I think Arrested Development is probably the greatest thing to ever air on television and every thing is second to that, but other shows I watch or did at one time are Carnivale, Entourage, Nip/Tuck, Six Feet Under, Sealab 2021, The Sopranos, and Band of Brothers if you want to call it tv. I was watching Black Donnellys on the strength of the pilot but I have missed the last two epiosdes. I’ll probably catch up sometime but so far it hasn’t really been anywhere close to as good as the pilot.

Well my favorite tv shows… hmm.

The only ones I watch with any sort of regularity is Jeopardy and Seinfeld re-runs (despite the fact that they only show like two of the seasons and it’s stupid). Frasier is pretty swell too, though the plot for every episode is "something happens MISUNDERSTANDING LOL CONSEQUENCES lol done." The Simpsons have always been one of favorties, but I haven’t seen a new episode in a long time. Last night my favorite episode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/‘Round_Springfield) was on which made me happy.

I am also a big fan of pretty much everything on PBS, like Nature, Nova, Frontline, etc.. Like, I can almost always turn PBS on and be happy.

In general though, I tend to have one standard answer. In this case, favourite show for longevity is Friends or The Simpsons, but I think once Lost has run for its full span, that will surely be it.

Doctor Who. One of the best shows on the air anywhere right now. Great writing. Awesome villains. And for a TV show (and a BBC show), the production values aren’t too shabby either. The Doctor takes a hot chick with him whereever he goes. He travels the universe in a police box.

Not to be an asshole, but I just don’t actually watch TV at all. Well, I indirectly watch TV by watching anime which was ripped from Japanese TV. I used to watch and love many programs. Such as… news spoof Brass Eye; chat show spoof Knowing Me, Knowing You, With Alan Partridge; crime drama Cracker (became controversial in the mid-90s by depicting a rapist as human rather than as a monster); Never Mind The Buzzcocks; Later with Jools Holland. Actually I must admit, I still watch the last two when I coincidentally catch them.

Most of the stuff on T.V. is utter crap. I hate all the reality shoes and stuff. Now if I had to choose a few favorite T.V. shoes they’d be mostly ones that are over.

Who are you referring to?

Entourage. One of the best acted and written shows you’ll ever see.

Prison Break is the only show I’ve ever been able to get into and stay involved with the entire time. That, and Family Guy.

I bought all the seasons for both of these, and can’t wait for the Prison Break: The Final Break movie, though I already torrented it and watched it a month or two back 😀

I don’t watch much TV these days, so the only shows I really sit down and enjoy are NCIS, Criminal Minds, as well as occasionally Bones and the odd repeat episode of The Simpsons. I also watch a local documentary program called Collectors as well (somewhat similar to the British show Antiques Roadshow)

EDIT: or rather, I used to watch Collectors, before it’s main host was arrested and jailed on child porn charges, which kind of killed the show after that.

Oh, and Top Gear too when I’m able (even though I hate cars :p).

Other than that, my TV usually spends most of it’s time switched off and gathering dust. :p

I just recently got into Supernatural… went through the first season in 4 days, just went and picked up seasons 2-4 yesterday. 😀

Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy are Amazing!

Well my favorite would have to be friends ( all seasons). The characters are just hilarious. The confused face of Ross, funny comments of chandler, stupidity of Phoebe and the sophistication of Monica. I just love them all. Sadly they have closed this serial after a grand period of 10 years (1994 – 2004).

Simpsons – earlier seasons. This show’s been declining, even the Halloween ones and to me, it means that it has been on way too long and needs to end. Doesn’t have as many viewers or quality as the earlier seasons did.

Currently airing:
Bates Motel – It’s been good so far.
666 Park Ave – Upset this is canceled. Thought it was one of ABC’s best.
Walking Dead – Awesome.
Once Upon A Time – Amazing since the beginning.
Revolution – This is one of the best shows currently on TV. Awesome concept far as the series’ main plot is concerned.
Arrow – Awesome since the first episode. Best live-action superhero adaptation IMO. Personally, I like it a bit better than Smallville which was good too.
Revenge – Season one was awesome. Season 2 had a few downs, but most of it was ups. Especially the first 9 of the 2nd season. But the 2-hour long season 2 finale was worth watching every second and it isn’t often that I can say that for even a 1 hour episode these days.

All of these are highly recommended.

I thought X-Files just ended normally on its own as everything has a beginning and an end. I didn’t know it ended due to cancellation.

I can’t believe Simpsons is still going. After years of only watching the Halloween episodes, I watched the first episode of Season 24 and realized even more how far the quality has gone down in terms of writing. The couch gags are also too long for me. The only good thing IMO: it’s in HD. A goal of mine as far as TV is concerned is to watch the very last episode whenever it is simply just out of appreciation that this show was available for my entertainment when I was younger. I just cannot watch it now though except for the Halloween specials.

Phenom:

I felt it had at least a couple more seasons to it. I had hoped Robert Patrick, Annabeth Gish and Mitch Pileggi could carry it until the next film would be ready. I personally think the show ended before it had really gotten going. The big mistake was killing off The Lone Gunmen.

According to wikipedia, it was just 9 seasons. The show just celebrated an anniversary so that considered, there could be another movie.

There’s no comparison: Firefly a million times over. I also love(d) Queer as Folk, Veronica Mars, Hannibal, and of course Game of Thrones.

Homeland is high up on the list too, but that might change after watching what they are going to do after last season’s finale.

Fawlty Towers – or ist it Farty Towels… :-D.

Another vote for Person Of Interest. I can’t wait to see the direction they take the show after last season’s finale. I was sad to see Warehouse 13 go, but glad Sci-Fi Channel allowed it to have a quick "final" season instead of it just ending.

I love American Horror Story! Coven is my favorite season so far, but Freakshow is starting to get intense! I normally don’t pay attention to TV shows, but when AHS is on, it absorbes me!

Hercules has some good episodes too. I like the atmosphere of those shows.

And when I thought the type of shows I like wasn`t made these days, I found Fringe.

Person of Interest.

The writing is tight, it flows without ever breaking it’s own rules or it’s own logic, it’s subversive, it treats both genders like equals, it covers social ecological themes that fit with a city like New York, while also having a bigger narrative about technology, and surveillance in the U.S. in relation to our war on terror, it covers things that feel relevant that can be missed by other shows. It’s manages to balance being a grounded Science Fiction show that’s ultimately about technology and how with the more sophisticated and advanced it can become, the more complex our relationship with it in our everyday lives can become.

And even with all of that, it still finds way to tell stories with a sense of humor that can lighten the mood when it needs to be, to be all action when it needs to be, or be emotional when it needs to be. The fact that, so far, they’ve had three seasons with about 22 or so episodes per, and be able to keep it feeling fresh and unpredictable is kind of an amazing feat. Usually, shows that produce over 20 episodes per season will hit walls, get stale, experiment and fail at stuff, lose it’s way playing it safe…Person of Interest has effectively avoided all of that, while still clocking in so many episodes. I feel really strongly about this series, and just how damn good it really is.

Tough question! I guess I am too much influenced by Star Trek to give any other series a chance to be mentioned here 🙂
