The games I have in mind are .hack//infection for the PS2, Arc: Twilight of the Spirits for the PS2, Unlimited Saga for the PS2 and Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter for the PS2.
I’m more interested in the first two than the last two. But I’m willing to listen to opinions. The things I’m looking for are storyline and a decent battle system that won’t send me to sleep.
So, considering this, I’d recommend Arc.
EDIT: Avoid UNLIMITED SaGa like the plague…
I think you should play through Kingdom Hearts again BZ >=D
AGAIN!? I’ll be lucky to play it through once, let alone more than once. ๐
I decided to be cheap and replay Final Fantasy X first~ Yes, I am cheap.
if you don’t already have it, i would definately recommend dark chronicle-it seems pretty overlookes, in my opinion it is one of the best ps2 rpg’s.
P.S.-anyone know when the xenosaga game are released in europe?
Frankly, i’m surprised we got .hack//infection over here.
Besides, if you want a really good RPG, just get Knights of the Old Republic for the computer, BZ…
BEST RPG EVER.
People have also screamed at me for saying how good BoF: Dragon Quarter is. >_<
It’s up to you matey~
If you buy it now, you might complete it just in time, for when Xenosaga 2 come out ๐
KOTOR 2 > KOTOR ;D
Riiiiight…. thank you for sharing your amazing precognitive abilities with us. I’m so happy to know for sure that KOTOR 2 is going to be better than the first one. Oh wait…. you’re just talking out your ass, aren’t you?
Yes, .Hack series has a good stroy but gameplay is a little off. I dont think i can say much as i have only played part 1.
Personally I loved .hack… And I LOVED the gameplay. It was quite addictive to say the least… the only thing is the games are pretty short. As you know their are four .hack games… putting them all together their about the lenght of Final Fantasy X. They could have probably put all the games into 1 or 2 disks, but probably didn’t in order to make more money. Although some of the side quests can be pretty deep. The only other thing wrong with it is that by the third one then engine starts to get old… I mean I love it, but i dread going into another dungeon… But I think its a really good series… I never beat it thought because the moment i bought the 4th one, my memory card was stolen.
:-/ That card had all my PS2 RPG files on it…
Arc rocked.
Also, the new Star Ocean looks like it’s going to be amazing when it finally does get released.
That’s deffinately one to pick up, or Star Ocean: The Second Story.
Or you could try the Might and Magic series on the comp, I recomend number 7 (stay away from 9 at all costs!). The graphics are very dated, but the gameplay stands the test of time. Might be a tad hard finding these games though.
I recommend FF3 (Also 6) And Chrono Cross or Tales Of Destiny
So it might be a while until I take your recommendations, but thanks for telling me about them. ๐
The game I recomend is Shadow Hearts, which I think is the best RPG series on PS2 right now (but that’s just my opinion). It has a very good story, with good characters (except for the heroine, who is a bit generic) and the battle system is alot more interesting then most RPGs. It uses something called: The Judgement Ring when you fight.
What happens is say you select the basic attack, a ring appears and a bar spins around the circle. There are three areas to hit, if you get all three you’d do 3 attacks, if you miss one, you miss for the whole attack. Same for items or something, there will be one big area to hit, and if you get it, you use the item.
If you want to find out about the story, just google search it or something…. If you were going to buy it, I’d suggest preordering the second game: Shadow Hearts: Covenant, because when you preorder it, you get the first game with it free.
Now here’s a picture of the main hero and heroine, Yuri and Alice:
