) a pretty decent playlist over the past few Decembers.
The decorations have all come down now, but I’ll upload what I’ve got, the files’ll keep for next year!
Actually less music than I remembered here, at 18 tracks. :-\
Credit goes to Dale North and Jivemaster for the OverClocked remixes. There’s a few tracks here that aren’t traditionally Christmassy, but somehow sound like Christmas anyway ("Didn’t it Rain" from Earth Girl Arjuna, for example), there’s a few that are simply obvious arrangements of existing Christmas songs (like "Jingle Bells" from Shenmue), and then there’s the diamonds that are sheer original Christmas music from the world of vgm ("X-Mas de Chocobo", "Diamond Dust Act 2" etc).
Sincerely hope that anyone who downloads, enjoys!
Also, I drudged through a WHOLE lot of Christmas themed J-Pop to make a cd-length best of compilation, if anyone’s interested?!
edit: btw kenman, what SoulMunch was saying earlier is that ‘Slightly Dark’, a retro vgm website, compiles their own Christmas Mixes – the first 3 of which were available to download from the Galbadia Hotel website (the site connected to this forum!). What with the server cost issues right now, Galbadia Hotel’s down at the moment, but you can still get all 6 volumes of Slightly Dark Christmas Mixes from the original website (just google Slightly Dark), albeit a track at a time.
-All of the music from the Jazz Jackrabbit series’ Holiday Hare episodes (while in JJ1 they were just rockin remixes of existing christmas songs, JJ2’s chrismas version (HH98) had an original composition entitled "White Hare" (http://www.loricentral.com/music/whare.zip))
-The music for the "Totally Scrooged" stage in Gex 3.
-The music for The Hinterlands in Oogie’s Revenge is an oddball because of how depressing it is.
Really cool mix of Christmas and Mario.
The whole episode is about Christmas, but yea, it’s a bit late for that now D:
